La Puente coach Brandon Rohrer staying put … Is Quinsey in a race by himself for Glendora job?

La Puente head coach Brandon Rohrer has pulled out of the running to become the next head coach at Glendora.

Rohrer, a Glendora alum, was a finalist along with Charter Oak assistant Todd Quinsey after a round of interviews conducted last week. With Rohrer’s defection, that should mean the job is Quinsey’s for the taking.

“I am officially out of the running,” Rohrer said Monday afternoon. “I pulled my name late last week. I’m very excited about what we have coming back at La Puente and part of me feels like our job is still not done.”

“It was getting late in the game. It was about time we pulled our name out. A lot of the credit goes to the administration at La Puente because they wanted to keep us and they’ve done a lot of stuff to help us retain some coaches.”

Aram’s take: It’s looking good for Quinsey, which means it’s looking good for running backs Corey Victoria and Donovan Holmes if Quinsey runs the same style of offense he ran at Northview.

What happened to the ex-Mt Sac Coach????

Brandon Rohrer just showed all of us what a young man of integrity and character he really is.
Coach Rohrer thank you for staying here at La Puente. The Glendora job was probably a dream job for you and your staff with it being a school with money to throw at football and it being your high school and all. But we appreciate what you have done here.
I for one would like to thank you for staying. As my son enters his Senior year I could only think of one group of coaches to run this team and that is you and your staff. All of you are appreciated more than you know
    Thank you.

“integrity and character” He may have, but if Glendora could have assured him a teaching job after next year, he would have left you in the dust. Let’s be real…

  • well duh

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Every quality coach is going to be approached by a program based on their body of work. No doubt if Glendora had their act together and a teaching position was available he would have taken the gig. Props to him for making the call sooner than later like a bunch of coaches have done in the past. No time has been lost at LP, spring ball has not started yet and the boys have been lifting, running since January so dont make it sound like he has not been involved with the program during this process. Would you forgo a pay raise or a promotion at work just to stay at the same pay scale as your fellow workers? I think not.

  • Can you spare a dime

    Warrior Pride,
“a school with money to throw at football” WOW you have no clue. Dont think because it’s Glendora they have money to throw at football. One would think we would have a turf field like you have at your school but nooooo. The high income parents spend their money on little Johnny’s 4×4 and every other toy he wants. We have to pay for our own busing because the district has NO MONEY !

  • Coach Slayer

Glendora is going to learn a hard lesson next year. Football sets the tone for school enthusiasm for the entire year. A productive program means the other teams will follow. Look at Bonita, Amat, W.C. and Monrovia. Then notice Los Altos, Wilson, Etc. Glendora’s inability to put a coach in expeditiously has cost the school the fire needed to build on for next year and will inevitably hurt all school programs next year. I know teachers unions hate football coaches and don’t respect what they do but they are very mistaken with that attitude. Good coaches are more valuable than administrators and at some point parents need to step up and fight the unions in making it so difficult to hire these fine men. At the least coaches should be able to bring their old seniority with them when they move to coach a new program.

  • In a row boat with no oars

Quinsey doesn’t even have a staff to bring with him. Looks like it’s going to be a up hill battle. Time to transfer!

  • Valley

Glendora….can you say….TRANSFERS. Well how about you guys start crossing Arrow Hwy and going to the other 800 School in the area? That has a CIF ring as well. They could use some linemen and RBs if you guys are looking for a quality program.

  • GHS

Looks like the Vultures are all over this thread.
GHS players don’t panic. Lets see who the new coach and staff are. Like I have said before don’t believe everything you read on these blogs! The sky is not falling. Most of these vultures are just trying to bring down GHS.
Remember we beat Charter Oak, CIF champs Monrovia and barely lost to CIF champs West Covina basically on a kick off return.
If we get a decent coach things will be fine. Lets let the dust settle. Geeeeeze!

  • just sayin’

look at “Valley” from CO trolling for players. LOL. that’s the only way they got the “rings” in the 1st place!

What happened to the ex-Mt Sac Coach who was in the running?

Couldn’t it also be possible that they have a one-year guy until a teaching position opens up for Rohrer next year?

Lastly, ANYONE who may/is thinking about transferring would have to MOVE/RELOCATE in order to be eligible next year, unless they are Freshman this year at GHS.

Bet your house that anyone transferring would be challenged by the GHS administration for “athletic purposes.”

  • Go For Coach Rohrer

What a shame to see some here questioning Brandon Rohrers integrity even after he stated that “I’m very excited about what we have coming back at La Puente and part of me feels like our job is still not done”.

That tells me he wasn’t really diving head first into the GHS job but seeing what was being offered. It was clear in the end the Coach Rohrer realized that Glendora didn’t have their act together. Besides who would want to walk into that mess?

I think coach took his time with his decision and decided to stick to a program that he has turned around quickly. And thanks to the La Puente admistration and community that appreciates Coach and his staff. That’s pretty hard to fine nowadays. Just look at Duarte.
