College interest in Diamond Bar QB Henry Omana Jr. picking up …

Spoke to Diamond Bar coach Ryan Maine this morning and he said that QB Henry Omana Jr. is nearing his scholarship offer after a spring that’s produced heavy interest from college recruiters.

New Pac-10 member Colorado looks likely to offer Omana, as does Oregon St. Once that happens, Maine expects several more schools that are interested to step up to the plate.

Omana, who is 6-3, 210 lbs., passed for 1,298 yards and 13 touchdowns last season while splitting time with Andrew Cameron. Omana is currently a standout pitcher on the Brahmas baseball team.

Omana’s father Henry Sr. was a star football/baseball player at El Monte and played in college at Utah St.

Aram’s take: Are you starting to see why I’m high on D-Bar’s chances of improving on last year’s 6-4 record? With Omana back and other weapons like receiver George Katrib and Jamaal Clayton, there hasn’t been this much excitement about Brahama football since … since … I don’t know, the Roche Era!

Enjoy his reel …

And before any negative comments start… HE IS A FLIPPIN AWESOME YOUNG MAN !!!!!!!!

  • DR

If he is so great why did he “split” time?? No wonder Coach got fired!

  • DBALUM

I met the humble young Omana and became an instant fan. Last season, Omana patiently waited on the side lines for his opportunity and gave The Brahma Football team the spark they needed when he took over at QB. Maine, in his first season as Head Coach is a lucky man to have such a talent. Maine also a stud QB back in the days and a humble person has already made a difference. With a good staff that will work together and not point fingers with respect for the game. Looks like it’s time to get ready for some football. By the way, I’m 6’2″, Omana is taller than I am. He is a legit 6’4″. Good luck Coach Maine, staff and players…
    GO BRAHMAS

  • DRANCH DAD

    I’m a DRdad,
C’mon DR you know Henry is a solid kid on and off the field.
Henry has been a stud from day one playing football, baseball and basketball. Always giving 110% for the team and the coaches. Happy for Henry and his family. Keep it up and good luck OMANA’S

  • PRIMP

HENRY OMANA HAS WHAT IT TAKES. ATHLETIC, SIZE AND EXPERIENCE. GOOD LUCK

  • Get real

Even with Omana and one wide receiver, Diamond Bar will remain the same. They have no line, no good coaches, no wins. One good player won’t make a difference!

  • Bulldogs have bite

The Hacienda league seems to be loaded with D1 talent at every turn. By far the toughest league in the Southeast division. Omana is the real deal and the “guru” needs to take another look at this kid before putting together another assinine top recruits list.

  • Tooo funny

    @ Get real
last i checked, there’s not a high school football team in american that has any wins in 2011.

  • Gospel

I’m really impressed with the highlights. Omana looks real good. Why did he have to split time?

  • player

    Bulldogs have bite for sure.

What Class to you and your football program. Knowing your QB will graduate and give a great compliment to Diamond Bar’s Omana. AWSOME!!!

    Get real.

Get real…Local talent and talent like Omana should be recognized and we SGV people should be proud of them all. Comments left by bloggers out number your negativity. It’s obvious the Omana kid is well liked. Get real, Get over it.

  • ROWRAIDER

    Omana,

Diamond Bar’s QB beat us himself last season. It was like watching one of the greats in action (Joe Montana, Dan Marino or even John Elway). I saw it first hand. He out played our QB for sure. The only other QB I saw that had size and ability to play last season was Bonita’s Pendelton. My son will graduate form Rowland this year BUT will make my way to Diamond Bar’s football game against Rowland next season. Good luck Omana. One of the BIG FISH in our FISH BOWL.

OMANA IS A STUD, A GAMER AND A GREAT KID

  • Diamond Bar Little league

I am impressed and extreamly happy for Henry and his family. I knew he would be a force and knew he would be one of the kids to go along way. I am so happy for his father for taking the time to not only coach his son but coach the kids given to him his first year at DBLL. Kids did not even know how to put on their baseball glove kids that never played. Such a motivator and paitient man that brought out the best in all his players. Congrats to the Omana’s and the best of luck to Henry.
    AWSOME

    Aram,
Read the paper on Sat. as mentioned Colorado and Oregon St. have interest. The question is has Omana had visits from these programs or any others? May is coming to an end. I would like to know if Omana has had any visits or visits pending. Interested in following this kid. I also watched the video. Gave the kid a 9.99 good QB. I gave the video guy ahhh 2.25. Good ballplayer deserves a good video…
Good luck to the local boy.
    Thanks
