Aram’s take: What jumps right off the page is the three-week stretch of playing West Covina, D-Ranch and Bonita. Will there be anything left in the tank for the Branding Iron game right after that? For fans, it’s nice because we’ll find out right away in league just how seriously we should take D-Bar. Here’s the thing, while it’s tough for D-Bar to play those Big 3 back to back to back, the good news is they’ll be catching a young Bonita team may or not have all the seasoning it needs at that point, and the same can probably be said for D-Ranch. The nonleague looks doable and with some breaks the Brahmas could be 4-0 heading into league and have everybody from Robledo to Donte Nicholson excited. I will call for 7-3 simply because the offense should give D-Bar in most games and the only time they’ll struggle is when teams can throw them around at the line of scrimmage and/or out-athlete them. Who do you see on this schedule, beside WestCo, that is lock to do this? Exactly. That’s why I say 7-3.

    Sorry but DBAR has no business in the Hacienda. A couple of studs do not make a team, even 6 D1 players dont, just ask La Mirada and Muir. You need a experienced and good coaching staff and DBAR don’t have it yet. But lotsa luck anyways.

    i believe there is a bye week in there somewhere, with the 7 team leagues there is usually a bye week unless a team schedules a non league during league? i think the bye is after bonita, with ayala being a week 0 game and son on

    you speak as if the hacienda is some sort of football powerhouse league. now if you said that db had no business in the sierra, baseline or (god forbid) the serra league then you would be absolutely correct. but the hacienda?, wc had a very good year last year and probably will be good again this year, but after that they will drop back to being an average football program, bonita had their once in a 2 decade team last year and still couldn’t get it done, pomona ranch has a number of good athletes out of the city of pomona but is handicapped by the one of the worst coaching staffs in the sgv, walnut beat db the last 2 years but db dominated walnut the previous 1 or 2 decades and walnut will be back to being their typical below average program over the next few years, rowlands big year was suppose to be last year when they came in next to last place, and los altos is on life support. so all in all i would say that db is right where they need to be, in an average league, in the sub-par southeast section of cif

    DBar probably will go 5-5. They’ll be beaten by Ayala, WC, Bonita, DRanch, and Walnut simply because they have no defense and no size in the trenches. Some coaching would help too

    I dont think Ryan Maine as a head coach is considered “No coaching” ….I beleive he played on the 1995 Championship team….You think he might know something about the game???

    Now for all you Brahma haters out there, in case you didn’t know that there were over 100 players out for the first day of spring practice on Monday. The energy is unbelievable at DBHS and there is a buzz going around campus about the expectations of this year’s team. First year coach Ryan Maine has already gotten the program to leaps and bounds ahead of where it’s been (and he’s only been at the helm for 5.5 months). The coaching staff is young, but extremely knowledgeable about their specific schemes. They also bring some experience. We all know they have some key returners in Katrib, Lanning, Omana and Clayton. Not bad, as every single one of these guys could play at the next level! I’m really looking forward to Diamond Bar Football returning to prominence! Watch out haters!!

    I heard these same comments a couple years ago down the street from you guys over at Wilson. Two years later that young head coach is an assistant over at Gladstone.

    I heard some talk of the offense you are going to be running next season if correct you guys are in for a long season. That offense and a young inexperience coaching staff are the ingredients for disaster.

    I’m sorry, but both viewpoints can be detrimental to a young head coach which is why they (young HC’s in the SGV) haven’t fared too well recently.

    When an experienced, successful HC takes the reigns of a program his resume speaks for itself therefore there is no complaining from parents, boosters, etc. This leads to the kids showing respect towards this coach.

    On the other hand, a young HC, is constantly questioned before he has even started. His every move is under a microscope. This results in parents, boosters etc. complaining which leads to the kids showing a lack of respect towards this coach.

    So in other words, let the man do his job before any scrutiny or too much praise!! It can also hurt a coach if it is his reputation to be the next Marion Ancich.

    I love the buzz going on right now with the new football coach…it’s about time DB admin. I’m looking forward to the season, finally. But I’m also a realist. We will lack size, and doing better than 6-4 will be a stretch. But all great programs have to start somewhere. I think this is the beginning of something good.

    So lay off this new coach, and let him build a solid program. Let’s go Brahmas !!!

    This team is probably no better than any of the past Diamond Bar teams. They had a ton of talent a few years ago ands till couldn’t get more wins and losses

I believe that you simply could do with some % to pressure the message house a little bit, but other than that, this is magnificent blog. A great read. I’ll definitely be back.
