The new age recruiting technique, hmm…..

  • “new”

This may be “fairly” new in the SGV, (Amat was running a daycare camp when Verti was coaching, and St. Francis even had (has?) a summer camp with full pads) but there are many OC schools (Mater Dei, Servite, Los Alamitos, OLU, Fountain Valley, come to mind) that have been doing this for years, and years.

  • How times have changed

In the old days Gano would never host one of these camps. Now at Damien he has to do it on his own, can’t live off that LA tradition that he destroyed. Amazing how this one time great coach sucks now that he really has to coach.

  • OK

At least the coach doesnt set up booths at pop warner games and hand out business cards and get suspended for 1 game. besides diamond bar is going to smash on you this year.

    Not Gano’s Style

What’s wrong with telling McBride the job is (was) his. At the time there was no rb at LA who could carry Bryce’s jock, so he was a shoe in. Damn shame that year’s team had no qb to keep the defense from keying on Bryce. As it was, he had some great games before getting injured. Check out his game on YouTube against Damien. Pretty good.

    Not Gano’s Style

(condescending idiot) Everybody who follows high school football knows how recruiting works at the high school level, and that it’s illegal, and that some coaches are better at it than others.
Let’s see… Not so good (as far as getting caught)= Brian Zavala, and Roddy Layton.
Fairly proficient = Greg Gano, and Anthony Rice.

As far as family members… Well, some people can’t keep their yaps shut. (Can’t blame that on the coach) Ask mama Canada about that.

  • All Day Football

If you are Mr. Football then why did you not know that there was a passing tournament this past Saturday @ Rancho High? Was just driving by and saw 12 teams out there play some good football. Local teams were Claremont, Chino Hills, and Azusa. All teams faired pretty well with Chino Hills winning it all with Azusa & Claremont finishing 2 – 2. The Azusa vs. Chino Hills game was actually pretty close. Be on top of your game please Aram.

    All Day

Since everyone knows that all of these coaches are recruiting, no matter HOW you put it, maybe CIF should consider letting up on these regulations.

  • Aram

Ding, ding, ding. Winner! You are exactly right.
And let’s take it a step further — since these kids are gonna end up going where they want to go, why police it?

  • Aaron

    Ummm, negative there Aram.

  • Sierra League Fan

Wow Aram…are you serious? Should schools be allowed to offer cars to players? How about free rent to their parents? Where would it end? It is bad enough that parents shop their kids around now…..this would basically turn into prostituting their kids out to the highest bidders. Is this where we want H.S. athletics to go? Think of all of the hard working, dedicated coaches at socio economically disadvantaged schools. They would get a$$ed out.
