Bishop Amat vs. Charter Oak … (and JW North and Upland) TUESDAY at 5 p.m. …

Big Lou and Charter Oak will host the Bishop Amat coaching reunion tomorrow. JW North is coached by Mark Paredes. Upland is coached by Tim Salter. Amat is coached by Steve Hagerty, who along with his staff, has connections to both. And best of all, the legend himself, former Arcadia coach Dick Salter is expected to be out there rooting them all on!

Should be an awesome evening. And of course, fans will get to see Amat vs. Charter Oak at some point.

Great coaches, great football schools and great kids. For mid-June, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Not sure when they end. Teams will start arriving and warming around 4. Big Lou seemed skeptical that all the kids and coaches can get there on time. Everything should start at 5. Not sure how long it will last if every team throws against the other once.

Hopefully, all the parents will be able to get out of work and there on time.

Hey Aram thanks for the info, unfortunately I get off @ 6:15 pm and I work off of Melrose and La Cienega. So yeah Ill get there if Im luck by 7:30pm. Also as a HUGE MTown supporter and former player, I really have been enjoying your colums lately. Deshawn is a BEAST and is going to have a BEAST of a season! Everyone needs to root for his triumphant return. Keep up the good work Aram!

Went down to the Dana Hills Airstrike tournament cause I read that Loyola was going to be there. Since West Covina playes them this year I wanted to see what we were up against. I saw Loyola go against Long Beach Poly and lose in overtime to the Jackrabbits. Poly went on to win the tournament, beating Mater Dei
in the final. I also saw Loyola lose a close one against Santa Margarita. Loyola looks pretty darn good with some big athletic kids. Linebacker were big as were the recievers and the DB’s looked solid.
Loyola’s QB who I believe is Nick Cotton was accurate with his throws and had a strong arm and should be elusive on the field. Their main threat was a very good reciever named Cody Whitfield who had size and speed, he reminds me of Dennis Rufus. They also had other recievers who were big and had good hands. I think Loyola will make some noise in the Serra league this year if they have a decent line. They certainly have the skill players. They will be a difficult game for West Covina. If the Bulldogs can produce a good line that is close to last years line and if they can develope their QB to manage a good game, this could be an interesting game.

    Dan,

I wouldn’t get your hopes up if I were you.

Loyola will win that one by at least 2 touchdowns.

  • Dan

    Jefe,
Should I just not show up then? Or maybe we could just let the teams decide it on the field. You gotta have hope buddy.
