All-Encompassing SGV(N) Top 25 after Week 0 …

Chargers better have their thinking caps on vs. I.E.’s Roosevelt.

1. Charter Oak (1-0) — Offense was lackluster, defense was great. Huge test vs. I.E.’s Roosevelt looms this week.
2. Bishop Amat (1-0) — See Charter Oak comment. Replace Roosevelt with Servite.
3. West Covina (1-0) — Arguably the best win of the weekend when you consider how good Covina is. No Solomon vs. Loyola is too tough of a task.
4. Monrovia (0-0) — If Wildcats can hammer Glendora, they may be No. 1 next week.
5. La Habra (1-0) — Almost had gift from above in QB Livingston, but offense still looked great.
6. Arcadia (0-0) — If Apaches can’t be St. Francis, then showdown vs. M-Town will lose luster.
7. Damien (0-0) — Yes, style points vs. D-Ranch will matter because Sparty needs a statement.
8. Chino Hills (0-1) — Mixed feelings about loss to Bear Creek in opener.
9. St. Paul (1-0) — About what you’d expect in win over La Mirada.
10. St. Francis (0-0) — This ranking makes SF an underdog vs. Arcadia and it’s hard for me to say that.
11. Muir (1-0) — Used major speed edge vs. SG beautifully. Can they keep it going?
12. Covina (0-1) — Did Colts just lose their only game of the regular season?
13. Bonita (1-0) — Perhaps I had the Bearcats a little too low. Certainly not now.
14. Santa Fe (0-1) — Ran into a buzzsaw in Arizona.
15. Azusa (0-0) — Catching San Dimas with a chip on its shoulder and also a game under its belt. Bad timing.
16. Maranatha (1-0) — Put up 41 on Big Bear. Will things be so easy vs. La Salle in rivalry game?
17. Arroyo (1-0) — QB Rivera puts up 4 TDs in air and one on the ground.
18. Glendora (0-1) — Defense did its job in loss to Charter Oak. Offense must figure it out quick.
19. La Serna (1-0) — Offense was no issue in win over Bonita Vista.
20. Ayala (1-0) — Win over D-Bar shows that ‘Dogs are capable of when healthy.
21. Cantwell (0-0) — All eyes on what should be dynamite offense vs. Schurr.
22. South Hills (0-1) — Bad luck continues for Huskies, but St. Monica may help end that.
23. Diamond Ranch (0-1) — Has recency edge on Damien, but mistakes must be corrected.
24. Rosemead (0-0) — Season opener vs. Montebello will be huge test and should tell us a lot about Panthers.
25. San Dimas (0-1) — Saints have a lot to clean up, but get a big game vs. Azusa to do it in.

South Hills facing from the wonderful 13th division…that’s how you know South Hills isn’t legit…I’m not sure St Genevieve wouldn’t beat them

I think Glendora will have a tough time with Monrovia. Tartans kept the game with CO close, but don’t matchup as well against Monrovia. Monrovia will run the football a lot more effectively and Glendora will not be able to hold the ball against Monrovia if they can’t complete passes to move the chain. Running against Ellis McCarthy and that Monrovia front seven will not be a treat for the Tartans. Could see Monrovia putting up a big score and the subsequent overreaction will follow. Just my thoughts…

  • progress

Last year Monrovia Lost to Glendora 21-7. The wildcats moved the ball, but turn the ball over 5 times on the Glendora Side of the field. Jefferies also made some ridiculous plays. Despite the Monrovia pressure, he bailed out glendora time after time. This year, Glendora does not have a d1 QB to lead that offense, and it showed against Charter Oak. This year the Cats will be able to stack the box. This years defense is better than last years defense despite losing Johnson, and Henderson. The replacements are just as good, and Monrovia has two really good D Ends. Also the Cats have a break away back this year and a passing QB with a plethora of WRs. It’s going to be hard to key one player like they keyed Bueno. They Cats want this game badly after last year’s lost. I have the cats winning 28-7.

amat bully; really if the game is close people will talk?? what a clown!! Corona santiago is pretty good and last year they are one of the 2 teams that beat us in season and i think they will be just as good this year with their returning QB and roosevelt in shorts and t shirts aint the same as yall losing to villa park in your superbowl this summer to get you top ranked in tshirts…We smashed on villa park with pads last weeks scrimmage in pads… dream on yall buttercup! Crones going to pick your defense apart…

    CO Bully,
Crone is out with a shoulder injury suffered in their scrimmage. He will be out a few weeks. I agree, with him they beat CO Hands down, without him their offense will struggle. CO better bring their “A” game…..Roosevelt isn’t a weak team like Glendora.

    Amat Bully,
Corona Santiago would mop the floor with Glendora and they beat Roosevelt last year. Last week they beat Pac 5 Dana Hills 53-17. They are not a weak team like the ones on CO’s Schedule like Santa Fe, Esperanza & Glendora. Pressure is on CO to prove they are #1. A loss to Roosevelt without crone will send them spiraling down in the rankings.

  • Amat Bully

Sierra league fan and CO bully:
you both sound dumb Santiago won 4 games last year one of their victories was against CH. yeah they beat Roosevelt by a “TD”. they beat CH by 12 a larger margin then when they beat Roosevelt who went 9-3 last year and beat Norco who Smashed Santiago. Please stop it with the 4-6 team is going to be as good as last year if 4-6 is good then i guess 5-5 would be awesome for them. And dude really your going off a “scrimmage” SMH your beginning to sound a bit desperate. LETS JUST WORRY ABOUT THIS YEAR INSTEAD OF GOING INTO THE PAST…..

  • Amat Bully

    SORRY I FORGOT CH 0-1 CO 1-0

  • CO Bully

amat bully: ok lets talk about this year!! You guys struggled with a rebuilding Glendora team?? We lost to a high powered Colorado team but we did put up 500 yard of offense but we beat ourselves with miscommunication on snaps but other then that we make a few adjustments and we won that game by 14 atleast, what can you say about your 160 yards on offense by your superstar top ranked QB? werent they supposed to be the powerful 3-sum…..hahah

  • CO Bully

Amat bully: your going to be 6-5 just like last year but no coin toss for you! Crone not playing is like the colts playing with no manning…..but im sure you still try to brag you beat the team with no QB….joke!

  • Amat Bully

    CO bully:
HIGH POWER COLORADO TEAM…….LOL…….you do know they finished 7-4 last year 2-3 in league i didnt know finishing under .500 in league is considered a high power team, but wait in Colorado they would be considered high power again its COLORADO football. there was two teams who finished higher than Bear Creek and they had a 6-5 record.
Bear Creek finished 25th overall in state last year those two teams finished 20 and 21 that just goes to show you how high power COLORADO football really is. Dude you really need to do your homework this year they came in ranked #11 in colorado with two teams that have 0-1 records still ranked ahead of them now after they beat CH. But you did put up 500 yards of offense LOL obviously you must of had more yards then Bear creek but Bear creek has more wins then you do if im a coach ill take the win instead of the stat victory. And check your stats out again CO had more then what you think.

And your already starting with the excuses because their Qb is out is the only way CO wins, what a joke dude CO is and was going to win with or without their QB.

  • Amat Bully

    CH 0-1 CO 1-0

  • CO Bully

amat bully: so they finished 7-4 last year? well that makes them better then you year with your 6-5 and they returned 90 percent of their team….your not a coach theres no way they would let anyone like you around ant kids, i wouldnt trust you with my dog. Dis they make the playoffs by default like you and get crushed too? You were in the playoffs last year because the coins bounced twice and landed on the side you called and thats the truth. So your saying that CO would be winning over Roosevelt without your 6’2 180lb starting QB? Yeah face it you dont get points for beating roosevelt without their QB and if you think you do then i was right about yall kind.

  • CO Bully

amat bully: you can sit there with your stat breakdown all you want it isnt going to mean anything once you are on our field and that ball is kicked off. the headline read correctly ( Charter oak struggles to get past Glendora) thats going to be the story all season CO struggles…OOVVEERR RRAATTEEDD!!

  • CO not ready for Inland

The glendora game was no fluke. That game clearly showed why Charter Oak is not ready for the inland. Glendora is a weak team compared to upper half of the Inland Division. To only score two TDs is deplorable. Rancho/upland/Etiwanda and los Osos Put up 40 against this team last year, and may score 60 this year. Glendora had 8 players going both ways, including standout Skylar Hull, Charles Johnson, and Donavon Holmes. If Glendora was deeper they beat CO again. They were just tired and ran out of gas. IF CO plays any of the top SGV teams like Bishop, West Covina, Bonita, Monrovia, or Chino Hills, They lose that game. That win will mean absolutely nothing after Glendora losses to Monrovia, and they better hope Monrovia does not score big in that game. Charter Oak is not very big this year. Charter Oak still look like a southeast team. I am about 6’1 and I stood by Charter oak as they walked on and off the field. They did some fudging on the media guide. Thy have 3 tall players in Gilchrest, and Thropay and Bobo. But that’s pretty much it, in the size category. Santiago is a sick QB/Athlete and should go D1 as a athlete. Kurt Scoby is a beast of a sophmore. Those two are carrying that stale offense right now. Gilchrest could not even destroy the 5’3 corners from Glendora…The D1 scouts may stop coming if he does not light it up. They still don’t have the size to compete with the top inland teams. They have a tough big Inland team in Roosevelt coming to town. Roosevelts WR average 6’3 with a few 6’4 wrs, Their line is big, and Corona is loaded with talent. Enough for 4 really good schools. That is going to be a tough game. Then Esperanza has been playing in a higher division far longer than CO. They will play CO tough. They are used to playing teams like CO in the OC, so that’s not a easy win on road. But then Rancho Comes to town…That game CO will not win. Rancho is just too big and too fast for CO. Rome was not built in a day, and Honestly Charter Oak should have bumped up to Div 4. They are in over there head…I mean look at the Inland….Corona Cenn, Vista Murietta, Rancho,Upland. Like I said too big too fast…for the Chargers. They better be real Careful these next 3 weeks. They may go from #1 to #10.

Here’s a fact for you Roosevelt is ranked higher in the inland division then Norco,Relands,CO and CH. put it like this CO plays two teams in non-league that are ranked higher than both schools (CO,CH). here are the CIF rankings for the inland division.
    INLAND DIVISION
RANK SCHOOL (LEAGUE) RECORD RESULT OPPONENT SCORE
    1. Centennial/Corona (Big VIII) 00 DNP DNP DNP
    2. Vista Murrieta (Southwestern) 00 DNP DNP DNP

    8. Redlands (Citrus Belt) 10 Won Wikeva (FL) 217
    9. Charter Oak (Sierra) 10 Won Glendora 176
10.Chino Hills (Sierra) 0-1 lost Bear Creek (CO) 36-34
So please stop saying CO doesn’t play anyone.

After watching Charter oak play, I did not see what all the hype is about. Travis Santiago, and Kurt Scoby seem to live up to the hype. But I did not see, any other players stand out. I know it was the first week, so I did not expect the offense to be in sync, and did not expect the defense to be perfect, but I did expect discipline and execution. There were some off sides, and personal fouls. On Offense Santiago, and scoby were making things happen. The Line play was not dominant, and that’s something you expect from the areas number one team. Glendora’s line was better. However, they are not as deep as CO, and their stars were going both ways. They were too tired to finish there drives. If CO is going to get pass the first round in the inland they are going to have to block better. Right now I don’t think CO is better than Bishop.

My Rankings are based upon who these teams could beat head..example… There is no way Azusa beats south hills, Diamond Ranch, Glendora, Ayala, or Cantwell. Or another example. Their track record shows that they have not been able to beat those types of teams.

    1. Bishop Amat
    2. Charter Oak
    3. West Covina

    Amat Bully,

I am not a BA Fan. My team is on the westside(mtown). I think that Garfield(Div 1 city) is a better team than Glendora(Div 2). The Bishop Amat Offense did struggle, but you must consider Rio has not been there all summer. Which I think is really going to cost them later. They also shut them out. On the other hand Travis who is the best QB in the Valley, was with his team all summer, and most of your players worked with Jason David, if I am not mistaken. So I did expect the Charter Oak offense to do better. I still think CO has the weapons to have a dynamic Offense if the line can tighten up. I saw travis scrambling alot and Scoby having to break a lot of first level tackles. I give the glendora team credit for playing you all tough, but Gilchrest should have had a big game on a much smaller, and slower defender in Holmes. CO Did not exploit that match up at all. Bobo could have been the true mismatch, since Gilchrest gets the most attention. Next week against Santiago, Those defensive players are going to be better, and may give Travis/Scoby some problems. You are going to need others to step up. The Dline played ok, but the misdirection really had them confused. Glendora did get a push. Bishop on the other hand is in big trouble. people say they step up in big games, but like you said regarding their performance against Garfield, they may pushed around like never before. If things are not clicking, that one may get away. I predict a huge loss, just because as good as Rio is, he has not put in the work to have the performance he needs to have to beat or stay with servite. My rankings are just my opinion, but I think they are more realistic than the ones above….for the reason i stated in my last post…I don’t like to contradict myself, so I hope this clears this up

How much does bishop pay FredJ to repeatedly write about and protect those guys while censoring all who disagree with him/them.

Can you believe the way he’s going after the bloggers that disagree with the bishop bloggers? Go read the Ruiz blog from today. What a butcher job this FredJ guy has become. What happend to Free Speech? And why does he get to call out the Damien kids, but he protects the bishop kids like NINE or the Mt. San Antonio Community College kid? Look at his blogs. Go back and read them. Bishop is just not that good anymore. You can’t write them to victory FredJ. Oh, but he’s always there in their side pocket. You know, just in case. He wants to be the 1st to say I knew it. Well, guess what FredJ? You’re gonna have to wait for a long long long time to celebrate that Pac 5 championship. Servite et al are too big, too fast, too strong, and too deep for your lancers to able to win that game or in 2011.

Well Monrovia put in 29 on Glendora in their opener.
Charter Oak only put up 17. The defense play magnificent. Monrovia had some miscues, which led to Glendora scores, but the defense shut them down. Then the horses took over. I know Mtown is Midvalley, but they are more explosive than CO. Deshawn Ramirez, is electric, we predicted he was a top player, but he showed it. After a year off, this kid created the same amount of offense as the whole CO offense, and the cats have another back too in Bias, He ran down hill tonight. with 123 yds and a td. You can’t down play that. The Cats also have a explosive WRs in Anthony Craft and Luke williams.. Ellis showed why he is the top player in the south land. There were tons of scouts in attendance. He hit Crail. and decleated him, and well he did not want to come back in the game. He is just too much on the inside. The monrovia team is as good as advetised. I would love to see what Charter Oak Fans are going to say…. Monrovia did not play their best game. If they did they Beat Glendora by 30. I think Monrovia is # 2 Behind bishop. Fred, The score was closer than the game was. Glendora was outclassed tonight. Honestly there is not a Midvalley team who can play with them. The next best team is Covina, and despite there big play potential, Monrovia would beat them by at least 2 td. Arcadia will be a tough game, but I pick Monrovia to win 35-14

You will drop out of the top 25 by Monday. That is a Norco promise! Bear what? BearSomething beat you? You’ve got to be kiddin.
Your good days are behind you and now the real toothless puppies are coming out. Even your bark has gotten soft.
    Mooh and 2!”

That was cute…LOL. What team do you support? If it is not Amat, I guarantee that Bear Creek is ranked way higher than you by max preps and Cal Preps. They are ranked # 8 in Colorado. They were a good team and Chino Hills made waaaay too many mistakes and still almost won. I mean Chino Hills could have taken the easy route and scheduled, Glendora, Colony, Santa Fe, Esperanza, Diamond Ranch, etc. that other teams in the Sierra play.

It will be interesting to hear the take on the Damien/Diamond Ranch game last night. There was no good game about it. EZ (1 QB) could not connect with any receivers. Gano substitutes EZ for Pucci (2 QB with disastorous effects (4 fumbles, multiple interceptions, not seeing over the line.) The question is, why wasn’t Alfaro put in? The new recruits for Damien were all non factors last night. The Spartans owe a great deal of gratitude to Castillo who saved them offensively and defensively.

    Back to the drawing board….
