Semi-Breaking News: Snoop Dogg’s sons transfer from LB Poly to Diamond Bar. Corde, a senior, trying for immediate eligibility. Cordell, a freshman, already on the frosh team and could be a very legit WR …

Bow wow wow yippy yo yippy yea, hopefully CIF will let Corde play.

Corde and Cordell Broadus, sons of famous rapper Snoop Dogg, checked into Diamond Bar High School this week after playing football at Long Beach Poly this season.

Corde, who played some special teams this season at LB Poly, is seeking to gain immediate eligibility from CIF. A decision on that won’t be known until after all pertinent paperwork has been filed.

Cordell, a 6-foot-1 receiver, is already on the Brahmas freshman team and could have a big career ahead of him, according to varsity head coach Ryan Maine.

“Once he gets used our system, he’ll probably be the best freshman we have based on his size,” Maine said of Cordell. “He’s really a good respectful kid, too.

“He worked out with us this summer, but Snoop wanted him to go to Poly to see if he liked it, because that’s where he went.”

Cordell attended South Pointe Middle School in Diamond Bar and played in his father’s Rowland Heights-based youth football league.

Aram’s take: Seriously, how did Roddy miss on this one? Uh yeah, anyway, from what I understand, the two brothers have some cousins, but I have no idea if they’re going to call DBHS home anytime soon. If they do, and they can play, there could be a huge coup coming for Maine and his program.

Aram’s next take: I resisted using any “fo shizzle” references because … well, you know. But you have to admit my rhyme under the Snoop photo is legit. I hear Black Moon has an opening at MC.

Aram’s final take: Looking ahead a couple years, we’ll have Noodles from WestCo going against Snoop’s kid (no nickname yet). That would be Compton and Long Beach, by way of West Covina and Diamond Bar, going at it. Yes, the future of SGV football is BRIGHT!

Snoop Doggie Dogg – Why not send the Freshman to AMAT so he can play against LB Poly at some point and time? Amat’s Freshman QB coupled with Cordell could form a formidable alliance for the next Three years? Think about it????? Freshman free year to transfer????

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

Gotta love the Amat lobbying already. That would be an interesting thought, the chance to play Poly. But the kid went to middle school in DB and has friends there. Also, former NFL player Ron Brown, is an assistant coach at D-Bar on the varsity, and his sophomore son Tyler is reportedly going to be a good one at running back. So you’re going to have the dynamic of Ron Brown’s kids at RB and Snoop’s kid at WR for at least two years. All you need now is another celebrity’s kid to play QB.

  • RHS

Snoop’s Rowland youth league ruined the once prominent the pop warner/feeder program in Rowland Heights.

  • Why

Why now? Why not have them transfer before the year started?

  • CIF Nightmare

No one really has a clue about what is really going on including Aram. First off Snoop and Ron are good friends. Now I’m not so sure that they are going to be looking for a qb either. That is probably why they transferred in the first place. There are going to be major transfers after this season due to this move. Now how is CIF going to handle the mess that is coming? Snoop isn’t going to sit back, he is going to do what ever it takes to bring players into the program, trust me I’m 100% sure of that. Who is going to be the biggest losser on this move, Diamond Ranch. Roddy had no chance of getting Snoop and he is going to loss the core of his freshman team to Diamond Bar this summer.

Don’t forget a lot of his former players from the Pomona Steelers are at Diamond Ranch. There are other moves I see happening but can’t address them until the end of the season.

Snoop is going to do to Diamond Ranch what he did to Rowland Raider.

  • CIF Nightmare

    @why,

This move is all about Cordell, Snoop knows Cords may not play another down but he didn’t like the direction they were going with Cordell at Poly.

This is a PR nightmare for CIF, are they going to do the right thing or are they going to allow Snoop to intimate them? Is Poly going to fight it or did Snoop take care of that issue?

I’ve already discussed this with Fred and what the fallout may be. Yes, I fully expect D-Bar to become a hot destination in the coming years. But as long as they are following the rules (which may be changing as early as next school year), then what’s the problem?

  • CIF Nightmare

You discussed this with Fred, so what. Neither of you have a clue of what has gone on in the area when it comes to Snoop and his kids playing football. This Guy will spend millions to get what he wants. He destroyed the Rowland Raiders JA seven years ago and they still haven’t recovered. Flat out money will leave his pocket to get kids to transfer to Diamond Bar.

Did you say follow the rules, haha.

  • bitter?

    @CIF Nightmare

You sound like a bitter Rowland fan.

    Aram,
Your takes at the end of your piece were hilarious!

Trust me, I’m gonna try. He’s in Paris right now. We’ll see what happens, though.

How did Snoop destroy the Rowland Raiders?

    Aram,
Never mind the guy with 1000 name. I don’t know why this is any of his business.
MS, your son is in Pomona while you still live in Hacienda Hts. HATER

  • Jefe

Aram, have you guys retired the 2-Minute Drills?

  • Frank

Why he would not send him to Amat? Probably same reason he’s leaving Poly. Pac5 schools are too competitive!

  • Coach Slayer

SGV by way of Compton and Long Beach? Unless I’am wrong the SGV has had Black, Brown, Asian, Polynesian, Arab and every other ethnicity play football here for decades, so why all a twitter about these two. Compton and Long Beach?, you make those towns sound like a foreign land with people from there rarly seen in these parts. I think this is a non-story until something extraordinary happens with CIF.

  • patrick

Im sure Ryan Maine taking over has something to do with it! Finally a proven coach that has tasted success and knows what it takes!

    @ Aram
What are the rule changes concerning next year. Are they in the works at CIF or with the lawmakers?

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

There’s reportedly going to be a proposal set forth by the Trinity League at the next Southern Section Council meeting that will abolish the “athletically motivated” rule currently in place. If the process goes smoothly enough, which I imagine it will because very few people like the current state of affairs, the rule could be gone in time for next school year … which means there could be lots of (transfer) action this summer!

  • georgie of LM

    @ Aram
thanks for the answer, i think it is a good idea. Why should a kid lose eligibility if he wants to transfer to another school. this article proves that we need a change,Snoop has enough money to have multiple houses and can make the switch happen. Most do not have those kind of resources. IF the schools want to keep their kids, treat them better.

  • DBar Pop

Aram-DBar already has a darn good qb at the JV level and his dad is pretty famous for pitching batting practice during little league, so we have three celebrity kids…But you were right on. Snoop’s son went to middle school in DB and he has a house and lives in DB so this is not someone looking for powerful team, greener pastures move. As far as Snoop bringing players here, that’s going to happen. When DBar was a power, it wasn’t just dRanch kids that put us on top, it was transfers from all over the sgv and local areas. Who knows what will happen next year, but i can feel the nervousness of the dranch crowd and I can hear them complaing, “Well Diamond Bar only wins because of all the transfers!” The next sound you hear is me LOLing my ass off! That’s the pot calling the kettle black! (It’s OK, I can say that. I’m black.)

  • Not good

of course the trinity wants the “athletically motivated” portion of the rule removed because it allows for a big advantage of wealthy people over middle class and poor famililies. All other portions of the tranfer rules remain in place which means that a family would have to still move from their current residence or prove a hardship in order to transfer. When the the “athletic motivated” portion of the rule is removed all a wealthy family has to do is go buy a new home in the area in which they want little johnny to transfer. middle class families and poor people don’t have the resouces to up an move when they want to transfer. the only people that this rule adjustment will benifit are rich kids, thats why the trinity league is pushing the rule. if this rule is changed the trinity will have a huge competive advantage over the 3 public school leagues in the pac-5. bad idea (jmo)

  • Economist

That is a crazy statement. Transfer rules are really slanted to assist the lower class than the upper class. Very few are “wealthy” enough to just buy a house in a new area. They ALSO need to sell the previous house. Not a lot of THAT going on these days.

It is MUCH easier for the family with a month-to-month rental and very little belongins to up and move to another apartment than it is to sell and buy a new home.

    truth.

  • patrick

@ DB pop, you cant tell the truth any better!! God forbid Layton start losing those Lorbeer kids,…He is DONE!!

  • South Pointe

    @DBar Pop

I also hear that one of DB’s freshman players is Kyle Vanden Bosch’s cousin. That makes for just one more player related to a celebrity.
