“Noodles” looking like QB of the future for WestCo …

I have to say that this is a simply brilliant move by West Covina head coach Mike Maggiore; stud freshman Antonio “Noodles” Hull is playing quarterback for the Bulldogs freshman team and he’s likely to compete for the starting job on varsity next season.

Brilliant!

The thing that you usually worry about with West Covina is QB play. The Bulldogs always have fantastic running backs and wide receivers. They always put out a good offensive line. The defense is always filled with guys you don’t want to meet in a dark alley. But QB? Well, that’s always a sweat.

Not including yesterday’s game, Noodles has thrown for 128 yards and one TD (and one pick). He’s rushed for 270 yards and three TDs. Noodles has missed two games, one of them a “mother’s decision” because she didn’t like one of his grades.

If you’ll recall, Noodles was a standout for the Compton Vikings of the Snoop Youth Football League and was reportedly wanted by Bishop Amat, Cathedral and Loyola, among others.

With the proper grooming and QB coaching, Noodles could develop into one of the best all-purpose QBs we’ve seen in a while. Still only 13-years-old, Noodles cannot play varsity because you have to be 14 or older.
