All-Encompassing SGV(N) Top 25 after Week 9 …

The CO brain trust must find a way to make Chino Hills look big … and slow.

1. Charter Oak (8-1) — Have to hope speed outdoes size vs. Chino Hills.
2. West Covina (8-1) — A little drama to end the regular season is healthy.
3. Chino Hills (6-3) — Have to hope size outdoes speed vs. Charter Oak.
4. Covina (8-1) — Rivalry game vs. Northview is a nice prep for the postseason.
5. La Habra (6-3) — Will Troy meet the same fate as the rest of the Freeway?
6. Bishop Amat (6-4) — Defense did its job in league. Now Lancers need luck.
7. St. Francis (7-2) — Win over St. Paul punches postseason ticket, IMHO.
8. Arcadia (7-2) — PHS tried to shoot it out with Apaches and found out.
9. San Dimas (7-2) — Saints get their shot at Mid-Valley wildcard Pomona.
10. Damien (6-3) — If Spartans make playoffs, things may not be pretty.
11. St. Paul (6-3) — Have to believe that Swordsmen were better than this.
12. Whittier Christian (6-3) — Amazing showing after losing so much from ’10.
13. Arroyo (8-1) — Hoping to deflate the feel-good story that is El Monte.
14. La Puente (9-0) — Barrientos is running wild again at just the right time.
15. Santa Fe (5-4) — Mahlstede Magic could bring a special postseason run.
16. Monrovia (6-3) — Big Bob has Wildcats’ ticket punched to the finals.
17. La Serna (7-2) — Defense could carry Lancers a ways again in Southeast.
18. Diamond Ranch (5-4) — Cue up the “us against the world speech” from Roddy.
19. Pomona (6-3) — Loser of San Dimas game faces tough test on road in first round.
20. El Monte (6-3) — Riding B-Mart as far as he’ll take them.
21. Azusa (6-3) — Warriors hoping to take Aztecs’ crown. Can’t wait!
22. Bonita (5-4) — Yes, I’m scared to buy back in on ‘Cats. But they’re on a little roll.
23. Pasadena (5-4) — Win over Muir would put season back on track.
24. San Gabriel (5-4) — Here’s another one I will take credit for.
25. Alhambra (7-2) — Have to believe Moors are better than shown on Friday.

Friday night Coach Thomas starts the road to his second hundred wins with a quest for win number 101. Congratulations Coach Thomas on your 100th win last game!

  • coltfan97

I heard that the Covina-Northview game was switching from Friday to Thursday!!!!! Is this true?

  • Colt74

Can’t see the need for a change in dates. CDF is open on Friday. Unless they are trying to beat the rain? I did not know you could just change a date of a game. I know both schools football pages have had the games listed as for Thursday 11/10 for the last 2 months. I just chocked it up to an error.

  • Billy’s Dad

Hey Colt74- you hooking up for some pre-game pizza this week?

  • Covina game

    Colt 74 and colt 97

The covina / northview game has been changed to Thursday. It’s because of vet day

  • Paul Revere

As I saddle up My horse for that historic ride, there are a few games that need to be settled… Some are rivalries, some are for playoffs hopes, Some are for pride, and some are just to spoil someone’s post season with a upset of injury.. you have to win big to impress CIF, but avoid injury. Coaches get your guys in quick and out early, unless the game is at stake. On Friday night at 10:35 Pm…The ride starts and I will not look back. The playoffs are coming the playoffs are coming…pressure pressure pressure…We get to see the brackets on sunday…Don’t get nervous….

  • So, what Does Amat do?

Amat has a bye week this week. It looks as though they are out of the playoffs. In what situation would they be given an at large berth in the Pac 5, especially being the 4th or 5th place team in the 5 team Serra league. Do they even still have a shot at making the playoffs?

  • Joe Amat

    So what,

There are no “At-Large” berths in the Pac5. The top 3 in the Serra, Trinity, South Coast, and Sunset get in and the top 4 form the 8 team Moore League.

If games go to form with Loyola beating Crespi and Alemany defeats Notre Dame, there is a 3-way tie for 3rd between Amat, Notre Dame, and Crespi – and all would have beat each other. Of course an upset by either team eliminates the Lancers.

The Serra League isn’t sophisticated enough to come up with some formula to break ties – so we go to “Vegas” with a game of chance and a 3-way coin-flip (the method of choice, narrowly edging Rock-Paper-Scissors).

Not a mathemetician, but at that point it’s a 1 in 3 chance…I think. Slightly better than this

    http://youtu.be/KX5jNnDMfxA

  • Heads or Tales???

I bet Amat wants this coin flip to happen today. It would suck to practice on your bye week for NOTHING!!!!…..lol
Amat has gone from a “force” in the Pac5 to playing a game of rock, paper, scissor just to make it to the playoffs and get TRAMPLED in the first round by the #2 or 3 seed. Hope they have fun!

  • Joe Amat

    Heads or Tales,

I think when lowly Amat was the At-Large team in ’08 and played Long Beach Poly when they were the #1 seed and #2 in the Nation, people thought we’d get “trampled” too. They were much surprised when it took a 4th down conversion and a TD in the final minute by Poly to beat Amat 17-14.

(unfortunately, I kinda jinxed us in August before the season started with this
    http://www.insidesocal.com/tribpreps/2008/08/cif-preseason-p-1.html#comment-1750751 )

I’m sure the Lancers would love to have a chance like that again.

  • COLT 76

I HEARD COVINA/NORTVIEW GAME MOVED TO THURSDAY NIGHT BECAUSE FRIDAY IS VETERANS DAY.

  • Joe Amat…..still livin’ in the past

    Joe,
Still thinking Amat has a shot? Man, I have to hand it to you….you are a diehard fan unlike most other Amat & Damien fans who are crumbling at the seams and blaming the coaches, players, god, etc…..lol. Unfortunately my friend you are living in an unrealistic world as far as Amat goes they are just not that good in the Pac 5.

  • Joe Amat

    “livin’ in the past”?

There is no one who would not say Alemany OR Loyola has a chance, or would be surprised, to reach the Pac5 Championship game. Is there? Even you.

Yet how is it possible for you to believe that Amat loses to both of them by FIVE points, has a game-winning pass intercepted in the end zone in the final minute – yet YOU can’t admit they are on that same level?

Nothing has occurred to make me think otherwise.

  • Anonymous

    Joe Amat
im one to say i strongly doubt alemany or loyola will make the pac5 championship. if you look at how poly mv servite and santa margarita is playing there is no doubt in my mind that those four teams would beat everyone in the serra

  • Joe Amat…..still livin’ in the past

    But like I said….coulda, woulda, shoulda…..but didn’t!

This year -Coulda beat Alememy OR Loyola to win Serra league (but didn’t)….. woulda beat SO Notre Dame if you had Rio (but didn’t)
2010 – Coulda bet Alemeny to win Serra league (but didn’t), shoulda beat 3rd place Tesoro in the first round of CIF (but didn’t)
2009- Coulda beat Lakewood to advance past 2nd round of the playoffs (but didn’t)
2008 – Coulda beat 6-5 Notre Dame or Loyola ti win the Serra (but didn’t) coulda have pulled off a huge upset of Poly in the first round of CIF (but didn’t)
    2005, 2006, 2007 – coulda made the playoffs ( but didn’t)
2004 – Beat Mater Dei (your claim to fame) but coulda beat last place, 3-7 bosco (but didn’t. Coulda beat Los Alamitos to advance past 2nd round of CIF (but didn’t – lost 52-6 OUCH!)

So there have been a lot of coulda , shoulda, wouldas in Amat’s recent history but they can’t get it done when needed….can’t win the big games. The Amat fans have PLENTY of excuses though. We are all supposed to believe that Amat is a top teir team in the Pac 5…..Uh, no!

  • ESSGEEEE

I’m looking forward to friday SG vs Schurr because if SG wins then its the first league Championship they’ve won all by themselves since the 70′s I believe, pretty historic. San Gabriel has found their rhythm and will continue to get better, but lets hope those kids don’t get cocky because what they should be looking forward is crushing the Mid valley teams that has beaten them in preseason like San Dimas. SG vs SD in the playoffs will be different, and SG vs Arroyo will be exiting. Either way it’s the first time SG has made the playoffs in this division and it can be a deep run to the championship….Good luck and have fun.

  • BigCat

I see Monrovia as underrated. See ya in the playoffs.

    OldMan in Chino said:
(This is also posted on Fred’s Blog) The game between Charter Oak and Chino Hills will be an interesting one. Chino Hills is down this year and hopefully their tough pre-league schedule will pay off when they meet Charter Oak on Thursday night. Realistically I do not think that Charter Oak played any teams as tough as Chino Hills did in their pre-league schedule. Charter Oak from the outside looking in would seem to have more talent than Chino Hills does, however the win does not always go to the most talented team. The status of their injuried running back will have to be factored into the mix on picking the team that should win. If Charter Oak is as good as they appear to be they will most likely insert another running back into the backfield and not lose a beat. The key to Chino Hills winning will be ball control and limiting the time that Charter Oak is on offense as well as putting pressure on the QB. Chino Hills will be hard pressed to stay with Charter Oak in a shoot-out. Long drawn out drive resulting in 6′s and not 3′s will be the formula for a Chino Hills win. Best of luck to both teams and hopefully the game will be a close with Chino Hills prevailing.

  • Joe Amat

    woulda, coulda, shoulda,

You may live by cannots or did nots – I prefer to worry about cans and dids.

Here are some things Amat DID.

    2008-
DID dominate West Covina, Diamond Ranch, Damien, and St Francis 134-49, DID beat the Trinity League Champion Orange Lutheran, DID reverse their record from previous year to 7-3, and DID upset Crespi 22-21 to EARN the at large spot and the right to play the #2 team in the nation
    2009
DID beat two-time defending state champ and nationally ranked St. Bonaventure, DID sweep the valley again, DID win the Serra League Championship -the 4th toughest league in the USA, DID beat Mater Dei in the playoffs to get to #2 seeded Lakewood.
    2010
DID beat 3 undefeated League Champions in preseason, DID beat a nationally ranked Crespi team to get the SGV some pub as lead story on MaxPreps, DID avenge previous seasons ND loss with 52-7 win, to earn the right to play for the league title of the 5th best league in the USA on the last day of the season.
    2011
DID, again, beat 3 teams in preseason that could win league championships this Friday. DID dominate Damien who Chino Hills needed a miracle play on to defeat – and who Charter Oak watched march up and down the field, DID beat undefeated Crespi to give themselves a chance on the last day of the season to make the playoffs in the 4th toughest league IN THE NATION!

Now it’s your turn. Tell me who else in the valley DID anything remotely close to that?

  • shoulda, woulda, coulda

    2008-
“DID dominate West Covina, Diamond Ranch, Damien, and St Francis 134-49″ –
***You should have, they were all lower division teams***
” DID reverse their record from previous year to 7-3, ”
*** Is this what top tier PAC 5 teams do?***
” Beat Crespi 22-21 to EARN the at large spot and the right to play the #2 team in the nation ”
*** Crespi was the ONE team you beat in league – Yes, and you lost to Poly***
    2009
“DID beat two-time defending state champ and nationally ranked St. Bonaventure, DID sweep the valley again, DID win the Serra League Championship -the 4th toughest league in the USA, DID beat Mater Dei in the playoffs to get to #2 seeded Lakewood.”
***** Once again bragging about beating lower division teams… Mater Dei was 6-5… and you lost to Lakewood….still can’t get past 2nd round”****

    2010
“DID beat 3 undefeated League Champions in preseason, DID beat a nationally ranked Crespi team to get the SGV some pub as lead story on MaxPreps, DID avenge previous seasons ND loss with 52-7 win, to earn the right to play for the league title of the 5th best league in the USA on the last day of the season.”
***** Once again bragging about beating LOWER division teams, Played for league title and CHOKED…….Lost to 3rd place Tesoro in first round*****

    “2011
DID, again, beat 3 teams in preseason that could win league championships this Friday. DID dominate Damien who Chino Hills needed a miracle play on to defeat – and who Charter Oak watched march up and down the field, DID beat undefeated Crespi to give themselves a chance on the last day of the season to make the playoffs in the 4th toughest league IN THE NATION!”

****** Bragging about beating LOWER divisin opponents again…The one Division opponent you played MERCIED YOU!…. Bragging about beating Damine in which a rebuilding Chino Hills team barely beat? WEAK…Undefeated* Crespi…only because their ass kicking by Vista Mur was forfeited….******

So, once again, What wins against PAC 5 Opponents makes them a top tier PAC 5 Team? What advancment in the CIF playoffs makes them a top Pac5 team?

  • Joe Amat

    shoulda, woulda, coulda,

I see you dodged the final question. And since this thread IS titled “All-Encompassing SGV(N) Top 25 “…talk to me.

St Bonnies was #17 in the NATIOn – but “we beat a “lower level team”? OLu won the Trinity league – oh, you skipped that one, Mater Dei was 6-4 when we played and had a QB and WR better than any offensive players in the SGV since McCutcheon, Tesoro beat Santa Margarita, beat South Hills 59-6…and was nice – not your typical 3rd place team

AND… what you are saying is admitting that Amat is better than anyone else in the SGV(N) and “should” dominate them? Is that what you are saying?

    Just want to be clear.

  • Shoulda, woulda, coulda

    Joe Amat,
Yes, I am saying you USED to be dominant over the other programs in the SGV. You should be, as you are the ONLY pac5 school in the Valley. Like I said. AMAT does not win when it NEEDS to……like in the playoffs and to win a league title.
Yes, Mater dei was an awesome 6-4 when you beat them ( you want us to think it was the CIF Champion Quality Mater Dei team you beat) Yes, Tesoro Beat Santa Margarita (but lost to Chino hills) and that means???? and they beat 3-7 So. Hills by a million …your point? So I guess the South Coast League was much better than your Serra league then since their 3rd place team beat your 2nd place team then?
I’ll give you the St. Bonnies win, even though they were in Div 3. Amat needs to start winning in the playoffs if they want to be a top tier Pac 5 team and to keep their players from jumping ship like they have started to.

  • Joe Amat

    Shoulda, woulda, coulda ,

No, no…I only included the last 3 years. Beat West Covina – above us on this list. 3 loss “rebuilding” Chino Hills who needed a desperation TD to beat Damien…also above the Lancers, and La Habra who is 0-3 this season and 0-10 the last few years in he waters that we swim in are also above us.

Laughable, stubborn AND ignorant to think “USED” to be is accurate in any way shape or form.

Have a thread on Aram’s “the world in which we live” and we’ll have a different discussion, but in this beauty contest that is the SGV(N) LIst – there is still NO basis to think otherwise.

That said, I still want some Rio Hondo Prep love from Aram, because if he’s going to be consistent they achieve FAR more in the world in which THEY live than any of us.

  • Did, Has and Will

Amat DID spank their SGV powerhouses when played,
HAS spanked them pretty consistently, when played and WILL spank them again if they play in the near future!!!

You COULDA kept your mouth shut.
You SHOULDA kept your mouth shut.
You WOULDA kept your mouth shut if you didn’t want everyone to know that you don’t know Shiat! At 6-4 Amat is still the BEST team in the SGV, but hell that’s not much of a chest thumping point either!

  • SaintsR4real

Playoffs, playoffs, did you say playoffs???

Cool! It’s about time Veterinarians got recognized!

If the vet techs can get recognized then it’s also deserving of the vets!

National Veterinary Technician Week (NVTW) October 9-15, 2011

  • Nice Try

    Saints4real,

The best San Dimas can finish is second place, so they can’t be in the top four, sorry nice try.

  • coltfan97

    To Nice Try,

It has happen before that a second place was a top 4 team in playoffs!!! It could happen again in the Mid Valley Division especially since SD crushed Monrovia at Monrovia earlier in the season!!!

    To Saints4 Real,

Just worry about Pomona this week!!!!

  • paul revere

    Colt 97,

San Dimas did not Crush Monrovia, lol they won by 17, Without Ellis McCarthy and 3 other starters on d… Monrovia is looking good…RHL champs, top Four Seed in the playoffs…it’s great to be wildcat…It’s the other teams that are worried about who they play…what the brackets will be etc…I tell you Monrovia is thinking about Monrovia, and what they have to do. Really, they will play any one in Division, you have to play all the teams to win it anyways. So what’s the difference? I’ll tell ya, Covina Fans always point to preseason games that don’t count…But haven’t you heard ???? The playoffs are coming, the playoffs are coming….pressure pressure pressure…and the brackets come out sunday…The playoffs are coming!!!!!

  • Bonita fan

Wow Bonita at 22. Or should I say Podley at 22.
Impressive to rise from the ashes like a Pheonix.

  • coltfan97

    Paul Revere,

Other than Monrovia the RHL is a very weak league, and I don’t care if Monrovia suffered injuries during so did Covina and they won those games!!!! Your right about one thing your going to have to play great teams in the playoffs no matter what!!!!!! Preseason does count especially in the Mid Valley with four wildcard entries to the playoffs!!!!! I do have a question for you!!! Would you like to see a Covina vs Monrovia Final?

#1. Charter Oak (8-1) — Congratulations CO Chargers! You continue to show why you are the Best Team In The Entire SGV!
** 34 – 7 in the 3rd Qtr againt a team that was tied 7 – 7 against amat at half time. ** You are in the playoffs!

#2. West Covina (8-1) — Steady, fast, strong. Good game plan. West Co and CO are the class of the SGV. No doubt about it. Now go make some noise in the playoffs!

#3. Chino Hills (6-3) — Good size, but not well coached. Coaches are too emotional and yell instead of coaching! Kids tend to be lazy and slow. Its a down year for CH Huskies! They’re in the playoffs.

    4. La Habra (6-3) — I don’t mind reminding you that I told you they would be back! And they are! In the playoffs

    5. St. Francis (7-2) — Win will beat St. Paul and get into the playoffs.

    6. Arcadia (7-2) — Keeping the Offense going.
    7. San Dimas (7-2) — Saints will beat Pomona.
    8. Damien (6-3) — Spartans are a much much better team than we are given them credit for. In the Southeast, they would win many more games.
    9. La Puente (9-0) — Warriors in the House! These guys are the 69 Mets. You don’t want to give them credit, but they are 9 – 0. Start the Hating, Colts!
    10. St. Paul (6-3) — Nice Surprise, but St Francis is too much for them
    11. Whittier Christian (6-3) — Its a down year, but here come the playoffs.
    12. Arroyo (8-1) — Make it a great year and beat El Monte.
    13. Covina (8-1) — Still not convinced they are who thye say they are. Who are they? Will they win in the Playoffs?
    14. Santa Fe (5-4) — Another what if year for these guys!
    15. Monrovia (6-3) — All talk and no results. This has reminds me of Bishop Amat and bad coaching decisions at end of games. Sound familiar?
    16. La Serna (7-2) — Nice Defense.
    17. Diamond Ranch (5-4) — Coach Layton quietly getting his team ready for playoffs.
    18. Pomona (6-3) — Nice year. Still a year or 2 away!
    19. El Monte (6-3) — Go get Arroyo and make it a memorable season.
    20. Azusa (6-3) — Aztecs, will you be the 1st to take down the Warriors?

    21. BISHOP AMAT LANCERS (6-4) — Amat, amat, amat…What happend last Friday? You had the game, the season, and the Playoffs all but wrapped up and you took a dump in the Sherman Oaks out house! All the we coulda, we woulda, wait…wait I have another Excuse doesn’t get your Coach Hagerty away from the fact that he made a terrible decision in Kao throwing the INT! Moore?

You are 6 – 4 and you think you belong up higher? Really? Do you see who is up higher than you?

Are you in the playoffs? Will you get into the playoffs? Coin-flip? Really? How victorious of you!

    22. Bonita (5-4) —
    23. Pasadena (5-4) —
    24. San Gabriel (5-4) —
    25. Alhambra (7-2) —

Who will Charter Oak get a seed over? They are ranked 6th in the division …below a Rancho team that beat them and 4 undefeated teams that are ranked ahead of them in every poll. Plus, they still need to beat Chino hills this week which is not a given.

the 3rd place team in the Serra League will probably be sent to Mission Viejo or Long Beach Poly and the #1 seed, Servite will get the 4th place team in the Moore League, which is the weakest of the 5 leagues and should be the #16 seed. Once in the playoffs – anyone can beat anyone – as we’ve seen

The point is all he said was why is BA in the top 10 after a debockle of a season. Fredj went on to point some of CH flaws he didnt ask about Amat step up games which they went 1-4 in.

  • life at the top division

bully – when you’re in D1 there are no step up games – you are other peoples step up games.

BTW -you’re posting alot and still dodging questions on both blogs

  • Amat Bully

    life at the top division

So would beating a 1-9 division 1 team be still considered a step up game? and what question am i dodging

  • just askin’

how can Chills fan say is Amat’s season “a debacle” (correct spelling) at 6-4. If they lose to your boys they have the same record. And they were pretty lucky to beat a team Amat dominated

Fred continues his bash of CO….

    Fred Robledo said:
You’re right, Charter Oak, in my opinion, hasn’t won a true step-up in game in at least the last five years, which included their back-to-back championship run.

  • Amat Bully

09-10 season CO beat Etiwanda who was in a higher division in that same year that same Etiwanda team beat the RC team CO lost to….there is your step up game…..oh and if you consider a step up game is against any team thats in a higher division then lets not forget CO beat a pac5 school also and so what if they were terrible it still is a step up game. Like yall all say ITS THE PAC5

  • A-Team

Why is it that Amat Bully, a Charter Oak Fan, continually brings up, AMAT? Compares C.O. and everyone else to AMAT? Complains that it’s always, AMAT this or AMAT that but then writes something about AMAT? As a matter of fact, AMAT is the subject of 99.9% of his posts? Hey DIP-STICK! You’re the one keeping AMAT on the BOARD! Shut up already! Try following your own advice and stop bringing up AMAT!!! And change your screen name too. Or is that just your way of paying HOMAGE to your team?

  • Paul Revere.

Ranking Expert, First of all the monrovia has been in the playoffs the last 5 years 2nd Rd or better, after losing talent. Monrovia is RHL champs, going to be top four seed, and still has a shot to win it all… and the playoffs have not started yet. How are the Cats all talk and no results? I’d Say that’s good after losing the top player in the mid valley, who was there for 3 years in Bueno. I wonder what Schools like, Covina after they lose everyone this year, and San Dimas losses Kennedy..Monrovia has a strong Jr Class, and Both QB’s and WR’s and Both Middle linebackers are coming back and the freshman and Jv Lines are just as big as the Varsity…You are not a expert on anything.

  • really?

bully – Etiwanda is your “step up game? Are you serious?

That’s like saying Venice was Amat’s step up game because they are undefeated in their league and are the #4 seed among D1 teams in the City Section. Wait – maybe that WAS a good game after all?

and you still haven’t answered that question from this exchange. You asked:
“When is the last time Amat played a powerhouse team from the SGV? i bet you this every player on the varsity squad today wasn’t at BA yet.”

    and then avoided this:
Bully Boy – Completed a two year sweep vs West Covina and Diamond Ranch in 09. Could have picked the score vs. Diamond Ranch -it was that lopsided. Almost embarrasing. Rio. Moore, and Shay, got some carries and caught some passes those games. As sophomores. DR was in the Southeast final against ChOak for the 2nd year in a row (after beating WC and South Hills in semis) If they were not a “power” that certainly diminishes ChOak’s championship. Which do you prefer? Power or not? Did Amat beat a quality team? Or is ChOak a paper champion because they played in a weak division and beat a weak team in the finals? Twice. Your choice. Maybe you should choose your battles too!

    THEN you ran and hid!

  • Amat Bully

    really?
i forgot to post on here that i am no longer responding to fans and fans questions about a team that is not competing in this years post season. So i apologize to everyone for keeping the Amat family relevant.

To all top SGV teams Good luck this year let your teams represent the SGV right on all levels, the SGV fell short on one level but thats ok because the top SGV teams are still alive.

  • AMAT FAN

    You just responded NIT-WIT!

  • bully is a coward

so Bully – you ask a question, get an answer, and because you don’t have a legit response to the answer, you chicken out and say

“I’m not responding -nah, nah, nah, I know you are but what am I?”

you’re pathetic. just like a real bully – turns and runs when he gets smacked in he mouth

  • what is elite?

This is simple. Leave that team you’re not going to respond to out of it.

West Covina and Diamond Ranch are still in the playoffs and will probably go farther than the Chargers will. Are they an elite SGV team? If CO beat DR in the finals – were they elite? If West Covina was in the semis – are they elite? If CO was 6-4 last year and got blown in the 1st round – were they elite?

  • BigCat

It has long been a tradition at Monrovia that, when the ‘Cats have an opponent down, late in the game, instead of kicking the down opponent, the Monroivia coaches put in the 2nd, 3rd string, whatever. Yeah, other teams score on the ‘Cats late. Not a problem in the playoffs.

Good Luck to the teams in the Playoffs……
My predictions for the top 3 schools in the SGV.

inland division 2 CO: toughest division in So-cal but wins it all. (nothing less then semis exit if they dont win it all CO is by far the most explosive team in the SGV but they are playing in the toughest division and CO is one of the toughest teams in that division and will prove it)

Mid-valley division Covina: wins it all no one is going to mess with them. (only way they dont is if they beat themselves, i just dont see Monrovia or any other school getting by them)

Southeast division WC: wins it all its hard to go back to back but theyll do it. (if they were to lose it would be an early upset if there is no upset early say in the second round then WC walks away with it easy)

  • reality czech

bully – what has CO done to show they are one of the “toughest teams in that division”? A win over Roosevelt? Santa Fe? They lost twice by 50+! Losing to Rancho? (who didn’t even win their own league!) No offense – but explosive against South Hills and Ayala doesn’t fly against likely playoff opponents like Norh, Yucaipa, Norco, Miller, Murrita Valley, Los Osos, Chapparrel,

    In for a rude awakening

  • CO Charmin’s

Here’s what’s great. CO’s best win was against Roosevelt. Roosevelt has a MaxPreps rating of 21.9. La Mirada’s is 21.4 and that was supposed to be a cupcake game on Amat’s schedule. Great win! LOL. CHills is the next toughest team after Rancho and the results will be the same!

  • Monsignore Sandusky

Amat Blow Hards need to show some class and apologize to Notre Dame.

You can’t just show up at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and start beating up NC students (errr Score Keepers and Time Keepers) because you didn’t like the ending of the game.

The fact that you think that you are above Sportsmanship, Honor, Dignity, and Pride is why the SGV and soon all of the Serra League will you hate.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-CjOy7x5jQ

You have a 6 – 4 record and No Class. Damm you and damm your team from the 2011 playoffs!

  • The Ranking Expert

Paul Revere are you kidding me!

Monrovia is RHL champs? What the hell is RHL? Is it like CIF Champs? If not, we in the SGV don’t care.

The Cats are all talk and no results because every year we have to hear about the D-1 talent, the coach, and the team. And then, Nothing! Nada, Zilch! Comprende? I’d Say that’s all talk and no results.

Revere, don’t become Amat with all the “we woulda”, “we coulda”, “we are the best stuff.” Get it done and you’ll earn all the respect that Amat has lost in the SGV and more. Championships, Revere. Championships!

BTW, I noticed you didn’t complain about the #15 ranking. Seems to me that you are pretty satisfied with my assessment!

  • Charter Oak On My Mind

Cal Prep Rankings in Week 10 (State Rankings)

    # 31 Charter Oak (Covina, CA)
    Sierra, Inland Div (II) 8-1 4-0 (t 1st) 6-1 45.9 26.5

    # 38 Bishop Amat (La Puente, CA)
    Serra Pac-5 (I) 6-4 1-3 (5th – Errrr LAST PLACE) 1-4 44 37.7 59-32 LOSSES: #14 Servite (Anaheim, CA) (49-14 – Oouch!), #51 Loyola (Los Angeles, CA) (14-3), #95 Alemany (Mission Hills, CA) (26-21), #197 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, CA) (17-12)

In between them is the Tesoro Titans (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) at #32.

Remember the Tesoro Titans…? When was that?

  • Jeo Amat

I could help but notice on Maxpreps the following rankings:

    Inland Division:
#5 Charter Oak and #9 Chino Hills out of 32 representing schools.

    Southeast Division:
    #1 West Covina

    Pac 5 Division:
#19 Bishop Amat Lancers just right above Pac 5 powerhouse Long Beach Jordan, Wilson, and Milikan. This is out of 29 participating schools!

    Q. How would you prefer to get into the playoffs?
    A. Victorious and the Front Door or goat-like through the back-door?

  • Charter Oak On My Mind

Cal Preps Prediction for Upcoming Games:

Thu 11/10 Charter Oak (Covina, CA) at Chino Hills (CA), 7:00pm
    Projection: CHARTER OAK 31 – 21

    Fri 11/11 Crespi vs Loyola
Projection: Loyola (Los Angeles, CA) 31 – 21
Fri 11/11 Alemany vs Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, CA)
    Projection: NOTRE DAME 26 – 24

Oouch…! Amat you were so so so close to a “COIN-FLIP”!

  • Hey Fred Paterno!

Sounds like more Excuses from Fred Robledo:

“Amat still owns the best win in the San Gabriel Valley, beating Crespi on the road…I left Amat ahead of Covina and Chino Hills for two reasons, Covina’s biggest win is San Dimas and a close loss to West Covina, which isn’t good enough to move them past Amat.

So according to Fred J, if Bassett was 1 – 9 but somehow beat Servite, they too would be in the top 3?

This smells as bad Joe Pah’s 40 year old shoes and is clearly a PSU cover up!

    Fred

I want to say thank you for protecting the Amat Nation from the criticism that our beloved Joe Amat was receiving from those mean Charter Oak, West Covina and the rest of the SGV haters.

We love you for always protecting us, always making us #1 on your Blog (No matter what our 2011 records says), and for deleting the negative messages that the SGV tries to put on your blog.

We love you long time like ling ling, and we know you reach around for us also!

    Go Amat!

    XOXOXO!!!

    Fred Robledo Sucks:

Man fred is a true coward he hates on anybody that say anything true about Amat. that little guy need to GROW up LOL. And i did find it funny that he had his team still at #3 with 4 loses. out of there 5 so called step up games which i dont understand how there considered step up games when your in the same division, they went 1-4 and the Crespi team they beat isn’t even that impressive, i mean look who they lost to a 1-4 Amat team.

  • paul revere

Ranking Expert, congrats on being the number one monrovia hater lol…Monrovia won the Championship last year and the playoffs haven’t even started yet this year…at least let the Cats lose in the playoffs…before you say “no results”. Are you in the playoffs? Will you get into the playoffs? Coin-flip? Really? How victorious of you!

  • Can O Whoop A$$

    Who is Chino Hills?

Just a bunch of cow tipping, 1974 Ford truck driving, with bad sushi in that out door market they call a mall! Meth houses everywhere and a bunch of unemployed losers hanging out at the Yogurtland!

You got your a$$e$ handed to you by:
    Some school called Bear Creek?
    Then you got smoked by
    Tesoro 27 – 3
    Redlands East Valley 34 – 0
    Damien 28-27

And Damien, you needed a hail mary to win? Realy?

You sure don’t play like a Champion. Maybe tomorrow will be the end of that Championship! Tomorrow a new team will earn will earn that badge!

  • OldMan in Chino

    To Can O Whopp A$$,
I do know what section of Chino Hills you are referring to but to the best of my knowledge the majority of the cows in that area are in a section of Chino known as The Preserve. It is Chino that is known for having cows not Chino Hills; hence the athletic teams at Chino High School are known as The Cowboys. The outdoor market you are referring to has many high end stores that can also be found at Newport Fashion Island such as Forever 21, White House/Black Market, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Jos. A Banks and Jared Jewelry to name but a few. Once again I am aware that meth house do exist and that they can be found in both affluent and less affluent areas, as to unemployed losers hang out at Yogurtland I fail to see the point you are trying to make. Do all the allegations you are making are they intended to diminish the capability of Chino Hills High School to win the game on Thursday? Crenshaw High in South Central Los Angeles is not in an affluent area, yet they seem to be able to field a strong team, strong enough to compete for a State Title. I guess you are equating a lack of affluence and an agrarian setting with being a negative when it comes to fielding strong athletic teams. Norco High School has historically fielded strong athletic teams and they have many thoroughbred horse farms dotting their neighborhood. I am led to believe that since Chino Hills High School is a recent addition to the coverage area for The Tribune you are unaware of the demographics and socio-economics of the area you are speaking about. As to the game on Thursday, I truly believe that Charter Oak will need to bring their A game to the field or they could wind-up losing. I will also acknowledge that Chino Hills will need to play their best game on Thursday in order to stay with Charter Oak and secure a victory Good luck to both teams and hopefully it will be an injury free game for both of them.
