I want to know which FROSH TEAMS won league in the Whittier Daily News, Pasadena Star-News and Tribune areas.

Please post OVERALL records, too, if you can.

Here, I will start by going what I know.

Valle Vista League: San Dimas
Hacienda League: Diamond Bar, West Covina tie
Mission Valley League: Arroyo
Rio Hondo League: San Marino

  • Stop it

Please. There are no league championships for freshman, or jv. All you deluded lower level coaches can claim best league record, but there is no CIF recognition of it, so stop trying to pump up your sad little resumes. And, stop printing up those annoying “freshman league champs” t-shirts. You know, the ones with all the games, and scores listed. We’re not in JAA anymore. Get over it.

  • Freshmen reserve league Champs?, JV League Champs?

Come on Aram, where does it stop? What does a freshmen championship prove? Ayala wa 10-0 as freshmen 2 years ago…they didn’t make the playoffs..Chino Hills was league champs 3 years ago, they came in 2nd this year.

  • Hacienda

Not sure if it was West Covina or Diamond Bar. Both went 5-1 in league

  • AyalaBulldogFan

Freshman “League” Champs… not really a worthwhile discussion. The JAAF comment was spot on.

It should be a “who made the jump from last year’s Frosh team to this year’s Varsity team and is starting/contrinuting as a Soph”. THAT is a worthwhile discusion IMHO.

  • CH

CH : Jv 5-0 in league Frosh 4-1 prob doesn’t determine anything last year CO crushed our Frosh team this year our jv and Frosh won big so maybe its coaching?

  • CH

10-0. this years Husky varsity squad is the 10-0 jv team from 2 years ago. As freshman they lost 1 game ( what happened).

  • John Strickland

My JV team at San Dimas went 10-0!!!

  • Patrick

    Diamond Bar , Overall(8-2); League( 5-1)

    Co Champs w/ West Covina

  • Team Mom

ARROYO FRESHMEN – repeat undefeated Mission Valley Champs went 5-0!!!!

  • Coach Slayer

All players get a trophy and a juice box. Yummy!

  • SDfan

    You lost to Mtown….. 9-1

  • Titan Sports Fan

San Marino went 5-0 RHL and went 8-2 overall the last time they were league champs at the frosh level was about two decades ago …. if it amounts to anything we’ll have to wait and see …. bell gardens i’m sure went undefeated in league as well cuz they stomped on us and apparently anybody else they played!!

  • TeachDGame

Really people, come on, let it ride. Everyone wants to pound their chest about Varsity this Varsity that, but these kids deserve some recognition. Yes we all know it does not matter about who won Freshman Champs, and no one’s career in HS means a thing until you prove it on the Varsity Field… but damn, chill out. Let these Frosh have some fun too. This is the first High School experience for them, let em have it….

Now go back to the other blogs and bash on Amat, Charter Oak, Damien Coach, Monrovia Hype, Inland Empire Domination… Upland … whatever.

Before you start bashing me, My Kid is NOT on any Frosh squad so I’m not pumping my own….

  • I won CIF,was 1st team pretty much all everything and I consider frosh ball super important. For some like me it was the 1st time I played tackle. My frosh coach was one of the best coaches I ever had. After HS I played at Sac. and small college ball. So all the haters can get over it.

  • BG FAN

BG vs TORRANCE 48-0 BG vs SCHURR 68-6
BG vs EL RANCHO 0-20 BG vs MONTEBELLO 53-7
BG vs CANTWELL 60-0 BG vs SAN GABRIEL 62-7
BG vs SAN MARINO 64-6 BG vs KEPPEL 66-3
BG vs SO EL MONTE 78-0 BG vs ALHAMBRA 40-0

  • Cal Hi

California Frosh: 9-1 overal 5-0 league champions
California Jv: 9-1 overal 5-0 league champions

  • Just wondering

Why don’t we have CIF playoffs for lower level teams?

  • Freshman Football

, if your varsity sucks. The kids will transfer anyways…Most of the time a lot of the kids on freshman team didn’t play JAA especially the hogs up front. East LA wins JAA all the time and none of their High schools teams win anything….i don’t mind recognizing the kids.

  • X’s and O’s

Did I read that correctly? BG 78, SEM 0 WOW!!!! Has your coach ever heard of back ups or taking a knee?

  • Titan Sports Fan

    To X and O’s

SM frosh loss to BG 64-6 and to my understanding our coaches didnt feel like they ran up the score. They were a legit team with a large squad and a lot of talent on there bench. With that being said good coaches will coach through the whole game teaching etc especially at the freshmen level. They expect the kids to execute what they call regardless of score. your not going to ask your back ups to let up on a team when its their opportunity to shine and get on the field and make plays. If they were airing it out and throwing passes late than i would take issue but that was not the case at least against us we simply could not stop them running the ball late in the game.

And we werent a scrub team by any means. We won our league at the frosh level which should speak volumes to the amount of talent they have. It was good for boys to see that they have something to work to a team to strive and reach cuz down the road they could be playing playoffs…. maybe

  • there it goes!!!

Azusa Freshman went 7-3 overall and went 7-0 in League!!!!

  • well said

tech D game! well put! i think a kids 1st impression in high school is there freshman year! let them enjoy and teach them simple tech. and “stop it” sorry you feel that way maybe you did not have a good experence in that level…and true its all about varsity but let the kids have fun!!

  • BigCat

Hey Azusa…nice job. Who did you lose to besides San Dimas by 50?

  • Big Dog

BG should fire coach Ramos and hire the freshman coach and bring them up to varsity,so they can go back to the glory days!

  • Dan

    Aram, Patrick,
I may be wrong on this but being that Los Altos has two loses and is not one of the Hacienda Co Champs, West Covina would be the Champ because of the head to head win over the other first place team which was Diamond Bar. Had Los Altos had only one loss and was one of the Co Champs then I think it would be a three way tie for first. Opinions anyone?

  • to dan

league championships are determined by league record. head to head only matters for cif seeding.

  • Phantom Fan

For what it’s worth Cathedral Phantoms Freshman Mission league Champs. 8-2 with losses to Bishop amat 24-21 and St. Francis 7-6. That’s in a tuff League with Serra and Chaminade.

  • CallEmLikeISeeEm

Los Osos Frosh won the Baseline League Championship

  • Area Fan

Cathedral forfeited 2 frosh games for using soph players. That school is a joke. I heard many kids will be checking out at semesters end. No direction at that school. Thank fully 3 players will be suiting up for schools here in the SGV.

  • Correction

Rancho Freshman won the Baseline League Title going 5-0. The beat Los Osos 27-7!

  • Stop it

    Dan said: “Opinions anyone?”

So when are they planning the the coin flip to decide who wins the non-existent title?

    You people are pathetic.

  • cancel the super bowl

So, since high school football is not college football should we cancel CIF playoffs. And college is not the NFL, so no more BCS or bowl games? And while we’re at it, lets just cancel the super bowl because no one’s lives are riding on who wins or loses, and their just going to play again next year.

No one has said that frosh championships equal varsity championships, but they do give people something to look forward to. Don’t be so pessimistic. Just because they don’t become the best doesn’t mean they aren’t good.

Now, officially, CIF recognizes all championships for lower levels in all sports. They get a medal instead of a patch(such a big difference, i know). Things get recorded for lower levels just like Varsity, for people to look back at.

At least if you’re going to be so opinionated on a subject, get your facts straight.

  • billyb

Strickland is a lier. JV lost to Monrovia 28 – 14. Should have just let them take a kne coach.

  • there it goes!!!

oh by the way, azusa jv’s team won league also!!! led by coach chavez coach Gab(yup) and coach little scherf(LOU)..good job boys!!!! who cares what people think, all levels are important to all the kids!!!!!!!
