Your Jalen Moore recruiting update …

I got a chance to speak with Amat running back Jalen Moore and his dad at our All-Area picture day. Colorado, San Jose St., Eastern Washington and Villanova have shown the most interest in Moore and he is waiting on his SAT scores before figuring out his college plans.

  • smalllcitymc

I hope everything works out for him. He was a blessing to Amat. By the way, my choice is Villanova. Excellent School, but then again my choice doesn’t really matter.

  • UH OH….SAT Scores this late in the game???

Why wouldn’t his coaches and /or counselors pushed for him to get a qualifying/good score earlier? Recruiters don’t like to play the waiting game with a bubble kid like this. The first things recruiters ask when they come talk to us is “Did he clear the NCAA clearing house??, whet is his GPS and what score did he get on his SAT/ACT?) I can’t stress enough to young people, if you have plans of playing at the next level, get cleared early, take you SAT’s early (in case you need to retake them for a better score), and keep your grades up. Do yourselves a favor and avoid a lot of stress. College coaches love to recruit responsible kids who do not have grade issues.

  • GPA…not GPS in message below…lol

    Damn auto correct!

  • next level

Well I hope Jaylen finishes strong. I would of that his SAT scores would be in by now. This could be a big road block for him. As time passed and we get close to Feb signing day, Coaches are going to moving on to the next prospect, if things are not together. If they want him bad enough, they will wait.

Who knew Eastern Washington & Villanova even had football teams??

    Jefe
I did Eastern washington won the D1aa championship last year and they are in the big Sky conference and the y recruited and signed Pasadena’s Alemany Vernon lil skeet Adams. And Villanova won the D1aa championship a few years. Maybe you should try to become a real sports fan before you knock a kid thats getting recruited by some nice schools.

And im am not an Amat fan

  • CoViNa

Jefe, if any of these schools wouldve recruited your sorry a#$ your gonna tell me, you wouldnt have excepted them. Get a life loser. Too bad you were a bench warmer when u played, if u played…

  • sgvfan

Whats really sad is that we send these kids to school in hopes that these educators/coaches will do whatever they can to help further these kids educations. It seems that that these coaches just use them for football and once football ends, their relationship ends. I hear this is quite common at quite a few local schools. U hear how great these kids are all year long, and what r the coaches doing to help them to get to the next level, whether its D-1, D-2, D-3 OR 1-AA. Whatever, you coaches/educators are obligated. A couple schools that come to mind are B.A., Covina.

  • sgvfan come on

    sgvfan,

I can tell you never went to Amat. I had friends who graduated from the school and played at the college level. Education was always a priority for that program. The coaching staff and the faculty were always there to counsel them. Nobody knows the details of Moore’s SAT situation so it’s difficult to speculate but I can assure you Bishop is doing what they can to get this kid in the right school.

And we all KNOW that if Eatern Washington and Villanova won championships they MUST be better than UCLA who only went 6-6. After all – they have championships! That’s how it works – right?

This Monrovia Wildcat homer is rooting for any kid who gets a scholarship not matter what highschool he attended. I could careless if he attended Amat, South Hills, Covina,Pomona, Arcadia etc. It’s very difficult to get a scholarship and we all should be rooting for each of these young mens continued success. CONGRATS to any of you signing a NLI on Feb 1st 2012. Remember if you get there finish, being homesick is natural, but no reason to come home. Good Luck

sounds like William Wagner all over again

    Jefe,
FYI Howie Long , Hall of Famer , Superbowl Champ , you guessed it , Villanova alum , so maybe they do play a little football there . Not a Raider fan just a Ram fan who’s thankful his son Chris Long seems to be a chip off the old block and a St Louis Ram . Nice run this season by the way.
Good luck to Jalen on getting that scholarship , wherever he winds up I know he is prepared for success. Maybe with EB at Colorado they have an inside track as I have heard they are also looking at Blue when he graduates .
    sgvfan,
Your post says a lot about your frame of thinking. How about parent involvement in that formula. Also you really don’t know shiat if you think AMAT is not geared to get all their students to make it to and succeed at the next level be it thru sports or academic rewards.

  • GoAmat

Wish u the best of luck Moore. Thank you for all your hard work on the Amat football team. God bless!

Do you mean like how D1aa Sacremento state beat D1 Oregon state who beat Arizona, Washingtin and Washington state.

  • dumb and Dumber

Any Mouse – no i mean more like the 1740-388-17 record that D1 schools hold over D1AA Wchools since they have separated. Ad that measli D1AA winning % is about 4 times the SGVs winning % vs Amat recently!

    Covina,

Considering I went to UCLA (not to play football), no, I would I wouldn’t have accepted those offers LOL.

    AMAT 73,

I know. I was just being a smartass. I’m happy for the kid. He’ll receive a find education at either school.

    *I wouldn’t

    *fine

    Damn typos.

Who cares if the kid goes to Podunk U, Appalachian State, UCLA or USC… It’s still an opportunity.

I can see the lunatics clearly run this asylum.
