Your Diamond Bar update: So far only a Bishop Amat transfer from the frosh team … and NEW unis …

As I said back in whenever, Diamond Bar would be an interesting program to follow with Snoop’s kid Cordell Broadus now on the team. Eh, thus far, from what I can gather, there hasn’t been a influx of future stars leaving the 310 or LBC or Compton or wherever for Diamond Bar.

The only transfer so far? Isaiah Thompson, a running back who split time on Bishop Amat’s frosh team last season.

Something else I can tell you is that the Brahmas will be wearing new uniforms this year. I deduced it from reading my “Brahma Blitz” monthly Diamond Bar football newsletter. Either the home or road jersey, I can’t tell which, will say “DBAR” across the front. I like it.

Aram’s take: Have to say I’m a little disappointed. I figured Snoop would pull some strings and get some out-of-area talent to make its way to D-Bar. So far it supposedly hasn’t happened yet, but the Rancho Tournament on May 19 is gonna be like post-prom night festivities and we’ll see exactly what the Brahmas are working with. A QB needs to be found, but I love the RB combo of Austin Szulczewski and Tyler Brown. And Cordell Broadus already has a legit frame and will only be a sophomore.

” You Don’t Want No Green and White “

  • Aaron

These were on twitter about two months ago.

  • patrick

Well Aram! you will just have to wait and see!

  • just askin’?

FYI – Hs football wears Dark at home and White on the road. Looks like the “DBAR” uni is on the road and “BRAHMAS” is at home. This format is typical with many teams who use their mascot nickname at home (if you’re at DB you already know they’re Diamond Bar) and the school name on the road for identification purposes.

And doesn’t getting your stories from the “Brahma Blitz” monthly Diamond Bar football newsletter sorta seem similiar to getting stories from scanning player/coaches Facebook pages?

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    Just askin’

Clearly you need a little tutorial. Hypothetically, and this may hit too close to home for you, but hypothetically …

If Arroyo receiver Hunter Duran goes on his Facebook or Twitter acct. and makes a post saying “It’s great to be out here running routes and catching balls again” and a reporter decides to use that in a story updating what Duran is doing, then that reporter SHOULD tag what he quoted with something like “Duran said on his Facebook page”.

But if I don’t do that, then it gives the impression that I actually talked to Duran or was out at wherever he was running routes at practice.

If I ever sourced something somebody on Facebook or Twitter, I would do just that and say “according to a posting on his/her Facebook acct”

As you can see, I attributed the info about the D-Bar uniforms to seeing it in the Brahma Blitz. And I’m sorry, but a newsletter is an actual publication and not a social media website, or specifically a teenager’s Facebook account.

Unlike others, I don’t scour the Facebook accounts of kids looking for fodder for my articles. Same with coaches.

Twitter is different as many major media news outlets often refer to what an athlete or coach put on his Twitter feed. And of course they have to tell you they did just that and got it from Twitter.

If certain other so-called outlets had to do that, then you’d find out that about 90 percent of their content is coming from Facebook and that would look even worse than it already does.

    You’re welcome,
    Daddy

  • just askin?

Aram – thanks for the “tutorail” on journaistic ethics.

and, you’re welcome for the “tutorial” on NFHS home & away uniform rules.

    Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep,

What is that you ask? Well, that’s the sound of Aram backing in to hitch up to the Dbar bandwagon again. I see he’s early this year. I guess he wants to be first this year. DB, you should be very afraid. Aram hitched up to a few bandwagons last year, they all crashed shortly after. So DB, looks like you will be the first one, and it isn’t even summer passing league yet.

    SGV430 Ouuutttt!!

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

Yeah, looks like I jinxed San Gabriel right into a league title and CIF championship game last year.

  • football IQ

Aram, looks like MS is still after you using his dif names hahahaha watch out aram

  • patrick

Ah, let the hating and bashing begin!! Tis the season! I’ll leave you with this “Sgv for 30 yrs”….”You reap what you sow” You speak words of misfortune for a good group of 16-17 yr olds! I pray that the lord has mercy apon you for that your words dont backfire on you! These are “Kids” …learn to be encouraging NOT belittling! Peace Out!

  • sgv guy

snoops nephew kenya bell was also a starter on varsity as a freshman.he is defensive back and punt returner.

  • SGV For 30 Years

    Patrick,

Buddy I think you misunderstood my post. I’m by no means a basher of 16 and 17 year olds, or a hater. Infact, I’m just the opposite. I have have great respect for the work ethic it takes to participate in any sport. I was refering to Aram’s comments about how he thought more athletes will be coming into DB because of the presents of one of the new DB supporters. And about how he jumped on the bandwagon of certian teams last season then jumped off after they lost games he thought they should have won. So Patrick, thank you for your prayers. We all need someone saying a prayer for us. Please make mine for health and safety.

    PS.

Picking WC was a huge risk Aram…..LOL

    Sgv for 30 yrs!,

Then my apologies! I stand corrected..:)

  • The Cupboard Is Bare

I’m really surprised that DB would take a kid from Amat. How empty is that cupboard over at Amat? Oh how that mighty lancers have fallen.

    Cubano,

No, I haven’t. Is it still good? Should I hit it up?

  • still the best

wow! thanks for posting the link to that boxscore. looks to me like Amat was within 3 pts in the 4th quarter with the State Champion. everyone else in the valley woulda been down by a bundle early – like ChOak was when they played Upland! Amat is still tops

  • Tony Tiger

The game of football is 4 quarters long, not 3 quarters like many of you Amat honks would like people to believe. It’s irrelevant what the score was after 1 quarter, 2 quarters, or 3 quarters. The only score that is relevant is the 45-21 final score. Check out the total yardage of 540 vs 306. Anyway you look at it, it’s still a blowout loss.

  • Hype Machine

Because of Amat’s tradition, preparation, and discipline they still would be very hard to beat by any SGV team, however, the loss of and lack of talent is not helping the lancers in the brutal pac 5 division. The question is why are players not wanting to go to or stay at Bishop. Are they tired of losing in Pac 5? Is there a coaching player relation issue? Is the tuition too expensive in this brutal economy? I understand there are up and downs. What would the amat fans consider this period? I know they will play hard and try to win with the guys they have, but who do they have?

  • cubano

  • Sgv fan

Isiah Thompson the transfer from amat to Db is not a big deal like Adam is trying to make it.he went to south pointe middle school in walnut.he was not even one of the top athletes.from what I here he is leaving amat because he was not one of the top backs on freshman team. South pointe is where snoops kid and nephew went.
