CIF State Federated Council enacts new transfer rules. They will be in effect on July 1 …

The controversial new transfer rules for high school athletes that were approved by the Southern Section at last month’s council meeting were passed Friday at the State Federated Council meeting and will be in effect starting July 1.

Aram’s take: So no more “athletically motivated” sit outs. Of course, a player can still not technically transfer for athletically motivated reasons, but you’d have to be an idiot to get dinged for that in your paperwork. Most importantly, no more kids sitting out an entire calendar year or losing their senior seasons. Too late for some, which is sad. But at least others won’t be so effected. I doubt it’s the disaster the doomsdayers say it will be and I also doubt it will be the free-for-all some supporters think it will be.
