Monrovia LB Brett Walsh commits to Northwestern …

Monrovia standout linebacker Brett Walsh committed to Northwestern on Tuesday.

Walsh led Monrovia in tackles last season with 192 and forms the area’s top linebacker tandem with George “G5” Frazier, who is headed to Colorado.

Walsh also had offers from Nevada and South Dakota.

Aram’s take: Great choice! You got BigTen football and great academics … and Chicago nearby. Congrats to Walsh!

Are those the BIG LIGHTS and BIG STADIUMS You guys were talking about or are they the Under lit crummy seated stadium in the heart of La Puente that turn you on?… Congratulations Brett, use every inch of that scholarship to gain whatever life has in store for you and bring your lettermen’s jacket with you to show your comrades that you are a winner and a proven scholar. Have a great season at MHS.

  • Henry

Congratulations! A Northwestern degree surely will open a lot of doors for him in the future.

  • AMAT 73

Congratulations to this fine young man . Great choice in schools as Northwestern is a fine academic institution . Good luck in the future.

Someone tell me a little bit about Northwestern? I honestly don’t even know where they are located.

PS a scholarship is a scholarship even if you got playing at a lower division. Congrats I’m sure you have made your family and fans very elated with your D1 scholarship. Keep up the hard work more offer will come!

  • Observantcat

I understand that the running back from Sierra Canyon will be joining you up there. Xavier Minnifield. Good luck to both of you, make the Mid Valley proud.

  • Frank

Congratulations make Monrovia and the Sgv proud!

  • Not So Fast My Friend

Are you being funny, or are you actually serious? Lol

Northwestern is one of the best universities in the country. For 2012, they’re ranked 12 (I had to look that up). They’re in Chicago.

Athletically, they’re program is on the rise, but still considered so-so. But who cares? A degree from Northwestern carries a LOT of weight. They have a lot of alumni that live in So. Cal and are in various influential positions in business, government and politics. They’re medical school is pretty good as well. (I didn’t have to look that up)

Congrats to Brett Walsh out of Monrovia on getting the offer. That’s a big accomplishment.

Funny thing though, I’ve made it clear I’m not a Monrovia homer, but clearly they’re producing athletes that are capable of playing collegiate level football. Given that many come on this blog rag them about being D11, they must be doing something right. It would appear “level of competition” doesn’t really matter in this case. These kids are obvious athletes.

  • Aram

    SGV Football,

I know it’s not Michigan, but please tell me you’re kidding about not knowing what Northwestern is.

They play in the BigTen, Aram’s FAVORITE conference (and in my opinion the best conference in the country).

You can wiki it if you’re that lost, but the school is near Chicago and was originally the university of the northwest (I think). It’s for brainiacs. They win many games a year simply because they’re smarter.

They lost to Auburn a few years ago in a New Years Day bowl in one of the very best games of that bowl season (and almost a monumental score for yours truly).

Aram/ Not so fast my friend,

I was dead serious I remember vaguely hearing about that program it might have been the Auburn game… After that tad bit of information I had no clue as to who Northwestern was. Most be a decent program if they are in the Big Ten with some pretty big name teams!

  • Margarita bill

there is noway in the world you were serious when you stated that the big 10 in your opinion is the best conference in the world when by all means that is the weakest BCS selected conference in the ncaa….

  • Aram

Was that a BigTen team in Michigan St. I saw beat Georgia last year on New Years? Was that a BigTen team in Michigan I saw beat Va. Tech in the Sugar Bowl (a BCS bowl) last year? Second straight year a BigTen team won the Sugar Bowl (my Buckeyes beat an SEC team). Year before that my Buckeyes beat Oregon to win yet another BCS bowl (Rose).

Can’t help that Wisconsin crapped the bed the past two years in the Rose, losing by a combined 9 points.

BigTen is still not as bad as the media portrays.

  • Desert Rat

Yes OCat…Xavier did verbal to Northwestern. He’s a really good RB! He’ll be the heart and soul of Sierra Canyon’s team this year.

  • Mid Valley Fan

I love it how this turns into the Big Ten sucks rather then being happy for this kid….Wow. This is the exact reason why “bloggers and blogs” get a bad name. Silly

Congrats to the young man. What a blessing to play at the next level, regardless of where it’s at.

  • AyalaBuldogFan

Congrats to the young man and as well as for frazier, a scholarship is a scholarship whether your coming out of playing D7 ball, it dosent matter. Hopefully we will get to see what they are all about which will be game 2 for us and there season opener, i think its going to be a good game, once again congrats

Dude shut up!!!!!! it was just a remark to Aram you only see one post about the big 10 with Aram responding. Aram and myself have congratulated the young man already. the topic has not changed unlike the numerous of topics that was changed for a bash Amat session. And your one of the losers that talk about bloggers but blogs…….

  • Mid Valley Fan

Can’t have it both ways….just say congrats the kid, period, and end it there. You don’t seem to get it….by turning the convo in another direction it lessons the original post. Especially dealing with where kids end up going to school. With all due respect that’s the point. What’s legit ball, D2 vs, NAIA, Big Ten this or that…and so on. And to think this isn’t an issue on this and other blogs, is just silly.

    Mid Valley Fan

I didnt know you ran the blog and set up all the rules. if i want to talk about something else i will and i did as well as the person who runs the blog and like i said before i congratulated the kid already now if i wanna speak on something else then i will, just like the rest of the monrovia and amat fans that invade all the blogs and change subject to a we’re better than you argument. Now that its a monrovia kid you feel the need to play captain save a subject get serious if Aram had a problem with it he wouldnt had answered back with his opinion or his facts.

  • Oldguy1

Congratulations, the intelligent people below don’t realize the value of a Northwestern degree. Please forgive the less fortunate. Hope you help lead them to the Rosebowl.

  • Anonymous

Your right i really dont, i mean being a graduate/alumni from Berkeley “2001” i have no idea.

  • Aaron

Northwestern is an amazing school. Have fun and earn your degree at one of the best Universities in the country Brett!

  • JMO

I’ll take private over a state school everyday hippie lettuce smoking tree hugging boy.
Go back up north already, we hate your kind down here!

  • Anonymous

Of course dudes like you would hate my kind (
well educated, career living and happily married with kids) i believe your the prototype for haters.

  • Oldguy1

As a so- called dad with a Cal degree, sounds more like jealousy than anything else. A degree doesn’t release you from your ignorance you are displaying in regard to a high school student accepting a scholarship offer to a highly regarded educational institute. BTW, this isn’t about the adults, Congratulate and move on.

  • greenie…

Northwestern is ranked higher than Cal. However, a degree means nothing. Once you get in the real world, smart people succeed. Life accepts degrees from Colleges and the school of hard knocks. College, is a great experience in young persons life. It’s rest stop for the real world, once they graduate. College is not the Only way. It’s not the end all be all. I went. However Let Brett Shine, it’s his time… not yours.

  • JMO

Well educated, business owner and happily married with children for twenty years my liberal young tool. I do dislike your kind and don’t forget it, which school do you back you mighty golden bear cub?

  • Anonymous

    Oldguy1 and JMO

You two dudes need to scroll down and read when i congratulated him, my remark was to ARAM the blog owner, he responded now you two IDIOTS relax and im VERY proud of my education Cal has always been one of the highest ranked schools academically. I would love to hear where you guys graduated from. It never was a matter of my education to his signing go down and read it over and try real hard to comprehend. One more thing i never bashed this kid at all not once dont throw that in to make yourself feel as if you did or said something right all you did was create a cyber attack from similar IDIOTS like yourself and the follower GREENIE.

im guessing for your sake you just got caught up being a follower. You or those other two dummies cant show me where i made this about me if i wasnt responding to an individual remark about the blog and myself. If i get bashed i will bash back educated or not and your right you dont need a degree in this world to make it, but in my case i got one and im making it just fine. And to answer your question my alma mater is the great Golden Knights of St. Francis

  • JMO

You keep making our point douche bag, keep it up hippie boy.

  • green pastures…

I’m greenie…you are Anonymous…Don’t rep the name of the school you think is going to beat Monrovia…you gutless, spineless, yellow fairy poor excuse for a blogger…lol. Stand up and tell the world who you really are

  • Anonymous

    green pastures

I thought this blog was about congratulating a young man on his accomplishments that your Dumbass didnt achieve (city college doesn’t count). and dude im an alumni from St. Francis, i don’t care about Monrovia or their disgruntled fans. For the last time my statement was to the blog owner get over it. I guess i have to do what we were taught to do at St. Francis and that’s to be the bigger man and just move on, because no matter how much you try to teach a WILDCAT discipline, it wont understand until you smack it around a few times. And on September 28, 2012 those little kittens will definitely get smacked around and hopefully idiotic fans like yourself will SHUT UP. By the way i didn’t know your parents named you GREENIE i guess the apple really doesn’t fall to far from the tree.

Your an embarrassment to Southern California. I grew up in So-cal from St. Francis high so relax dude i only went to college up north because it was better than UCLA and USC, my other choices of school i passed on. Lets just agree to disagree this young man has a bright future ahead of him yours might be a little dim now but hey thats your fault.

  • JMO

    Anon eeerrrrrrrr Rachel Maddow,

Go back to Nocal because your the embarrASSment to Socal tool boy. Nobody gives a rats A$$ where you went to high school or your libby college, just say congrats to the young man and shut your pie hole already.

  • Not So Fast My Friend

    one word: Unreal.

This was a post for a kid getting an offer to Northwestern. Somehow it’s dissolved into a smash session over other colleges, other high schools, etc.

Dang fella’s, breathe and release. lol. let it go. lol

  • Mid Valley Fan

    To Anon

Guess what, you’re arguing with “everyone”….jus sayin.

What does that tell you? Wait, don’t answer that.

  • hcg drops

That is a proper developed guide. My spouse took pleasure in perusing it considerably. There are plenty of websites on the internet at present, and therefore a lot of facts, you’ll find it really hard to express what’s solid, also what folk slightly make-up. The actual same is true of meal plans or some kind of form of weight management. I have examined quite a lot n regards to the effective hcg diets, in addition am not certain what to determine from the entire thing. Seemingly hcg injections are known as the option, nevertheless they look really expensive, however, you must have a medical expert. What i’m debating about easy hcg drops, if in case they will go a long way. You’ll notice total simple hcg drops, but also holistic painless hcg drops at your disposal all over. We can get user friendly hcg drops on Walmart today. The dietary plan which in turn complements hcg, seems like it can be a starvation diet when they admit you take in not so much as 500 calories from fat every day. We would assume that customers were going to shed unwanted weight inside any weight loss that adheres to that. They even say hcg allows you to be capable of stick to the food diet, and aids our bodies to burn more and more extra fat.

  • mobile web design

Hello there, I discovered your website by way of Google whilst looking for a similar topic, your website came up, it seems great. I have added to my favourites|added to my bookmarks.

  • calories to lose weight calculator

Good site. Thank you for writing that. I will definitely check back to read more and tell my friends about you

Impressive a proper crafted web page. I actually was pleased with perusing it considerably. There are numerous membership sites over the internet right now, therefore such a large amount of information, it should be very difficult to see what is proper, in addition to what regular people simply just make up. Exactly the same thing is true of weight loss programs or any type of way of weight management. I’ve gone through a lot more relating to easy hcg diets, and after that am lost what to uncover as a result of the whole thing. It seems like hcg injection therapy are now the technique to use, they also may seem overpriced, and you simply need to have a health specialist. I happen to be curious about using the hcg drops, just in case these products really work. You might discover truthful hcg drops, also naturopathic easy hcg drops made available all over the world. Somebody may even find easy hcg drops over at Walmart at this point. This diet that experts claim goes with hcg, may sound like it is just a hunger diet when they say that you consume as low as 400 calories daily. I’d think that clients would only get it shape with any daily diet like that. Additionally they say that hcg allows you to realize ways to stay on the diet plan, but also motivates your whole body to help melt away far more weight. Thanks, hcg.
