La Serna football fever spreads to Yahoo! Sports …

La Serna is starting to make headlines outside of the local area. The Lancers’ upset of Westlake has led to Yahoo! Sports doing a story.

Aram’s take: Well deserved for the Lancers. who took their share of criticism after the West Covina blowout loss last year in the Southeast finals.

Frankie Palmer explained on the Tuesday show that his team is PROUD to display the 84-21 score because it reminds everyone that they have “64 points to go for a title.” Friday’s game with Norco gives the Lancers an opportunity to collect yet another motivational score, and I wish them well in that quest.

  • Amat 75 lol

Thats kind of an embarrassing headline they are only getting recognition because for one they are undefeated but for the most reason is because they came off a 63 point defeat and had a high school record broke on them with a running clock LOL…..but if thats the publicity you want your team to have then hey i guess in your world a lemon is sweeter then an orange.

Norco wins big this week, Norco is big and physical and runs the wing t, or at least they used to run it, either way they will know how to defend it, and shut it down. I’ve got a feeling Westlake is not used to seeing the wing t offense and had trouble defending it when they played La Serna. Combine that with putting in a sophomore QB and not having your starting tailback, plus a fired up La Serna going against an overconfident Westlake and you have the ingredients for a major upset like last week. This week unfortunately will be different. Norco wins this by 3 touchdowns or more.
With that said, I hope it doesn’t happen that way, I hope La Serna can take the momentum from last week and pull off another David vs Goliath upset this week. I don’t think it will happen but it would sure creat a stir in the SGV and Whittiers area if it did.

Dan has is pretty well summed up. Personally, I’d love to see La Serna win Friday however unlikely.

Norco is HUGE, and not just on the line either. They run a spread formation with the read option relying on a QB who has been on a HS football field since he was in diapers. Coach Gerhart’s baby, Colt plays QB at about 210 pounds and brings almost 400 yards and 5 td’s rushing to go with an efficient passing game. Not quite as big or fast as Toby, but he’s only 17.

Did I mention huge? Lot’s of ’em too. I don’t know how many kids the Coug’s are going to bring but if you live on Parise Street and order pizza on Friday, be sure and have it delivered before 5 because there are going to be a lot of buses in front of your house.

  • They Still Put Their Jocks On One Strap At A Time:

    La Serna 42 Norco 30

With La Serna’s season such a hot topic, why is the Whittier blog still shut down? Fred declared the WDN blog ready to roll, but still nothing gets through and none of the prep writers elsewhere want to talk about it. Are your balls made of marshmallow?
