La Puente QB Ivan Vasquez back home after being released from hospital …

La Puente High School quarterback Ivan Vasquez was released from a local hospital early Saturday morning and is back at home, Warriors head coach Brandon Rohrer said via text message.

Vasquez suffered a neck injury after being tackled in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 37-7 loss to Gladstone. He lay motionless on the field after the injury and was treated on the scene by paramedics before being transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Vasquez is moving his arms and legs, but his neck is still “really sore”, according to Rohrer.

Coaches from both teams agreed to end the game with 9:56 still on the clock.

Might be the best “unis” in the Valley.

Great news. Must have been heart wrenching last night for ever one concerned.

Cot74 said a great prayer last night on line.

Never underestimate the power of prayer.

    Way to go kid !!!!

Way to go Ivan! Use the next couple of days to take in how many people there are out there that care for you. Start with your family.

SANFORD DAD… I just put down into words what I heard everyone out there thinking.

Not to get all mushy but Colt74 did us all proud last night and brought out the best of what the blog can be.

In the end it’s only a game and these kids, minors really, are risking every thing for their school, their team and their family. We forget that sometimes when we’re all trying to be the smartest one in the room.

In every game and on every play their will be winners and losers, even in ties, but we all have to remember it can all come to a halt in a second.

Last night as we all blogged and pulled or dissed we were reminded of how frail we all are when one of “us” is down.

God answered some one’s prayer last night, not every one is so blessed. In the movie War Horse both sides laid down their arms when faced with a unifying moment of humanity. Last night Ivan Vasquez did that as well.

Colt74 I still get chills knowing God spoke through you to all concerned. Takes a big man to stand up and proclaim his faith with such power and beauty. I am humbled beyond words and have re-read your prayer many times.

    Praise the Lord.
