Better bag on Amat before Freddy gets there.

    • Not So Fast My Friend

      Lol!

  • 12th man

Did Fred & Aram over look RC & were too focused on Santa Margarita & Chino Hills? Nobody was really listening to what i was saying..Anyways~ I wasn’t at the game so i don’t know the specifics..but what i do know is that perhaps coach hags made some questionable decisions? That’s 5 missed 2pt conversions in the last 2 games (maybe it’s time to kick the extra point unless it’s late in the 4th & the game is on the line) In no means can you win with this one..it’s like a catch 22..If you convert the 2pts each time you look like a genius! If you fail everyone becomes a coach & a critic..

Amat breakdown: This is for you Amat 73!!

I don’t have one for Amat but I do have one for Alemany!

    Alemany Breakdown!

    Alemany-42 Narbonne-14

Alemany’s defensive line is solid they’re not too big but very athletic..they plug up holes quick & make the RB’s really work just to get 2-3 yds..Defensive Ends on both sides are legit, keeping containment on the QB all night & didn’t allow him to roll to the outside once..defensive backs have speed & can swarm to the ball if the QB doesn’t look off receivers & telegraphs his passes..lookout for #3 Brandon Boyd this kid has a knack for the ball & is all over the field laying some hits (ronnie lott style) & has deceptive speed..didn’t see impressive play by the linebackers..it seems like if you can get them too bite on a play action you can successfully gain about 5-7 yards..

Alemany’s offensive line aren’t as big as previous years & at times look vulnerable in protecting the pocket..but they still have the traditional elusive dual threat QB who loves to run the play action QB keeper every 2-4 plays..when he’s not running with the ball he has a quick 2 step drop & releases short passes all day..It also seemed like every now & then he try’s to catch you sleeping & will deliver a hailmary about once or twice each quarter..to keep you honest..I would definitely cover #13 desean Holmes with my most athletic & fastest player..this kid is crazy fast & does most of his damage after the catch..Some things never change Alemany still has the ability to strike quick if they sense confusion on the defensive side..this game was a defensive struggle up until the 3rd quarter started,,that’s when Alemany came out swinging & scored 4td’s in 8min..

    Overall performance: perhaps a B+
Alemany looked strong at times but the Narbonne QB did not have quick feet & was a non-factor running with the ball ..I would say the overall team speed isn’t what it was the previous 4 years..they look young & athletic bit that’s it..they remind me of this year’s Amat’s team..if ever thas was a year for Amat to take them out..I would say this is the year~

    • Amat Dad

If Amat’s coaches continue making terrible calls we will not beat the good teams. Our clock management was pathetic. First, let me say RC is a good team. But if we are up by 12 points with just over 5 minutes, we should be pounding the ball and killing the clock. Instead, after we gain 5 on first down, and we are in our own territory, we pass and throw a pick. Three times we went for 2 and failed. Twice on fourth and long, we went for it and failed. The second time we tried that we could have punted and pinned RC deep. Instead, we turn over on downs and practically give the ball to RC at mid field. Don’t get me wrong, RC played hard, and never gave up. But Amat had multiple chances to close the door, and the coaching calls gave the ball back to RC in great field position. The players play the game, but the coaches direct the game. Tonight Amat’s coaches were pathetic the entire night.

      • 12th man

Sometimes when the game ends, it’s easy to point blame (could of, would of,should of) I’m also guilty of sometimes trying to dictate & coach the game in my head..but the funny part is most of the time I think i’m right lol..1st of all..there’s no doubt Amat has the best coaching staff in the SGV..we have to realize that they’re making split second decisions that won’t always work in their favor & could affect the outcome of the game..but as coaches for a high profile SGV football school I hold them to high standards & do expect them to go with the numbers (odds) My advice to you would be to re-analyze the game have a 48 hour cooling period & you will probably see the game a little differently & probably come to the conclusion that it was a combination of things that lead to the loss…your opinion might not change in 48 hours but your approach for posting your take on the game might..it’s not always good to blog right away if you’re really an Amat parent? You don’t want to piss off the old timers here..I can already tell you Amat 73 will chime in.. Never the less..I hear it was a good game~ I can bill you for the therapy session later lol…Good luck next week~

        • GP AKA Green Machine

Very true…when you watch a NFL game…they always punt on 4th an 1 after a 9 yard gain, when most fans are screaming go for it. They almost always kick the extra point. Those little ones and twos add up when the clock strikes 00:00. Amat is normally on the money in this area. It sounds like tonight they wanted to beat their lower level opponent so bad, they just gambled a little too much and crapped out. Alemany looked good… ND held Serra to 13 in regulation. Amat has their hands full come league. They will have 3 games to get over this and get ready for league. RC is a top 20 team. No shame in the loss. It’s just that league will be tougher for them.

        • Amat Dad

I’m actually an old timer. My son graduated in 2000. I go to the games because I’m a true Amat alumni, and devoted fan. I won’t lose sleep over this game, but I call it like I see it. I don’t see things the way you see them in regards to the coaches. I like what Hagerty has brought to the program, but I question over the last three years how Verdi calls the offense. Many a game I have wondered about Verdi’s clock management.

    • AramT

I don’t think Aram and Fred overlooked Rancho. For crying out loud, didn’t Amat GIVE WAY 17 points in the blink of an eye?

      • haditwiththisfool

We gave this one away period.

      • 12th man

I wouldn’t say “they gave 17 points” at the end of the day..your defense has to step up & keep you in the game after a turnover & keep the opposing team to a field goal at best..Show me where it’s written saying that turnovers will always 100% result in points? I’m sure turnovers was a piece of the puzzle but it wasn’t the whole tale of the tape~

        • Amat Dad

Amat gave away 2 touch downs. The two opening fumbles gave RC the ball deep into our territory. They strolled in for their first 2 scores. When we settled down, we dominated on D in the second and third quarters, and took a 2 score lead. This is where time management wins against good teams. Our defense was on the field too much at the end because of poor play calling. Again, with the lead and in our own territory, we needed to pound the ball. Our run game was clicking nice, and Camargo is good for 4 plus yards a carry. Why risk the turnover with a pass?

          • 12th man

Why does it have to be, we gave away 2 td’s? Why didn’t the defense hold them to field goals or to zero points for that matter? So what it boils down to is..either RC earned those 2 TD’s or the Defense sucks after turnovers..(you have to give the opposing team credit at some point)

          • AMAT 73

All these post have views which have merit. It’s evident good teams turn TO’s into points. Like I posted on another thread , you can’t turn the ball over to good teams , and RC is a good team , and expect it not to come back and bite you . Hopefully the adjustments will be made and the same mistakes will not be made again . As i can see we are our own worst enemies at this point . Team is solid , offense can score but it’s hard to have to keep coming back from TO’s and yes holding them to FG’s would have been better but as I said RC is a good team . Now it’s on to CO who are hungrier than a caged animal . Lossing 2 close ones they will be looking for some revenge on someone and we just happen to be the next team they face .

          • fb102

Amat Dad, agree with your take. Short fields put Amat on their heels early.

Lancers showed their moxie and came back to go ahead.

With 6:50 left in the game, Amat SHOULD have went into game clock management mode and took time off the clock with a 2 Td lead. Even with a 1 score lead, Amat could have run the ball, taken time off the clock and NOT been throwing the ball on 2nd and 3. Throwing the ball 1) stops the clock with incompletions 2) can be picked off. Score & time were RC’s enemy. Amat’s POOR play calling neutralized that advanatge.

I do understand Amat going for it on 4th down. RC’s offense had not been doing much since those early scores. However, giving RC a shorter field THAT many times was a recipe for disaster. Bit them in the butt.

RC is a good team and showed the Lancers they have some work to do to keep getting better.

      • Amat Dad

We did….it was unbearable to watch in the beginning.

  • socalfootball

Amat should have a real tough time when league hits. the party will be seriously be over.

  • socalfootball

    What about Ayala?

    • OuttaYourMindTrib

Well… do you want info about the first 3 Quarters + 5 Min. of the 4th Quarter, or do you want info about the last 5-6min of the game?

Bottom line is Dirty Ranch’s :cough: D1 :cough #59 with like 130 offers got his lunch taken from him every single down by Ayala’s #57 Andrew Posner. Was #59 even there??? I mean the jersey was on the field but for all the drool the Tribsters leave on the floor about this kid, I was expecting him to slap Ayala’s line silly all night long. Going to mark this one down as “Not as Good as Advertised”. Big kid, didn’t feel the need to show up against lowly Ayala I guess.

Ayala’s Defense, as many missed tackes and not wrapping up as they had (groan), kept them in the game the whole night and allowed the Offense which struggled for the vast majority of the game to take Dirty Ranch out to the woodshed for 19 unanswered points in the 4th Quarter.

Bottom line is Ayala’s recievers figured out how to catch passes when it mattered and came away with a win from an opponent that CLEARLY did not show Ayala even a shred of resepct, not that they have earned a whole lot, but they’ve earned some. Meyette came up with some right on the money passes when it mattered – when the game was on the line and when all the newspaper geeks were in their cars already with 5 minutes to go and chasing 16. I’ll take him over most QB’s in the area. The kid has a lot of heart. When his receivers let him down pass after pass, he just keeps coming back putting the balls right on the money.

I did not expect a win either. I expected Ayala to keep it close and they did, they just happened to come away with a win… at every level.

Good job boys if any of you are reading this.

      • Stephen Carter

        Dude their kids, chill out!

        • OuttaYourMindTrib

      • Inland_FB_Fan

        Ayala ………… YAAAAAAWWWWWNNNNN.
When they get into league, it will be different year, same story….battling for their lives to not finish 5th or 6th.

        • OuttaYourMindTrib

They are in the wrong league for Football. Pretty simple really. Until they stop holding girl’s badminton against the Football program, start of the season to playoff success on the football field is going to be hard to come by. Going into the Baseline league next year is a joke. CIF should be ashamed of themselves.

          • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

But if they are as GOOD as you folks advertise about every season! Why use the argument they are in wrong league? You are as big if not bigger than some of the schools in that league!!

  • socalfootball

Monrovia should be unstoppable. Scoby is a man among boys. He is quite ripped.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Best Running back in the SGV hands down…Easy 250 tonight… He will be on Fox prep Zone next week vs San Dimas…Poor Saints.

    • Steve Ramirez

Not a homer, but proud when my alma mater does well. But like I said, I check my alum card at the gate, when I cover them, kind of like when Troy Aikman does a Cowboys’ game, or Phil Simms does a Giants’ game.

La Mirada continues their losing streak dating back to last years playoff loss to Santa Fe.

  • Valley Athletics

Long beach poly 35-28 over centenial .

    • Not So Fast My Friend

Yes. Poly is veeeeery athletic. Went man against us all night. Made the drive to MV and saw that up close. No excuses, the better team won. We’ll go back to the lab, get cleaned up and sock our next opponent in the mouth.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

Tonight was a truly Friday the 13th…just when you thought things couldn’t get crazier they do…if I was to rank the top ten…it would be…
    1 La Habra
    2 Bishop Amat
    3. Chino Hills
    4. Monrovia
    5.St Francis
    6. La Serna
    7. Glendora
    8. Northview
    9.Bonita
    10.Ayala/Pomona

    Walnut over Claremont.!!!
    Temple City over Alhambra
    Azusa over Maranatha!!!

      • GP AKA Green Machine

        what’s wrong with them?
CO lost to 142 ranked Los Al and will won’t win next week.
Dranch was held 16 by Ayala
Northview shut out Rowland which won’t happen in Hacienda play.
        La Mirada has not won….
La Habra held St Paul to 7 my guess is BA won’t.
Los Altos should be in there…I forgot them..

        • Stephen Carter

DR/Ayala…DR was ahead 16-0 going into 4th quarter. The rest is history.

I think all the press nerds left early. Nobody interviewed anyone.

      I can appreciate those rankings~

    • AZTEC PRIDE

Alright Green Machine! Good win last night! AZUSA vs Arcadia next week… I can’t remember the last time AZUSA played Arcadia. I know they’re a decent team who can’t get by MONROVIA, but I know it’s going to real tough for AZUSA getting by them! Good Luck to Monrovia all season long!

    • Amat Dad

Seriously, get real. No way Amat drops.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Why Not…after struggling with Chino Hills and losing to Rancho, do you think amat is clearly better than La habra? LH and RC are very comparable in LA times rankings and state rankings…

        • Husky FB

Yes, I think Amat is that much better than LH. We saw it first hand. LH plays nobody, that’s why they look good on paper.

          • Jefe

I wouldn’t say LH plays nobody. LH has scheduled very tough opponents the past few years. That schedule was toned down a bit this season after they dropped the mini Trinity League gauntlet they had played the past couple of years. I don’t know if I’d take Amat over LH if they were to play this weekend. I think it would be too close to call.

          • Husky FB

I’ll rephrase it. When LH plays the good SoCal teams, such as a trinity team, or MV, they get spanked. And when they play in their cupcake league they look great. They’re just like Monrovia. At least LH plays tough teams, even though they get their butts handed to them, unlike Monrovia who is too scared to play anyone decent.

          • Don

            Plays nobody, huh?

I guess you’re calling El Toro and La Mirada, both 9-2 last season nobody’s. And St. Paul, who has fallen on some hard times lately, has been an area power over the last 50 years and next week they get Mission Viejo, 3-0 and 11-1 last year losing only to D1 Champ Poly. Yeah nobody . . . OK, OK, Gahr is a nobody.

          • Husky FB

ET is weak, and LM is a joke also.

          • Don

Once again, you ignore the fact these games were scheduled against teams coming off 9-2 seasons. LH doesn’t need to schedule rotten teams in non-league play.

          • Husky FB

St. Paul an area power? Wow, thanks for the laugh.

          • Don

I wrote “has been an area power over the last 50 years” and “has fallen on some hard times lately” hunky.

You guys from east diamond bar seem to have little in the way of historical perspective . . . not hard to understand all things considered.

        • AMAT 73

          GP,
Our struggles are mainly brought on by ourselves to ourselves . Left the RC game on the field literally and really wasn’t a struggle against CH . As far as the rankings who knows and now we got CO in front of us and some shorring up to do . But I would say we are a bwetter team then LH but since we do not play it’s a moot point .

      • Not So Fast My Friend

a loss is a loss. Considering how the Thursday and Friday games unfolded, BA should take a very small hit in the rankings. They can’t remain solid at the one when they barely (yes barely) beat CH and took one on the chin the following Friday against RC. Not even an NCAA team could hold on after that. You can debate whose at the one, but it shouldn’t be BA.

Now I’m going to go back to eating away my sorrow at Centennial’s loss to LB Poly.

    • SGV_FOOTBALL

You have the top 3 turned around.

This is what it will look like on Sunday

      1-BA
      2-CH
      3-La Habra

From 3 down there is a huge gap. I would consider, Glendora, SHills and Monrovia.

WTF is going on with the Chargers!! Anyone catch that game?

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Will I would almost agree with you, but Scoby torched BA alone while at St paul. I don’t think CH or La Habra is shutting him down. Monrovia has to be in the conversation.

  • rene77

Horrible play calling felt like hagerty was playing madden 2013… Defense was solid.

    • 12th man

Are you sure it was the play-calling? Or did RC have a legitimate defense? I will need more info? to analyze the game because i wasn’t there..but i need more than just the play calling?

      • OuttaYourMindTrib

It’s not called the Inland EMPIRE for nothing. Come out here with your swagger valley girls and you’re going to get your purses snatched and your lunch eaten. It’s as simple as that.

        • 12th man

          Have you taken your meds?

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Why, simply because the I pointed out the fact that by and large (not in every case obviously – Ayala failed last week by leaving 4TD passes on the ground), and BA handling CH, the SGV is just not as good as the IE. When the SGV’s big boys come out here, be it against RC, Etiwanda, REV, Upland, CC, VM, etc… the SGV gets beat. Sometimes badly :cough: C-NO vs. Upland :cough: So, despite that history, many of you SGV honks, and SGV fans when you come out here, you give no respect to the IE. Your fans call us hicks, rednecks, dirt people, and other derogatory names not fit for a family show, so yeah, when your teams come out here and and drop a game you “should have won”, something is going to be said and it’s probably not going to be terribly pretty. Suck it up buttercup.

When you’re not directly connected to a program (I’m just an old guy that that lives down the street that needed a hobby). I sit in the stands and I don’t always sit in the same place. I get to talk to people, sometimes it’s the usual conversation like what do you do, who’s your kid, etc… But on rare occasions I get to sit next to a key player’s parent. That’s when you get to here the really interesting stuff. The stuff you don’t (and probably should not) read about, the REAL stories about what’s going on between the stripes, the plays that didn’t develop because somebody didn’t maintain a block, somebody didn’t run a route, somebody didn’t execute their blitz, etc… That’s why I come out, and that’s why I’m REALLY going to miss Ayala when I move in December. Leaving the state my family has called home for 7 generations. So just think, only 7 more games and you won’t have to read my rants anymore. Though I may come back just talk some smack when Ayala ambushes somebody of note. Like last night, I’m SURE when Roddy scheduled the Bulldogs, in his mind he had this game down as a win – and who can blame him. But for his whole program to loose, (Frosh, JV and Varsity) to go 0-fer against the basement dwellers of the Sierra League, The Bulldogs. I just have to laugh. They may not be good, but they are dangerous. They’ve got enough more than enough skill to be dangerous. Honestly though, I didn’t know Ayala’s receivers would come up big when it mattered. They’ve not been kind to Meyette all summer long. And unless a college coach actually looks at whole games film, that kid will never even get so much as a glance let alone a look. They’ll see that completion percentage and pass on him. So, hopefully he and a few of his brothers in arms will walk on somewhere and shine. Odds are slim and none but you just never know stranger things have happened – “can’t miss League MVP” Travis Santiago, completely out of the game after less than a season. We’ll see… we’ll see.

          • 12th man

(yawning) ZZZZZZ! Let’s not get it twisted~ There’s only two legit teams from the Inland division every year (CC,VM) unless you represent either of these teams..Go tell your story to someone who actually cares!! (Yawning again) ZZZZZZ~

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

And they OWN SoCal football, and they are in the IE.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

No no no….Monrovia is better than Ayala…..

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Our dropped passes and the Refs gave you that game. Any one of those 2 not in the mix, Ayala wins handily. Suggest you watch film if you think otherwise.

          • observantcat

Whisper that one to a struggling Poly team from LB

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

The refs or the dropped passes? I don’t get over to LA much anymore so I can’t go see them. I used to catch a game or two every season, along with Jordan, and a few others. I don’t drive at night too much anymore; if I do, I stay REAL close to home now. Matter of fact, the Monrovia game just may be my last away game I see of Ayala unfortunately.

          • MonkeyWrench

Trib you lost fool shut up.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

No no no …Monrovia fumble on the one inch line at the half. Monrovia dropped passed too…Monrovia had many runs called back too. Monrovia close the game out with a defensive stop/interception…Monrovia is better than Ayala…. We are rooting for you to have a great year. It helps in the long run.

          • Go Deep

            GM,
I don’t blame refs and I don’t deny Monrovia was the better team that night. I think the “Monrovia is better than Ayala” statement is going too far. OYMT’s point is to say that if Ayala executed properly that game would have been more in favor of Ayala. Ayala got 6 points on 5 drives inside the 10 and had a Punt return called back. Monrovia had a long TD called back. and one fumble at the one. Give yourself a TD for the fumble you have 27 give us 5 executed red zone we have 35. the called back td’s balance out. Who wins?

          • GP AKA Green Machine

No no no, Monrovia blew scoring drives early in the game. Scoring at Half changes the complexity of the game. Execution is part of the game. You can’t say, “If” a team executes, they win the game. Of course if a team executes they are going to win the game! Monrovia’s lack of execution going into the 2nd half and the entire 2nd half, is what keep this one close. If you blow as many scoring chances as you say Ayala did, how can you say they are a better team? If Monrovia has less chances to score and still score more pts…what do you say to that? it’s week 3…I am pulling for you to beat Glendora…that helps us too.

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Not in every case if a team executes will they win the game. Sometimes you just get beat. You play great, they plat great and there’s a winner. That’s as it should be. But when your team literally drops passes in the end zone, that’s what gets you marks in the loss column, and ultimately that’s what cost the game for Ayala bottom line. Ayala’s fairly porous at times Defense held Scoby to a reasonable number of yardage. He did not “go off” on us like I thought he would or might be able to. Same with Diamond Ranch, I thought #1 (I believe that’s his number) would punish our defense, but again, a top notch RB was held to a reasonable number and ultimately kept out of the end-zone most of the night. The defense kept the Offense in the game and gave them an opportunity win it. The receivers failed to capitalize on near perfect passes.

It’s a win for you guys sure, but to say you beat Ayala, that would be a stretch. I think Ayala beat themselves that night and if they had it to play it over again, I’m not so sure the outcome would be in Monrovia’s favor next time.

          • AMAT 73

            OYMT,
Wow what one win does to people . Funny how you put that line ” drop a game you should have won ” in there. Your right we should have won but too many turnovers and some questionable play calling was too much to overcome . RC won and now it’s on the CO , another Inland team you must stand by .

        • AramT

12th Man, even on PAPER[like your BIBLE maxpreps] a BLIND person could ‘see’ Amat GAVE away 17 early points.

You were NOT even at the game and you write as if you could tell what happened.

        Your POINTS are INVALID[as usual]……

        • 12th man

Take off the blinders bro..either a team earns the points or the defense isn’t good enough to prevent points!! choose one? Nobody in any sports gives away points literally!! You have to be legit to score off of turnovers!! quit wasting my time if you don’t understand the game son~ No responses needed! You’re a done deal!

          • fb102

            12th man = not since1995?

          • 12th man

Wait! let me be fb 102…Ok! here i come with an intelligent response..12th man is not since 1995! Really? that’s all you got? You truly don’t understand the game! Stay off my post’s son unless you want me dance circles around your football knowledge..lol

          • fb102

Dance away……YOUR football ‘Nowledge’ is a JOKE.

The thing that is the MOST laughable about your posts on THIS game….You did NOT even see it.

BTW your Super Bowl analogy is WEAK too. You may not have seen it it person but millions saw it on TV.

Your takes are WEAK, EVERY week.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

On one hand one team has to do something right to win the game, and one team has to something wrong to lose it. I agree, no one is out there trying to lose or give away anything.

  • OuttaYourMindTrib

Wow, 5 seconds to Ayala taking down Dirty Ranch. That’s mighty generous guys.

    Thanks for the blurb.

  • Inland_FB_Fan

You Amat fans crack me up…LOL
When you win, you thump your chests and say”WE ARE AMAT!” and Amat nation this, Amat nation that. Now when you guys lose, you sound like whiney little b*tch*s. Blamr it all on the coaces. It was your sons who made 3 turnovers to spot RC 17 points. Once again, you have to come to the terms that your mighty Lancers are just an average Pac5 team that beats up on SGV teams and thumps your chest about being #1 in the fishbowl (SGV). Keep crying babies…LOL

I have to laugh if only a little bit when folks like you come out into the light (like cockroaches do) when a god team loses to a team that played much better. The fact is that yes, you are very correct in saying that a great deal of these “PARENTS” act like fools, and when the team falls on its faces, then maybe they do deserve to get a little bit of smack talk right back at them. But just because a team loses a game here and there, it doesn’t make them any worse than the team they lost to. The fact is that Amat gave up that game last night, and if that game were to be replayed, then maybe, just maybe, the outcome would be a little bit different, and yes, just the same way as that Santa Margarita game could have been a different outcome if the game were played again….
Anyway, all those Amat homers are eating “humble pie” right about now and guess what ? Its a good thing to taste it now that to have a serving come league, cause right now, Alemany looks unbeatable….

      • AZTEC PRIDE

JCAZ! I take my hat off to you for replying back to that IDIOT, INLAND FOOL! Nobody responded but you! Your right SGV FANS cry when we lose, WHY? Because it SUCKS to lose! LOL…

    • Don

Whatta crock . . . last time I looked the only SGV team on the Bishop Amat schedule this year is Charter Oak who was 10-2 in the, yep, that’s right, Inland Division last year. That is unless you, like some around here, consider Chino part of the San Gabriel Valley. And if the Lancers are only an “average Pac5 team” what does it say about the mighty Baseline League that Rancho Cucamonga, ranked THIRD in the Inland last week in the polls, could only eke out a 3 point win? Face it, you guys in the land of the mud people have TWO teams, Centennial and Vista Murrietta, and like every other Division in the Section, your talent drops off greatly after them. Sorry for the bad news.

    Coach Hagerty and Staff,
I’m a big fan of AMAT and you and your staff, but let’s just call a spade a spade.
We need to get back to AMAT Football.
    1. We need to hold onto the ball. We’ve had 7 or 8 fumbles in 3 games. We need to work on holding the ball with 2 hands in traffic and if you fumble the ball, you come out of the game (no exceptions). Period. AMAT Football has always been about Discipline and Execution.
    2. We need to stop gambling so much in our play calling. I can see taking a few chances here and there, but we are doing it WAY TOO MUCH. Last night was a perfect example, the double backward pass resulting in a penalty, the hand-off to #77 lost 5 or 6 yards, going for it twice on 4th and long gave RC great field position, passing on 2 and 5 deep in our own territory late in the game with a 2 score lead ended in an interception, and there were others too. When we gamble too much, the TEAM loses.
    3. We need to adjust our game plan to the game we are playing in. The run was working great against RC, but we insist on passing. Why? We were averaging 5+ yards a carry but we insist on passing at least 60%+ of the time. Why? Let’s go with what is working that night, not with some pre-scripted game plan.
    4. On Defense, we’re giving up the long ball way too much. Probably 5 or 6 times in 3 games. How about if you get beat deep, you come out of the game? That will change the focus real quick to keeping your man in front of you rather than gambling for a pick, etc.
    5. We finally made some nice adjustments on Defense bringing some pressure and it worked. Great job! Now let’s keep it up. So what if they get a few big gains. We are winning the percentages when we bring pressure. It’s working for every team we play. SM, CH, and RC have blitzed over 15 times a game against us. Let’s keep up the pressure from our defense as well. The outcomes are far more favorable this way for AMAT.
You guys are a great staff, but quite honestly, last night’s coaching was an embarrassment to the program. Yes, the boys fumbled 3 times, but they battled back to go up by 2 touchdowns and then our coaching decisions hurt us.
    Coach Hagerty, TAKE CHARGE!
Set some parameters for your coaches. Say “THIS WILL BE THE CHARACTER OF OUR TEAM….XYZ”. This can’t be the wild wild west, where some coaches make up stuff on the spot. They should know, in games that we are up with XX minutes or less left, we WILL run the ball. On Defense, we WILL blitz at least XX times a game. If someone fumbles or gets beat deep, they WILL come out for XX amount of time.
You and your staff are TOO GOOD and this team is TOO GOOD to allow this stuff to continue.
You guys have done a great job and come a long way in bringing success back to AMAT, but its time to take the next step.
Honestly, I think you guys owe the TEAM an apology for this performance and I think after that we REGROUP and MOVE ON.
Best of Luck the Rest of the Way, but we need some leadership and change in certain areas to be the best we CAN be.

Ya, it was frustrating watching our backs run for 5-7 yards and then pass the next 5 or 6 plays and punt. That pass over the middle late reminded me of the Alemany game last year where we did the same thing late in a close game and got picked off. I’m really surprised we didn’t learn from that. Koa is not a tall QB and throwing over the middle is not one of his strengths. But, there is always next week!

    • no-step

I have watched that team play only twice. Both times I remember them playing kind of dirty. I wondered if they had a “holding” coach b/c they did it so well. Now I read this crybaby saying they need to get back to the old days. LOL

  • AZTEC PRIDE

Big Aram you picked AZUSA to win!!! You, SIR ARAM… HAVE A good betting WEEKEND!$$$ LOL…

  • Sgvparent

how did that san dimas db game go? did peterson even get to play?

    • El Cucuy

He did play and DB won 40 to 28.

  • Arthur Fonzarello

    From the L.A. Times:

“A year ago, Rancho Cucamonga went 10-3 and got lots of attention…But this year’s team could be better.”

RC beat Norco, a then top 25 team in California, last week. Prior to the Amat game, RC was ranked in the top 25 in the state by Maxpreps and in the top 25 locally by the L.A. Times.

A win would have been great, however, there is no shame in coming up just short to a quality opponent. Amat will be just fine.
