  • Not So Fast My Friend

Watched some film of Charter Oak as well. They’re not that bad. I’ll look for them to get off the snide and get their first win over Glendora.

La Mirada’s nonleague games have been brutal. I’ll expect to see them back on the board come league play.

Big test for South Hills against Monrovia and the Scoby train. Personally, I don’t think they stop the train. My pick is Monrovia.

    • SGV FB Dad

CO actually has a solid team. Their D-Line is big and brutal, but they are shaky overall as a total team. They held their own in the first half against Amat, and they put a ton of pressure on KOA. But in the second half they had no answer for Amat. I think against weaker teams they will look good. I see Chino Hills outscoring them and taking the Sierra, but I feel CO could compete for the 2 spot over SH. We’ll see.

      • Not So Fast My Friend

It will be interesting to see how they do against Glendora.

        • Bishop All Stars

CO should be proud of themselves. Besides the 0-6 record on all levels over the last two years, they can go back and let everyone know what a great first half they had against the big mighty pac-5 team, but unfortunately the game is comprised of two halves. They were out conditioned and the lancers wore them down. CEeee Ohhhh. LOL…

          • 1st and goal

            Lmao

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

            That was good

  • SGV_FOOTBALL

There should be no room on your list for a team that is 0-3.

    • Not So Fast My Friend

      Lol.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

    1.BA was a given # 1 hands down.

2.Chino Hills is a given # 2 hands down and top four inland team.
3.St Francis-Blow out over LM deserves recognition and was enough to jump to this spot.

4.La Habra- Lost to MV is a quality loss. 21 pts is more than most would score…
5.My Cats- Well even a blow out win over SD would not be more impressive than any of the other top 4 teams performances. However, I think Aram and Fred are sleeping on win with Frosh QB…That changes everything…If Miles was jr or Sr, you would expect more, but a 14 year old…that’s impressive. I don’t think many teams could pull that off. Maybe that is what keep us in the top 5. However, that shows the Defense is on point. They were on the field a lot that game and still only allowed a questionable TD caused by a Helmet to Helmet bs call. SD only move the ball when they got a little help from the refs… However, SHills is all that matters. Mtown needs this game..

I think La Serna is the legit # 6. This ranking looks really good.

  • Spartan Pops

Predicting an upset this week, Damien over St. Francis. This team is getting better each week, under the coaching of Paredes. This team just doesn’t quit, then maybe you will at least rank them higher than a 0-3 Charter Oak team. C’mon really!!!

    • Inland_FB_Fan

Hold on Spartan pops…lol. You guys lost by 4 TD’s against O -lu and beat #541 in CA 1-3 Palm Desert and #434 0-4 St.Paul….LOL. Wow, stiff competition. Damien should be getting “better” or playing crappier teams. Beating D4 St. Francis will be better, but they haven’t played a winning team either, beating 0-4 Chino, 2-2 Righetti and 0-4 LaMirada.

      • Football Dad

Most the teams in the rankings other than Amat and the Sierra League team will not even play a team half as good as Orange Lutheran. Damien is good. Orange Lutheran ran an option, that is hard to defend in your first game with a young team.

        • Inland_FB_Fan

I think there are a number of teams that could lose to O Lu by 4 TDs….you act like the game was close. What about the other 2 cupcake opponents? You compare CO’s schedule with Damien’s and come back and talk. How many of CO’s opponents do you think you Damien would be even close to beating? NONE! CO didn’t play a team with a losing record. The “worst” team they played is ranked #114 in the state, not #541 like Damien’s opponents. CO & Chino Hills will DESTROY Damien….book it.

          • Football Dad

The great thing about our debate is the boys get a chance to prove it on the field. Damien plays CO and Chino Hills. The ranking does not matter when you are losing. Tell me about a ranked team CO beat, oh CO has not beat anyone. To be honest I am cheering for all the Sierra league team (CO included), until they play Damien or Monrovia. I think the Sierra league will end Damien, Chino Hills, South Hills, CO, Ayala, and Claremont.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

You honestly think Damien will win the Sierra league? LOL . I have to give you props for being loyal to your school, however, I see Damien battling Ayala and So. Hills for 3rd place. No way does Damien beat Chino Hills and I don’t think they have the athletes to hang with Charter Oak.

  • chivo

Aram, I was told over the weekend by an Amat dad that one of the super sohpmores may have transfered out because of an issue with Hagearty. His dad and Hagearty had to be seperated before Friday nights game. What`s going with Hagearty is his arrogance finally getting to people?

    • Valley Athletics

Tyler Vaughn according to rene77 and amat allstars on Fred’s blog.

      • AMAT 73

Vaughn played Friday night . And played well . So I don’t think someone’s dad would have a beef if his kid is seeing action on the field . It’s still preseason with a game coming up that many players will see action .

        • Valley Athletics

They where discussing it on Fred’s blog over the weekend about the rumor Tyler was going to transfer and other sophs are not happy .

          • GP AKA Green Machine

            Are any of them starting?

          • Lancerito

            GP,
One starts (Tre Sidney). He starts at DB and plays some receiver. He also returns kicks. Fantastic player and deserves all the playing time and recognition he gets.

Another one, (Tyler Vaughns) gets a decent amount of playing time. He is a Phenomenal Athlete and his playing time will probably increase as the season progresses.

There are 3 or 4 other ones who get some playing time, but not a lot. They are all good athletes and players, but there are just some stud upperclassmen in front of them. They will probaly get some more reps against St. Paul this week if we get up big on them.

They just have to keep working hard and take advantage of practice and game opportunities to show what they have. It’s a long season and opportunites come through grades, injuries, and mistakes by starters, etc.

No one every plays enough. Heck the starters probably want to play a 5th quarter every Friday night to get some more reps! LOL

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Haha !!! True, I remember back in the day Sophomores barely made Varsity and you didn’t suit up until playoffs. I am talking about guys who went on to play D1, not scrubs. It’s not always a physical thing…it’s a mental and confidence thing. Tre May be the only soph mentally ready to handle being out there every down. If you keep putting your youngins out there, and they are good in some moments and bad in others, you could mess with a kids confidence if you put them out there, and they continually get abused or blow the big game. The lights shine bright on Friday. Especially at High profile schools like Amat and others. If your gettting time as a tenth grader at Amat, you will be on the scouts radar. You may not get all the glamor, but you will be noticed. Parents want their kids to be the star more than the kid wants to. I am sure the 10 grader is not crying at Amat if he is getting time as a back up and on special teams. There are some seniors who have never touched the field. Geesh…

          • AramT

Tre Sidney starts … however last week one of them (Austin) scored a TD on special teams. Tre returned a pick for a TD and came up just 2 yards short of doing it twice.

Vaughns got time at WR. I think he had two TDs vs. Santa Margarita.

They are being worked in and out. On some plays, they look clueless, but you expect that because they’re just sophs playing at a high level. But no doubt they’ll be more than fine.

Amat’s team next year is going to be loaded.

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

            “Sophs are not happy”.

That’s rich. This is a product of everybody gets a trophy. They should feel privileged to even suit up on Friday no matter how good they are.

Look mommy and daddy, little Jonny needs to earn his spot period. Just being a little better than a starter isn’t enough so get the eff over it. If a Soph is going to start over a Junior or Senior he’s going to have to be a TON better. If he’s not a ton better, STFU and let him earn his spot.

This whole Sops are not happy BS is just out of effing control.

          • AMAT 73

            OYMT,
I really wouldn’t put much into all these posts . Vaughns is getting plenty of playing time and I don’t think it was his Dad complaining . You’re right , a spot is earned not given to the one whos parent barks the loudest .

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Problems in the locker room start at home. Mommy and daddy barking about how much playing time little Jonny ISN’T getting, then little Jonny starts to get the not good chip on his shoulder and there it goes.

I’ve seen it over and over and it’s a real shame. Chances are 90% of these kids we’re talking about will never step foot on the gridiron as a player once HS is over. Statistical FACT. Parents need to shut up and let the kid enjoy HIS experience. And if little Jonny isn’t happy with the amount of playing time he’s getting, well, maybe he should have been in the gym more during the off-season, working with a strength and conditioning coach, working with a position coach or just getting together with the guys a few times a week for a few hours to get those extra reps in.

This isn’t JAA there’s no mandatory play rule no matter how much money you paid to the booster club.

          • 1st and goal

I don’t know about that one. I’ve seen a few parents bark pretty bad in the years I’ve been here. Many are alumni too. Pretty sad when you think about it.
            I’m just saying…

          • RIP

youre lumping them all together. just because one has left school and one might not be happy dosent mean they are complaining. from where i sit they seem to be happy to be on the team. I think it is the parents that are all pissed off and starting all this crap. you guys should just sit back and enjoy the ride. Your playing days are over! the cream will always rise to the top!

    • Lancerito

Not a true statement. Tylers Dad or any other Dad did not even speak with Hagerty before the game. Tyler did not transfer either. He was at practice yesterday.

This is just #93′s Dad trying to stir things up to get attention for his son. Sorry Mr. Vasquez, you’re son will have to wait his turn. If you want him to start on Varsity somewhere, you may need to consider transferring yourself.

      • Here we go…

That kid 93 is a stud! He will be on the feild at some point. Hopefully sooner than later.

        • Lancerito

#93′s Daddy….you’re going to ruin football for his son.

Too bad you just can’t let your son play and earn his spot. You think talking a bunch of nonsense and trying to stir the pot is going to get him playing time.

You clearly don’t know Hagerty or Amat Football.
Got news for you. Many kids have transferred out of Amat over the years and Amat just keeps rolling. The next kid just steps up and we keep rolling.
I won’t be surprised to see your son transferring out soon if you keep this up. The coaches will not tolerate kids or parents who create problems within the team.

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

Come on pal. This is to be a friendly enviroment. Cant we all just get along, go get our EYE BROWS waxed and be good seniors??? Come on pal oh buddy???

          • Lancerito

            Mr. Vasquez,
Let your son earn his spot. If you’re going to try to bash the kids and coaches, I’ll be here to call you out.
            Good luck to your son.

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

            Nice try , but NOT.

          • Lancerito

            OK Mr. Vasquez.

          • Bishop All Stars

OK Mr. FO NINE!! You don’t know didley……….. LOL….. You keep your little game up.

          • RIP

Wow, whats going on here? If you actually are watching the game you can clearly see 93 on the field! so can we please stop this nonsense and move on! if kids are good enough to play, LET THEM PLAY! if not, LET THEM SIT!

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

Yes I agree… Lets focus on the big game today at the PIT… LOL, thats even funny to say.

          • RIP

I believe 93 has been playing! check the stats! now lets stop this calling people out and play some football.

          • Lancerito

Mr. Vasquez (AKA RIP, Lanceritos Buddy, Here we go…, etc., etc.)

You are the one calling out numbers, coaches, and names. If you don’t want to be called out, then stop doing it yourself.

Let the kids play football, let the coaches coach football, and you sit in the stands and cheer them on. That’s how it works at AMAT.

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

You are calling out this Mr Vasquez, but you have no clue. The players are playing, obviously the coaches are coaching and you are sitting in the stands just as all the fans are… So stop trying to call folks out, yes YOU and we can get on with this. Go back to hideing behind your Lancerito tag, AKA MADDOG. And have fun with it. It is all in fun, what happens on the field is what is going to happen. Stop taking this so serious and remember everyone has the right for their opinion. It might not be what you like OH MIGHTY Lancerito, but it is what it is. Go on about your grand Blogging and enjoy yourself. But YOU should not call anyone out that is not even the person. Besides that #93 is going to get on the field at some point and make an impact. If you watch the game and can understand talent it is obvious. I am also sure the coaches dont buy into this blabber anyways as that is all it is. It has been FUN getting under your skin though… Enjoy the game tonight “Lil Buddy”!

          • Lancerito

Same to you Mr. Vasquez! Enjoy the game tonight!

          • RIP

please dont call me Mr. Vasquez! because i am not…. i just want to see some good football!!!!!

      • The stands

I’ll never understand why some parents stir the pot with unsubstantiated assertions. What possible good comes from that? Hags has a reputation for putting the best product he has on the field. The best talent rises to the top, inevitably. A little patience goes a long way. I’m sure this kid Vasquez will get his turn soon enough if he continues to work hard. Again, a little patience goes a long way.

    • AramT

Tyler Vaughns is still at Amat. Although some of the Super Sophs may not be happy with their playing time this year, by next year they should all be balling out. So just be patient.

      • SGV_Football_Fan

        Aram,
Kind of funny all this talk about Super Sophs this year. There are some good sophomores that will contribute in the future at Amat, but I think only 1 starts. Last year if I recall correctly 3 Sophs started and played every game. That was probably the real year of the super sophs.

        • AramT

Interesting point. Man, what a team Amat will have next year. Scary.

          • 1st and goal

One area that the team may be lacking in is at QB. I havent seen the JV QB play to know how he is but as of right now, its a work in progress. Lets see how the Var QB back up does for the rest of the season. Im sure that he will get some reps in this Friday.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

That’s Amat’s Issue, when they have the super skills, the lack at QB. They have the QB, but waiting on the super skills to grow up. For Amat to make a dent in the pac 5, they are going to need both the QB’s and skills playing at a high level in step. Next year an average QB means another questionable year, and they may lose games against valley teams next year without one.

          • Valley Athletics

The sophmore backup Qb is very good . It’s going to be a rough start with Santa margarita next year . The JV Qb is Rio Ruizes brother . Another Jv Qb transfered to Monrovia as you probably already know .

          • observantcat

Asaph Zomora, good athlete well mannered kid and he looks really good, comes from a great family as well. Well see a lot of him during league play.

          • Royal Blue Thunder

The 2012 Amat Freshman team’s QB was Damien Garcia (Was #7, now #16). Take a look at the highlights on HUDL…he appears very agile and accurate. He definitely looks very skilled (and at 14 years old) Of course, this is a highlight film.

  • Had To Laugh

Finally a voice of reason. Glendora is right where they should be at #7.
With two wins in overtime don’t expect Glendora to be so lucky against a hungry CO coached by one of the finest coaches in the valley and playing at home I believe.

  • chivo

Lancerito, it is a true statement, this Amat dad I mention son plays O-line and he witnessed all of it . The other coaches were telling the kids to get back inside so they didn`t have to see it, but it was to late. I was told Tyle Vaugn was very upset with something or someone because he was only half dressed in the locker room and Hagearty told him very firmly to get dressed and Vaugn refused. That is when I believe Hagearty and Vaugn`s father had their heated discussion outside, where other coaches had to seperate them. Now as far as the Vasquez kid, I can`t to that or the father. Also, the reason I stated that Vaugn “MAY” have transfered out is because he never showed up on Saturday for film study or weight lifiting. So if he is back than that`s great for the kid and the rest of the football team. So just a miss understanding that got out of hand I guess.

    • RIP

Finally, a voice of reason. Now the crybabies should stop calling out the kids by name and number and lets just get back to football! Go Lancers!

      • Lancerito

  • Gamer

First, I assume a lot of posters here agree that Lancerito and Mr Vasquez might not like each other very much! In fact, they might not even know each other as they pass one another. But, I have to say this is getting old! Neither person should name a child or childs parent to spread information or rumor on a blog if they have no leg to stand on when providing information about that child. The child may read this blog and be effected by it negatively. That’s not why this blog was created, I think!
Second, I am a fan and parent of Amat. I attend each game and praise and voice my opinions of the outcome as any other fan. Yet, I do believe I have the right to voice my fanatic opinions so long as there is an understanding that it ain’t pesonal or negative towards a child. So, it is ok, only my opinion, to judge a coach for his decisions call a play, play a player, not play a player or simply believe we are smarter than the coach. That’s why they call us fans! We want our teams and coaches to be perfect. I know nobody is perfect but heck I’m just a fan.

    • AMAT 73

      Gamer,
Tonight should quiet many parents as a boat load of players will see playing tonight . Now is the time for them to show their stuff and get themselves noticed which would equal more time on the field .

    • Lancerito

      Gamer,
      I’m with you.

We all can 2nd guess play calling, etc. but no one should be naming kids, spreading rumors about kids leaving, threatening coaches on the blog that players will leave it they don’t play, etc. etc.

I wish ALL of the AMAT Players well and when I mention kids its alway positive and I try to mention 2 or 3 or more players who did a great job. Check my posts and you’ll see I’ve never said anything negative about this guys kid or other players.

But, it’s very difficult to sit back and watch a disgruntled parent spread false rumors about players and the program. If he has a beef he should schedule a meeting with the coach and discuss it. If he doesn’t like the answer then he can choose to stick it out or transfer.

The blog is not the place for that nonsense from 1 unhappy parent.
