You think Diamond Bar wants to “Win one for Noodles” this week against West Covina?

noods
Noodles can only watch on Friday …

Have to think that Diamond Bar is going to be extra fired up this Friday to get a win for Antonio “Noodles” Hull when the Brahmas take on West Covina.

Hull is ineligible until what would be the second round of the Southeast Division playoffs after West Covina challenged his transfer to Diamond Bar on grounds that it was athletically motivated. CIF agreed and declared the 2012 Tribune Newcomer of the Year ineligible for what might be all of his junior season.

Noodles has been helping D-Bar in practice this week, though, by simulating what he knows about the West Covina offense and also blanketing receiver Cordell Broadus in order to simulate what Broadus will face when he locks up against West Covina standout defensive back Sidney Jones.

As for any pregame smack talk, Brahmas coach Ryan Maine is much to smart for that.

“On our end, it is a little motivating because we see how hard he practices with the scout team and know how bad he wants to get on the field,” Maine said. “I think the kids see how much it hurts him that he’s not on the field. It’s definitely something that’s motivating, but not necessarily against the West Covina (coaching) staff. It’s more just feeling the pain for Antonio.

“You can’t put it around one thing. You don’t want to get emotionally involved in that.”

Aram’s take: I’m very happy that Jake Payton and Kurt Scoby are playing. This is nothing against them at all. But you have to look in amazement at the fact they’re both playing while Noodles is not. It’s a glaring reason why this IDIOTIC CIF rule has to go away. I know it. You know it. CIF even knows it. Who doesn’t know it are the people who wish the world was like Disneyland and the year was still 1965. It’s time for those people to get with the times, because they’re holding the rest of us back. Anyway, you just know that this is one game Diamond Bar REALLY wants. And it’s one game that West Covina REALLY doesn’t want to lose. There’s even more on the line, too, since D-Bar is looking for a clear path to the Hacienda League title and West Covina is trying to avoid 0-2 in league. This should be a very intense on Friday night.

  • Valley Athletics

You think West Covina is going to be fired up for diamond bar taking there Qb and trying to get others to come . Great game it’s going to be .

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Wesco is about 2 DB’s short…Sidney on Broadus….love on bell…But Dbar has others… Peterson is difference. DBar has a QB and Westco Doesn’t. Wesco is going to have ot slow this one waaaaay down and make this grinding low scoring affair. Wesco can not come back from 2 scores down.

      • Dbaralum

Westco is one head coach short of being NON hypocritical.

        • MoreKetchup

I could see your tears through the screen. I am sure if any of West Covina’s transfers sent an email to us saying they were leaving for athletic reasons, Coach M would have reported it. Coach M is a great guy, and I really don’t see all the hate for him. Why aren’t you mad at Hull’s father?

      • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

        Bell is not playing

      • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Sad thing is…Bell didnt even play!

    • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

How do you take another human being that has a mind of their own? The good thing is. Noodles has another yr, Payton is on his last dance! and so much good his transfer did right?

      • WC

Noodles is an above average player. He is strong and has good cut back ability, but he lacks top end speed. The trib has pimped this kid too hard from the time he entered high school….. in my opinion. He is a good player , but does not warrant the amount of attention he has garnered over the last three years. If it was me, I would have let Hull transfer without a challenge……not knowing all the details. That being said, Diamond Bar will probably destroy West Co on Friday. The Bulldogs have talent on offense ,but no one to distribute the ball. It blows me away that no QB’s were developed behind noodles. There are athletes on that roster, it is beyond me how the kids playing QB at West Co ended up at that position. Tiny, slow, and a weak arm does not = good QB material. I guess they expected Noodles to be there for the next two years. I think West Co would have been deadly with noodles in the mix at QB on offense. It might not have mattered with the way this defense can not stop the run……..or the pass for that matter.

        • Bulldogs have bite

WC has always depended on a serviceable QB due to the ground oriented Wing-T offense we run. With that kind of reputation, QB’s coming up from JAA or Pop Warner or transfering look to play in a more QB friendly environment. We have gone to a pro-style offense this year but only have a senior (who has been playing wing-t the last three years) and two sophomores at QB. So it’s a work in progress. You’re right about the defense. They are young on the D-line and Linebacker position and nobody gets off their blocks and wants to make a tackle. Can’t win games when only 3-4 guys can make tackles.

          • WC

i agree with what are saying about the QB situation, but I think they could have adjusted with the athletes on the roster. Why not turn one of the Love’s into a QB early on? Somebody with a little size and athleticism.

          • Bulldogs have bite

It’s not that easy to get a kid to play QB when they or their parents don’t want them to play that position. The Love brothers both have legit chances at getting a D1 scholarship at RB or DB. I remember Maggiore wanted to put Jimmy Frazier at QB in 2011. The Frazier camp did not like the idea and proceeded to prove that they knew better when Jimmy rushed for 1700 yards and averaged 14 ypc!

          • WC

You are probably right, they just look so weak at that position this year.

          • Bulldogs have bite

Got to give any kid who plays QB some credit. It is not easy assuming the role that will take the most blame when things go bad. There are other bigger, faster, stronger kids on the team that could step up and assume that role but didn’t. I’m not about to call anybody who gladly steps forward into that kind of responsibility weak. Football is a team sport and there is plenty of blame to be shared. It’s not fair to just blame it on the Quarterback. If they keep showing up to practice even after a bad game or being benched or taking all the blame in school or on a blog, then maybe they are strong where it really counts. Heart.

          • WC

Oh…..I don’t think it’s the kids fault at all.

          • WC

Not blaming the kid, but just because a kid has heart, and tries hard, doesn’t mean you let him play QB.

          • WCDan

BHB, great post, this go’s deeper than just the QB situation, lots of problems on defense, I’ll tell you what, despite his struggles on the field, there is no lack of character, heart or effort with the QB, the kid has eaten, drank, slept, and worked hard in football since he was in elementry school. From what I have seen, his short to midrange passing game is pretty good, it’s the longer passes where we have struggled. Maybe more WR screens, hitches, stick routs, shallow crossing patterns, slant, & out type passes would help him get a better rythm, then again it may be more complicated then that.

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

But if Noodles was not going to be QB at WC, then apparently, WC would still be in the same position it finds itself in now i would think

  • SGV 4 30 Years

Aram, You left out the point about Noodles dad’s email basically saying that they were leaving because of football, and the fact that DB was so arogant that they played Noodles in their scrimmage against South Hils, and the fact that your blogs posted the video of him playing thus giving CIF evidence that DB showed a complete disreguard for the rules. You need to stop trying to place the blame on WC for filling out paperwork and place it where it really belongs, with the parents and with Maine and Davies (the AD) for playing an ineligible player. Lastly the Tribune must take some of the responsibility for placing so much attention on this kids transfer. Payton and Scoby are playing partly because their transfers weren’t under the same microscope and didn’t leave the same paper trail as Hulls. I feel bad for the kid, but it’s just another case of parents thinking they can do what they want with no consequences.
    SGV430 Ouuutttt!!!!!

    • Dbaralum

SGV430, once again you prove just how ignorant you are. Aram researched this matter back in August and posted that playing in the scrimmage was not a violation of CIF rules and CIF made ZERO issue of the scrimmage. In the future, please educate yourself of the rule book and any particular situation prior to opening your pie hole and looking like a complete idiot. 2nd issue, Payton did indeed leave a paper trail prior to his transfer to Bonita, however, San Dimas chose not to challenge probably because of all the bad publicity over the challenge to the Upland transfer. Scoby’s transfer could have been challenged on a couple of different issues, however, St Paul chose not to challenge. The truth is that anybody can transfer while violating rules left and right, but unless the school from where that play has transferred from checks that challenge box then nothing is done about the transfer at the CIF level. Lastly, where were you when the Tribune was posting articles just about every week regarding Payton and Scoby’s transfers? Now why don’t you go back up onto that ghetto hill and kiss Roddy’s behind a little more?

    • AramT

Wow, you’re just wrong all over. The Scoby and Payton situations GOT PLENTY OF INK. Just as much as Noodles, easily. You are lost if you don’t think their transfers were under the same microscope.

Also, nobody is denying that West Covina had the goods on Noodles because of the email. But what’s it matter? Are we going to pretend that 99 pct of transfers aren’t “athletically motivated”? Do you really need it spelled out to prove that they are?

Payton transfer wasn’t athletically motivated? Pucci transfer? Scoby transfer? Mayorga transfer? I could go on. Smoking gun or not, it doesn’t matter.

San Gabriel had THREE BIG-NAME PLAYERS transfer out after Jude left. One starts at Keppel. One starts at San Dimas. One is a fringe starter at West Covina. You gonna tell me they weren’t athletically motivated? Or do you need an email from their dads to believe it?

West Covina has gotten plenty of transfers. They didn’t all come in because they like sign language program or auto shop.

It’s hypocritical that all the other kids are playing and Noodles is not. If you can’t see that or understand, then yeah, I don’t know what to tell you.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

I had a different opinion regarding this, until even I realized that everyone got cleared or got the 30 day sit out rule….except for Hull…He is the only one. I guess even those who had a paper trail were eventually cleared. I must say Wesco may have went by the book, but it may be the wrong book.

      • Bulldogs have bite

An email can be forwarded and seen by any number of people. It’s not like a letter written on paper that can be shredded up and tossed. The sender still has possession of the email even after it has been sent. Not only is the email physical proof that the Hull’s violated a current standing rule, if West Covina signs off on his transfer it then becomes physical proof that WC has violated the rules. Who’s to say in 2015 after Hull graduates that this email does not mysteriously pop up again and end up in the inbox of CIF offices? Sometimes in life you just have to protect your own and wish others don’t do stupid things that force your hand. Richy Collins was a WC player now playing at DB and he is free as a bird. Hypocracy has nothing to do with this situation. More like a poor judgement from a parent.

        • Ashamed Bulldog

When are you koolaid drinkers over at WC going to stop putting out the same, false, drivel? The school from where the kid transferred out is not required to check that box. You guys must be the king’s of the propaganda and ministers of the “big lie” Proof and point, last year Eric Buntte of SMC transferred mid season to MV, the entire situation was covered, in detail, by the OC Register, LA Times and Fox Sports West. Eric Buntte posted on his Facebook Acct. and Twitter that he was leaving because he and the Football Coaches were at odds ends with each other. CIF and everyone else in the world was very aware of the situation, people were even posting all over the net that he was in “text book” violation of the CIF Transfer rules. But because Harry Welch had some integrity and chose not to check the box, CIF rubber stamped the transfer in less then 1 day and Buntte was suited up for the very next game at MV. Why wasn’t Harry Welch and SMC punished for not checking that box? Why? because IT’S NOT MANDATORY, that’s why. So please, stop with your bs propaganda, nobody believes it and everyone in the SGV now knows what a petty little man Maggiore truly is.

          • AramT

Please don’t call Coach Maggiore petty. He’s a very well respected coach who has won three CIF rings.

I think he made a bad decision here, but that’s where it ends. I still respect him. I respect he and his program’s choice, I just don’t agree with it.

I think that coaches like Maggiore are left in a bad spot because of this rule and makes people do things they wouldn’t usually do or simply don’t want to do. There should NEVER be a rule that does that.

Nobody wins in this situation at all. The biggest person hurt is the kid and his family, who in this case are Noodles and his family. No kid should lose an ENTIRE season. I don’t know where CIF or the membership or whomever gets off thinking that’s just a punishment.

Two weeks tops. That’s what I say. I can barely live with 30 days. But an entire season when most kids only have two varsity seasons in them is ridiculous.

And don’t forget, you salt your own program when you do something like this. I said that back in August, I think, and WCDan and Bulldogs Have Bite went to pieces. You stain your own program when you do this and you can kiss your good juju goodbye. At 2-3 and having lost three straight, do you guys see what I mean yet? It’s bad karma that you simply don’t need. Let the players leave. Tell them you think they’re making a big mistake and leave it at that.

And in this case, we’re dealing with a next-level talent who is going to have his recruiting harmed by this. Is what CIF, Maggiore or the membership are about? I highly doubt it. And if they are, they need to go find another line of work, perhaps as CHP officers or something of that ilk.

          • The Chef

It is not Karma that Westco suffers from, it is more direct than that. When a program suffers from duplicity and hypocrisy and blatant self justification it suffers from integrity and leadership rot that permeates the buy-in of the players left and how everyone from the Janitor to the AD questions himself and his commitment to the program. Do you think that the quality of the player has changed in Westco or is it no one can look forward when everyone is watching his back.

          • Bulldogs have bite

You can say whatever you want on social media only to say your account was hacked or it is a fake account. And don’t get me started on Welch’s “integrity” lmao! Let me know when Maggiore starts letting his assistants sell marijuana to students and team members!

          • Don

            Dear ashamed,

You need to do a little more research.

            Start with Harry Welch/RSM/integrity.

You can move on from there to young Mr. Bunte’s history as an Eagle (It’s Erik Bunte).

You can consider finishing up by studying exactly who you think is a WesCo koolaid drinker. Don’t let your hate for Maggiore allow you to come across as ignorant.

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

OK,so WHO do you think would have been in position to forward the letter??? This should be an ez one for you!

          • Bulldogs have bite

Of course the recipient can forward the email. But the sender can also cc or bcc or screenshot it as well. You’re a big boy, you didn’t need me to tell you that.

    • Dbaralum

Here is the post directly from Aram back in August.

“UPDATE: It was not illegal for Noodles to play in the scrimmage. He is/was not banned from that as previously reported … but he still isn’t allowed to play in JV games.”

ANOTHER UPDATE: This continues to be one of the most pathetic situations I’ve ever seen. An embarrassment for EVERY ADULT INVOLVED.

      • SGV 4 30 Years

Dbaralum, You sound like someone who is very angry. Dbar still has a lot to prove. Now I’m not a big fan of CIF. I think they have way to much power. But I am a fan of doing things the right way. Our goal isn’t to raise pro football players, it is to develope young men of character. But it has to be a group effort between the parents, and the coaches. I think all these transfers are insane. If we just let people leave everytime they are unhappy, how are we going to teach loyality, respect, and dealing with adversity. You were correct about Mr Payton, they caught the ultimate break. I don’t like the fact that they tried to throw SD under the bus. But again, that’s parents, not the kid.
But you sir or ma’am have such an angry tone. And don’t think that DBar innocent. Why do you think they got voted out of the Hacienda League. Last thing Buddy, Don’t you for one second think I’m a Dranch or a Roddy fan. They were the second dirtiest team I saw last year. Do you want to know who the dirtest was?
        SGV430 Ouuuttt!!!!!

  • Bill

You know the fact is West Covina denied hulls transfer but they get in transfers all the time. Sidney jones transferred from DR.
If they had a transfer that wasn’t as good as noodles, they wouldn’t of protested the transfer.
    They seem vindictive and hypocritical.
Just wish all young kids well and move forward.

    • Dbaralum

Westco brought in a transfer running back just this year.

      • Bulldogs have bite

Please don’t pretend that you don’t know why Diamond Bar all of a sudden in the last few years has more athletes on campus than Muir….Coach Snoop, I mean Maine seems to have no problem taking them in by the boat load regardless of who recruited, I mean attracted them there. Diamond Bar brought in our QB and one of our Running Backs. Be happy with the 50% success rate in your recruiting of WC players.

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Why dont you name them since you seem to know it all??? and im talking about kids other than snoop, he lives in DB so his kids have a right to play there! Okay so other than noodles…??

          • Bulldogs have bite

Why don’t you name them? Am I missing something, or has the demographics in diamond bar changed that much in three years?

          • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

There are other nationalities that live in DB!! or did you not think that was thinkable?

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Okay, so because Noodles (who was part of Snoops team) and Cordell and his cousin play for DB, you think DB is loaded with athletes????

    • Valley Athletics

I heard Jones lived in walnut when he attended diamond ranch and his mom got married so they moved to West Covina . That’s what I’ve heard .

      • The Dude

But, you know, Maggiore obviously has impeccable character and would never play the transfer game in his favor!

  • RealTalk

Wesco is not ready for DB. I think they left their hearts on the field in the Chino Hills loss, they fought hard in that game even though they lost. They have some great running backs in Garcia, Best who they haven’t played as much as they should and Hernandez who is like a bullet. A star in Sidney Jones that they don’t get the ball to down field when he’s one-on-one with an obvious less talented db. Deshaun Love who they don’t throw to enough. They have talent but i think coach M doesn’t know what to do with them. They are a solid team they just haven’t step into there own. Hated to see them lose the way they did to DR. Here’s a word to the db’s of Wesco, stop trying to pick everything and knock some passes down. You don’t catch it, They don’t catch it!!! You’ll give a lot less easy catches to these non-talented receivers. Also linebackers, stop playing around these blockers and go through them. You’re a lot smarter and a lot more talented than you’re playing. Diamond Bar 40 West Covina 17… Sorry but if you don’t start playing football this will be the result. #LetsGoBulldogs

    • GP AKA Green Machine

DBar did struggle against a Run Heavy team in Norwalk. I am not saying that Westco is playing on Norwalks level, but If they are physical, the score could be much closer. West co Didn’t take care of the ball either last week. 3-4 fumbles for what they do is devastating, and they can not come back from down 2 scores. DBar is not as strong as DRanch on the defensive side of the ball. Dbar Held payton, but did give up nearly 250 yrds rushing to San Dimas. Wes Co is still more dangerous than SD. If West co tries to throw, they would be playing into DbArs hand. They need to get Jones and love on some out side running plays and counter off that. If they do throw…it would be play action plays, and nothing too deep. it’s not what you run sometimes, it’s how you run it. They have to line up and push Dbar around or it’s going to be a long night.

    • Bulldog Way

For real? Westco is going to lose to Dbar?? Pleeeese. When was the last time dbar even played us tough? Every year it’s the same ole bs that dBar is going to be good and then we show up and crush them and we don’t hear anything about dbar until the off season when they once again say this is our year to be good. When is everyone going to learn there lesson and understand dbar would be a middle of the road team in d11

      • Mr. Football

Thank you Bulldog Way. Your comment is now a poster hanging inside the Diamond Bar locker room!

Please……how do you feel about db beating west co…sorry about that

      • The Dude

        Seems legit

  • Don

Noodles is riding the pine because Noodles Senior left a signed paper trail announcing their intent to take the Noodles Show east and play for a team run by Broadus . . . errr . . . Maine. Maggiore could have denied knowledge of this on the transfer paperwork but that would have been perjury. I understand the management team at Payton, Ltd also made their intentions known in writing presenting a
similar situation for Zernicow and company. Only the intra-district transfer loophole saved his bacon.

The Scoby camp, being a smidgen more sophisticated in the ways of moving kids from one team, dang, my bad, one SCHOOL to another, just left. Quietly.

Blame the old schools, the old coaches or the Southern Section all you want, it is the parents/guardians trying to get the last word in that are hanging these kids up.

    • AramT

So what! Who cares if the intentions were made clear in an email to a coach. Isn’t that private? The dad wrote a private email to a coach that didn’t stay private and got used against him. That’s totally ridiculous. Like Fred always said, these parents are being made villains for making their intentions and concerns known to a coach. So what if Noodles wanted to leave! Even if it was because he didn’t like the color of the uniform. That’s his right. That’s his parents right.

We’ve seen WAY TOO MANY KIDS lose seasons because of this crap rule. They have two or three seasons on varsity (if they’re lucky) to make it all happen. To take one of those away, is that what CIF and coaches are about? Sit him out two weeks or 30 days, but not an entire season.

      • Don

Who cares? I’m guessing the people who wrote the Blue Book but hey, I’ve been wrong before.

Back in about 2007 I stated (on the old blog) my personal position was that parents ought to be able to move kids around at will. I think what I said was something like, “If a parent has the money and the wherewithal to put the kid on a plane every morning to fly to Vegas and attend Bishop Gorman, so be it”. Since then I have restated that same position a half dozen different ways, most of the time in a smartass manner.

Do I think moving from one program to another works. Almost never. For every Nick Grigsby who actually does succeed, there are dozens whose football, and baseball and basketball, careers die on
the vine. Why? Sometimes it’s the silly rules made by adults trying to keep parents from messing the kids up but most of the time it’s
just that the kid tires of it all. Tires of traveling crosstown or across counties to go to school, sometimes loosing enthusiasm because the whole thing is more effort than a schoolboy sport deserves and sometimes the kid actually resents having been pressured to leave his friends behind.

I’ve been watching this parade for nearly 50 years and I’ve seen a lot of changes in prep sports. One thing that hasn’t changed is that
most kids begin playing sports to please their parents. They sometimes mature into an appreciation for the sport itself but more often the ones with real talent grow to enjoy the attention and the perks that come with that attention. Another thing that hasn’t changed is the endless queue of “adults” who try to use those kids for their own purposes. Parents, coaches, “advisors”, trainers, officials and yeah, the media.

        • The Chef

I am sorry Don as you are a loyal fan but Maggiore is a small, spiteful, mean spirited pathetic, calculating hypocrite without character or ethics or integrity… He has lived by the transfer and solicited the top talent in the Valley. However to discourage an exodus from his floundering program and to punish a player and parent who called him on his crap, he went out of his way to persecute a promising high school athlete. Above all Mags is an egotist who puts himself above principals, student, rules and right. Now that students and parents have seen his tactics, I doubt that he will be able to recruit his way to prominence again… The Westco Administration should put him out of the misery he has made of this situation and give him the bullet.

          • WCDan

Chef, your real credible, you’ve never even met the guy.

          • The Chef

Correction I have met him multiple times… He shook my hand then quickly looked around to see who was looking… very smooth with a quick smile and ready laugh,,, made me check my watch and wash my hands… Big smile no heart…

oh I forgot the weird squinty eyes

          • WCDan

Snappy retort Dan. Excellent rebuttal with clear articulation of fact and laser like focus on clear and convincing counter argument. Or perhaps simple minded refusal to recognize anything that you can deny because it doesn’t match up with blind lap dog loyalty to your fantasy.

          • WCDan

Ha ha, rebuttal to what? You shake a guys hand and suddenly through osmosis your an expert on his faults and can tell exactly what he is thinking? You should open up a palm reading shop. You write all that bs on a guy you don’t even know, why am I even wasting my time your post.

          • The Chef

I don’t need osmosis, all I need is to watch his despicable, hypocritical, cowardly, self serving acts to know what kind of man he is. The reason you are wasting your time is because you are a lap-dog which is akin to being a fool and you simply can’t allow any credible articulation to how low Mags really is,,,, You seem to believe that a meeting only consists of hand shaking,,, I not only shook Mag’s sweaty hand but there is a good reason why i talk so strongly as to Mags attempts to solicit High School student and their parents… because I heard it 1st hand…

          • WCDan

Credible articulation? I’m looking hard for anything close to credible or articulate in your post, your so full of BS I can smell you through the screen, lets see here, despicable, hypocritical, cowardly, self serving, all gathered from a hand shake. Pretty incredible man you are! So tell me again Maxwell Smart, where were you when these so called solicitations happened, hiding behind a flower pot? Or were you undercover, dressed as a secretary.

          • The Chef

No i was receiving “the pitch” for my son… and no i did not call up the CIF because someday it may come to light and I just had to protect my Son… I think the BS you are smelling is what you are being fed at WC

          • Aaron

I guess Chef never heard of a kid named Jacob Shirley who also left WesCo for athletic reasons. His were really more about Baseball than Football. He was denied a full year of athletic eligibility. He also did not leave WesCo quietly.

          • Don

Jake is a great kid and yeah, he did miss some seasons because of a school change and later bounced back to Mt. Sac from (I think) Sacramento State and had some more success. The guys I think about go back to names like Danny Lujan, Brian Vogle, Darryl Lightner and many more that fell off the map and were never heard of again after
being schoolboy studs and then playing the school hopping game.

Too bad John Strey isn’t with us any more. His memory was almost
photographic when it came to kid’s names he’d come across over the
years at the old Whittier Daily News. The big winners in the talent derbies of old were Dwayne DeSpain, Marijon Ancich, and Ernie Johnson. Those three guys had SE LA County coaches muttering under
their breath for years . . . and the titles to show for it. (Maybe you could get Jack Mahlstede to tell a tale or two about those guys . . . but then, maybe not.)

Different (coaches) names in the past couple decades but still kids left behind, mostly to fuel the egos of parents who live to see their names in the paper or in the case here, the blog.

      • WCDan

        Aram your quote,
” So what if Noodles wanted to leave! Even if it was because he didn’t like the color of the uniform. That’s his right. That’s his parents right.”
West Covina feels the same way, if you want to go, no problem just go quietly, don’t make a fuss, especially during playoffs and don’t try to take our best skill players with you. Look at the kid that left with Noodles over to Diamond Bar, he went quietly, he is now eligible.
Oh and for all you others that keep bringing up Jones and his transfer, It was a legal transfer done before his sophomore year. Approved in Aug of 2011. The freshman transfer rule, passed in 2006 allows this kind of transfer before sophomore year.

      • Truth

        Whatever happened to loayalty?
What are we telling these young men if they are allowed to jump from team to team (everyone knows its not an academically motivated move) in hopes of finidng a way to be on a better team? Are we not just saying that it is ok for them to take the easy way out and always search for the greener grass. Look at our world today. The divorce rate is at an all time high and we live in a world of fatherless children. We are so quick to run from adveristy as opposed to stay and fight through it. If you don’t think the two are related then you’re a fool. Every coach claims that they are inn the buisness to mold teenage boys into respectful young men who contributes to society. If we did not inforce the rules (regardless of how pointless you may believe they are) what kind of lesson is that? There is a bigger picture. Every action has a consequence. So forgive me for not carrying that a coach reported an infraction. Grow up.
And for that guy, whoever he is, talking about what a terrible person Maggior is. You sir, are an idiot. If you shook the mans hand you would know that along with coach Maddox over at monrovia he is a man of high character.
Bottom line: Stop allowing the youth of America to take the easy way out.

        • Basic

While your statements make perfect sense and sound great, I think they are a little like communism, on paper it looks good just not always practical in real life. I do agree that “We are so quick to run from adveristy as opposed to stay and fight through it” and that we must do a better job of being better parents and teaching our kids this great value; however, we or at least I) want to give our kids the best opportunities out there and sometimes that means waking up at 5 to take a long drive to go to a school out of your district that offers something your home school does not weather that be sports, math, science, arts whatever. Stop looking at this as a football only problem.

If your home school has issues with gangs would you not make every effort to get your kids to a better school? And if one of your kids has an athletic talent why should he or she be punished for doing what the other kids are doing? Let’s take it a step further and make it specific to sports, what if your home school is Blair, 20 kids play football and it’s falling, you have a talented kid, your statements basically tell me that he MUST stay there and tough it out, who is that fair to and what are you teaching? Yes, some will say he will still get scouted and offered, but really HOW? His a QB and has no line, no receivers how is he going to get an offer?

I do agree with your other comment about following the rules, but that is what needs to change, allow one transfer at ANY time for ANY reason no penalty, and allow a 2nd transfer where you lose 25% to 50% of your regular season no matter the sport. To me, that is simple to enforce and solves most issues.

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

No, we need to STOP interferring in everybody’s life!! and where were your statements when Payton and the priors transferred?? You seem to only be applying this to Noodles!

  • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

We need to leave this conversation be!! What has been done is done! I expect this game to be back n forth until that last seconds!

    • WCDan

      Agreed,

    • Lancerito’s Buddy

      Just LET the NOODLE play.

    • Charles Watson

Tell me why he would not leave.

      • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Why would he leave and go back to DB after seeing all the comment and back stabbing some of the WC folks have done on this blog!

        • Bulldogs have bite

Don’t you think “back stabbing” is an ironic statement?

  • Football Dad

I agree that 99% of the transfers are athletically motivated, so If a player and his family decides to transfer then they have to deal with the consequences. However, I think if player wants to transfer let him go. The team is more times than not better off without him.

  • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

maybe WC has a score to settle…your boy “noodles” skipped out on them…angles cut both ways AT

  • RealTalk

So just a quick thought… Would it be ok or fair if all these transfers started to go to one school, like a Poly or Mater Dei or a BA… What happens to the leagues? What happens to high school football? What if there was that one team that won CIF every year due to transfers? Because every parent wants their son or daughter to go to a winning program. I feel for “Noodles” not being able to play this year, but you can’t compare him to Jake Payton or Scoby transfer situation because every transfer is reviewed by the CIF on a case-by-case basis. What you have to understand is coaches have every right to challenge that transfer. CIF rules say you have every right based on these stipulations to challenge a transfer, it’s up to CIF to make that final call?

  • Let Them Play

@Aram The only reason Payton is playing is because he is a foster child and a ward of the state, otherwise he would be sitting and watching like noodles. Same with Kurt. Dont be fooled into thinking that if Scobys was challenged that he wouldn’t have been denied eligibility.

    • Bishop All Stars

All about letting them play, but last I checked… Peyton wanted to play at upland, was denied and to salvage his season went for the inter district transfer. He was denied at upland… Check the facts. As for Scoby… He has perfected the transfer and I take my hat off to him.

      • RealTalk

And that’s why it’s a case-by-case issue. Peyton transferred with in the rules delegated by the CIF… Period! Upland did not challenge the move, but they had every right too… I get it… The rules are the rules set by the CIF not the coaches.

    • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Why are you airing this kids business like that?? Thats classless and low!

  • reality

The comment that irritated me was that Hull was helping coach by telling what he knows about West Covina’s offense. He should know everything because he was their QB. Diamond Bar coaches are also more than likely spreading this inside dope to the other coaches in the Hacienda when they play West Co. so they can eliminate them from contention. How much did they tell Diamond Ranch about West Covina’s secrets??. We will never no the truth but integrity and character at Diamond Bar is very suspect.

    • The Dude

Why would DB want to help the other teams in the league?

      • MoreKetchup

        Because they hate us….

        • The Dude

Isn’t DR one of DB’s bigger rivals? It’s a major stretch of logic

          • MoreKetchup

As long as they are giving them information about their own game plan, it is irrelevant.

          • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Not really! DR is NOT even in Diamond Bar , so thats why many of us dont see the rivalry! DB’s rivalry is walnut , has been for yrs!! DR rivalry should be Ayala! since technically the school borders Chino Hills/Philips Ranch more than DB

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

Apparently there are others that are not fond of WC either! I can only wonder why!

    • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

This is nothing that most coaches in all leagues do! Sharing tapes..scouting?? There is nothing illegal about that! Your a fool if you think Maggiore has NOT done the same!

    • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

So accusing DB of something you cant prove is the way to go???

      • reality

Who on this board has to prove their opinions? So to answer your question, YES. Innuendo and conspiracy theories is what makes this blog go.

  • Football

OK, WCo won CIF and have won them with all home grown kids from West Covina!!!

    • disqus_wD2qThRkJd
