PrepXtra Live Postgame Show: Breaking down St. Francis’ shellacking of Monrovia and plenty more …

  • observantcat

IF is a BIG Word, Maddox and company are good at letting the athletes play within themselves and that allows for the guys to get the most out of their athleticism. That’s why Monrovia is a scary team because if all of these guys play like I know they can, this game could just as easily get out of control. Maddox is also the MASTER of making adjustments so we are never out of a game. Just ask 2011 San Gabriel and 2012 Paraclete, great games are always won in the second half otherwise it was never a challenge to begin with.

    • Ana Kin

The game got out of control alright. By the way, Davis is the brains in that coaching staff.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

Hey…blame is very strong word… We praise our coach and we criticize our coach as well. That does not mean we are not behind him. That’s they way its always been at Monrovia. Fans and Alumni still get upset about team mistakes verses Blair. He is the best coach we’ve had hands down, But no one is above a critique… Tonight is a “Coaches game”, a game of adjustments…A pregame plan along with Immediate adjustments. If either coach makes a questionable call it is going to cost them pts or loss of pts. I have no Idea who’s to blame if we lose tonight. I could be players, it could be coaching, it could be both. However, stupid penalties and bad play calling has to be minimal. It’s going to be fun…

    • Ana Kin

      Or maybe you’re only D11 good ?

  • Royal Blue Thunder

    Meanwhile…in Big Boy Football Land…

Maxpreps #25 in the USA, Bishop Gorman, NV. is taking on Maxpreps #1 in the USA, Washington, FL.

Bishop Gorman has routed Servite and Crespi but barely escaped Santa Margarita by the score of 34-31. Bishop Amat beat Santa Margarita 38-28 the week before.

    • What?

Is that your way of trying to say that Rancho is 10 points better then Gorman?

      Du-Rovia -14
      SF – 28

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Lol..Du Rovia hahah…The boys below the tracks would beg to differ… Mon – Ruarte sounds better…

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Nice update but we following Rancho Cucamonga Football at Monrovia now… We only look up to league champions…You are not so bad…

      • Boycott lancerito

Low profile??? I’m pretty ,sure culver city is right at the same competition as MT… And I can guarantee you CC would take out MT

  • Inland_FB_Fan

LOL…Aram & Fred are in love with D.11 football. What’s next, the LA times focusing all of their attention on Occidental college’s FB program?

    • GP AKA Green Machine

and you are jealous of D11 football…I think that’s worse… See how that works…

      • Inland_FB_Fan

        48- 14 , see how that works?

  • SGV_FOOTBALL

    Aram,

I know La Serna isn’t playing this week but you have to put them in the top 5. Westlake just beat St. Bonnies and the week before beat Crespi. I know Westlake was missing a stud on Defense but La Serna’s schedule is doing them justice.

  • You Watch!

Glendora is deserving of a #1 ranking with a one point win over South Hill…….. Yeah baby!!! Go G-HIGH!!

    • Inland_FB_Fan

You forgot to to say the beat a “Dangerous” South Hills team to coin a phrase from Aram…..HAHAHAHA. Glendora is OVERRATED.

      • Lancerito’s Buddy

Very true. Glendora fired up about being 5-0 playing a soft schedule….. Did’nt they just sqeek by C-NO. ?? Yes.

  • Royal Blue Thunder

See Monrovia dudes….you can’t call out Bishop Amat or Chino Hills and then get absolutely dominated by St. Francis 48-14. Fred tried to tell you that St. Francis had more impressive wins. They had more impressive wins because the LEVEL of COMPETITION they faced was higher than Monrovia’s.

It’s all about level of competition and trust me…there’s a huge gap between teams BA or CH has played and those that Monrovia has played. But you guys will probably go on believing that South Hills is on the same level as Loyola LOL.
I believe we need two plates for this warm and delicious Humble Crow Pie…

    • AMAT 73

      RBT,
Not very cool . A tough lesson learned for the MTown bloggers , but no need to rub it in their face .

      • Royal Blue Thunder

Lesson??? They aren’t gonna learn any lesson from this, dude! hahahhaa! They are going to go on believing that Monrovia is playing the SAME type of ball and the SAME type of competition that Bishop Amat plays.
They say the SAME crap every year….even when they are losing to schools like Ayala, South Hills, and San Dimas.
And I’m a gentleman…I’ll provide forks and knives for their Humble Crow Pie….no need to rub anything in anyone’s faces. That would be savage.

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

          LMAO

        • observantcat

Get past the first round of post season then we can have that laugh together. Until then, you pie will be still in the microwave. LMAO

      • Royal Blue Thunder

You watch, man….The very NEXT thing that’s going to come out of these Monrovia fans’ mouths is gonna be, “ST. FRANCIS WOULD DESTROY BISHOP AMAT” LOL Watch man….watch…

        • AMAT 73

          RBT,
I can bet you dollars to donuts that’s not going to happen . They have too much to think about or as you put it , eating crow ,about backing up all that smack they talked all week then to think about AMAT or CH . They know damn well they are not near our level and if they thought they were , after tonight there is no doubt .Besides we’ve proved ourselves against SF many times , not just once , so I don’t think that is an issue at all .

          • Humble Pie

History tells us that the Monrovia smack talkers won’t be on the blog for a few days. When they finally come back to the blog they will blame the loss on their coach and all the unusual amount of turnovers. Then after they kick around a couple of the horrible teams in their league they will be right back on this blog claiming to be King Kong and ready to smash anyone in the SGV. My only question is, has any bottom level State Champion ever been crushed as badly as Monrovia was crushed tonight?

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Not deserving of a place at State. Maybe they just figured “… Hey, we’re Monrovia.” And figured they had it in the bag. ROFLMFAO

          • observantcat

The truth of the matter lies ahead, the question is and will be, how long does your season last. Monrovia did beat St. Francis last season and St. Francis exacted revenge in a big way on us this season, so, season’ change and so do football teams. Just for fun…. Cal Prep St. Francis 35 Bishop Amat 34….. Good luck against Notre Dame.

        • Bishop All Stars

Very true…. I hear scoby has just transferred to saint Frances .

          • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

it’s St. Francis….a masculine pronoun..St Frances is a feminine pronoun…pretty big difference between the two…FYI

          • Don

Francis is actually a given name making it a proper noun not a pronoun.

But then Galileo was an astronomer and not an writer.

          • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

I stand corrected, nevertheless…there is a substantial difference between the two , but, it’s just gender….so,back to my Leinies(proper noun) Red…. and my boy Galileo was a lot more than just an astronomer….hence, my use of his name

          • http://bishopamat.org/ Joe Amat

It’s the Law of Blogs and never fails. He who corrects someone’s grammar is destined to make a grammatical mistake of their own. Still holds true t form!

          • Boycott lancerito

Yeah yeah yeah I so sorry four spelleng rong hahahaha….get out of here with correct grammar stuff

          • Got UR Back

And as they said saint Frances because they are a bunch of females over there.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

I no, peepol hoo arr that fuuking pikky bug the krap owt of mee.

          • Got UR Back

Talk to me when you actually mean something. Or is it Mr. We just beat a team we should have???

        • Got UR Back

As much as that would be a laugher, I would really like to see it just to shut up those boys in MO-town.

      • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

You mean the same MTown bloggers that go after every other team on the blogs?? Pffft! Please!!

    • observantcat

St. Francis took the Maturity of a good team to another level on Friday night and they deserved the win, regardless of Monrovia’s sloppy play they didn’t come with their A game, but I will stick with my notion that the Cats will be at the top of the Hill at the end of the season. St. Francis QB is much, MUCH better than advertised and I can definatley see him receiving a D1 scholarship by the seasons end. As for all of the Amat Fans, All the Projections have St. Francis by 1 over the Lancers, just though I would take the jab… Monrovia will cruise right though league and CIF, and will do it in a dominating fashion.

  • AramT

That was one of the most humiliating losses I’ve ever seen a top-notch program take.

Your defense couldn’t get off the field until the SF reserves were in.

Your best two players didn’t even make back out onto the field for the second half.

Monrovia was out-everything’d. Monrovia had more speed, but St. Francis was somehow faster.

    Just brutal … and shocking.

    • OuttaYourMindTrib

… and that ladies and gentlemen is why we play the games.

My beloved Ayala Bulldogs came up short as well, though since I was not at the game, I can only look at the score and say, at least they did not get humiliated.

      • Inland_FB_Fan

They just lost to the #335 team in CA….HAHAHA. Not looking so dangerous now ‘eh?

        • OuttaYourMindTrib

Aram said “dangerous”. I said (back in August mind you) it’s going to be a long season. Looks like I’m right and Aram is wrong.

What was that about turning me over your knee or something like that Aram? I get the whole CalPreps thing, but THAT is all about statistical probabilities. It does NOT take into account (nor can it) what the human eye sees. What I saw in passing league told me what I’ve said all along… No playoffs for us. EVER. Was hoping my last season in California would be different. Alas it was not meant to be. Que sera….

          • AramT

The Cal Preps ratings are based mostly on strength of schedule. Maybe the game predictions are about “statistical probabilities”, but the ratings are based on SOS.

Ayala still has a win over DR. Played Monrovia tough and lost a heartbreaker to undefeated Glendora.

I stand by what I said. You tell me who you trust in the Sierra beside Chino Hills. Exactly. I rest my case. Now get off my knee.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

Yes, Aram, Ayala played the Monrovia team ,who got spanked 48-14, tough. They clawed to fight to win against D.6 D ranch, and they lost a “close one” to a Glendora team who squeeked by South Hills last night and has barely won all of their games against average opponents. You still want to stand by your comment of Ayala being a “dangerous” team?
I want to see you jump on that Glendora band wagon so I can see your a$$ thrown off when they finish 4th or 5th in the baseline. I think it is awfully weird you have a thing for boys bent over your knee……by chance, did you go to a Catholic school??

          • Don

At first I thought you were a reincarnation of that kicker-daddy from Upland but I have now realized that you are too arrogant for even Upland . . . you have to be from Cucamonga, the place where Walter White was planning to retire.

Enjoy your run, it’s been good so far . . . but it’s a long season and lots can happen between now and your planned visit to Carson.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

            Don,
How am I arrogant? Just because I speak the truth? I am a CH supporter by the way. I think we’ll win the Sierra and make it to at least the 2nd round…the Semis maybe with a little luck…no further.

          • Don

            Truth?

            (Cue Jack Nicholson impression here)

YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH. LOL

Fact is, ever since Aram and Fred extended the San Gabriel Valley out to Chino Creek this blog has had people telling us how much better the prep sports are in the ie than the SGV. Get over yourself. Yeah, D2 has some talented teams but compared to the guys who play real “big boy football” up in the PAC5, not so much.

Fact is, Inland teams have faced PAC5 opponents 19 times this year
and won only six of those games . . . worse, as a Division, your defense has sucked against D1 teams: Mighty Rancho Cucamonga gave up 29 points to Amat and squeaked out a 3 point win . . . feared Vista
Murrietta DID whip up on Crespi but gave up four TD’s to D7 Downey and lost to a SAN DIEGO SCHOOL! . . . Matty Logan’s Traveling All Stars have given up 135 points to their 3 Pac5 foes this year and only have one win to show for it . . . YOUR little superstars did get a split against D1 teams but lost when Amat dropped 47 points on you. FORTY SEVEN POINTS! Dude, Amat is from the SGV, how could you have let that happen? . . . and that’s your BEST teams.

Your best team so far, Cucamonga, isn’t even in the Calpreps top ten for the Southern Section . . . they are #12, with two teams from the Western and one from the Northern Divisions ahead of them. Weak.

So thump your chest all you want but be careful when you want to compare your D or League with the others.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

            Don,
Besides Amat & maybe CO…Name another team from the SGV that would be competitive in the Inland division???? You are correct, the Pac% is hands down the best division this year, but in the last few years, the inland has held their own against them.
What is the combine record (minus Amat) of all SGV teams vs the pac5? That’s should be easy because none of those teams have the balls to play them.

          • AramT

I love it, comparing the SGV to the IE. No real size differnce there in terms of geography and size of area.

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Just some OT trivia to lighten the mood… San Bernardino COUNTY has roughly the square mileage as NEW ENGLAND.

Now back to our regularly scheduled smack downs.

          • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

san berdoo county is the largest county in the US in square miles…

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

It is. By a pretty wide margin. If you’re looking to get a CCW, it’s one of the only Counties in SoCal where a common citizen can still get one.

          • Boycott lancerito

And don’t forget one of the highest crime rate

          • Don

Riverside and San Bernardino Counties cover more than 27 THOUSAND square miles with about THRE TIMES as many residents as live in the San Gabriel Valley. That’s an area about 8 dozen times bigger.

          • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

I DO think the IE /San Bernardino county has a much high concentration of athletes in terms of demographics

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

Don, you must of forgot something… The IE is better then the SGV in one area… They beat us in having less teeth more homes made from metal, and more homes on wheels then we do. Come on give them some credit.

          • Don

They also have some really nice Indian Casinos.

Los Lobos played at Pauma last night.

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

Glad to see we are finding some positives here.

          • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

LOL, i like how you change the subject just like that!

          • Inland_FB_Fan

That coming from someone from the
            “beautiful” city of LaPuente……HAHAHA

          • Boycott lancerito

Oh and this comes from someone that lives in a trailer home making meth…lmfao we would rather live in the sgv then in the new south central…lmfao

          • Inland_FB_Fan

Nope, I live in South Corona on the Trilogy Golf course. Besides Lake Elsinore and Fontucky (we don’t claim those) The IE is filled with newer large homes. It is not filled with the 1,000 square foot shacks with 3 families living together in them. You HONESTLY think LaPuente is better than So. Corona, Temecula, Murrieta, Norco, Eastvale, Chino Hills, Upland, Rancho, etc??? HAHAHAHA

          • Boycott lancerito

Lmfao you think we all live in la puente??? It so happens that I live in chino hills but choose to send my kid to a great school. By far one of the elite schools as well in football PAC-5 D1… And I do appreciate you mentioning my city CH as a good place to live in

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

CH is a GREAT place to live. Been here since the late 80′s. Wish we were not leaving in some ways.

          • Got UR Back

So. Corona, north corona… Still smells like $hit when I drive though there. I guess you are used to it.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

Maybe if you’d wipe your a$$ once in awhile you wouldn’t smell it..South Corona doesn’t have any cows dumbsh*t

          • Got UR Back

Oh my bad, it’s probably just you. How could I of got that wrong.

          • Boycott lancerito

            Still smells like $hit!

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

check out mister high class over here…. SO CORONA!!! While you are driving back and forth all day someone is playing at your house! HAHAHAHAHAHA

          • AramT

South Corona? South Corona? Are you kidding me? Is that like Beverly Hills adjacent? I’ve heard it all now … “South Corona” … you know …because you don’t wanna be called Corona. Hahahahahahaha.

          • Got UR Back

That’s what happens when they move up in the world to that brand new double!!! When I am in need of a home repair I don’t call Triple A like IFF.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

There you are Aram! Crawling out of your hole to comment on non football post? Why not comment on football related posts?

Yes, it is called Temescal Valley. We are looking to become our own city like Eastvale just did. Have you ever left the SGV Aram? The City of Corona is a Big City. It runs 8 miles along the 15 FWY and 7 miles along the 91 FWY.

          • Boycott lancerito

Lmfao… This guy done has no clue.

          • Inland_FB_Fan

Let’s make it fair…Just the I-15 corridor from temecula to Fontana and west to the 57…..That area is much smaller than the SGV and plays much better football than that found in the SGV

          • Don

Wait a minute . . . I thought that Fredo made the Chino Valley part of the SGV . . . whattup?

          • Inland_FB_Fan

CH plays in the INLAND division…who care what a newspaper sportswriter says.

          • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

            AMAT..they can.they have,they will

          • Inland_FB_Fan

Yes, they are the only ones.

          • Frank

Once you get into ontario you are in a nasty wasteland. That wasteland is even hated by those who live in it. Too many people have told me how they hate the area even though they might have a nice home. Most of that area was a desert until the mid 80′s. Then people in la county found out they could get rid of the trash if they built affordable houses in this wasteland. SO that is basically what all the IE is.

          • Lancerito’s Buddy

Finally a realist from the IE!

          • Don

Sorry, trying to make one of those “Ali vs Louis” comparisons isn’t my thing and frankly I think they reduce the power of my basic point which is there is great value in all of the programs, even the rotten ones. Kids who participate in any extracurricular activity have an easier time in HS than ones who don’t. That includes the Band, Chorale, and even football at Keppel. Winning is great but that’s what it’s all about.

It’s that view that also reduces the amount of value I assign to the uber-successful football programs. They give too much attention to too few kids on a campus and often tend to emphasize the individual rather than the team . . . being an old fart, that just ain’t me. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching well played fallsport and stand amazed year in and year out at the things the NFL stars do but that’s also too centered on a team’s stars, (think Peyton Manning here), for me to really get passionate about.

As for the Inland holding it’s own in recent years, again, we are talking about a relatively small group: Centennieal, Norco, Vista Murrietta, Upland, Cucamonga, REV . . . kinda shrivels after that. Just sayin . . .

          • Inland_FB_Fan

I agree with you that it is about the kids and ALL school activities offer values and life lessons.

          • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

            I agree whole-heartedly…well…92% anyway !

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

Win the Sierra, then 1 and done. There’s shame in that this year considering you don’t have a real QB and overall the Sierra is WEAK this year.

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

You’re the one that got on my case for blasting Ayala. It’s CH’s league title to loose. C-No won’t have squat to say about it and neither will anyone else. I ALSO stand by my statement that CH is one and done in the playoffs. Not going to make a good run with no QB.

    • Got UR Back

      Brutal yes, shocking…. Not!

    • GP AKA Green Machine

You are right… Like I said this game was personal for St. Francis…This is one game where our staff and players should have realized what was coming. St Francis went for it on fourth down and went for two in the opening drive…Message, they are trying to score 50. There was no reaction from the staff our players….that’s when I knew…Uh oh…We are in big trouble. The likes we have never seen before…That should be a life time reminder to the Green. We were never on the offensive.. we were hanging on for dear life from the kick off…Sometimes the @$$ kicking of a life time is what’s needed to push a program forward. When this year is over…As a program, i would go back and study this one..not only the tape but reflect on our preparation as a whole…

      • AMAT 73

        GP,
You had made a comment on why does everyone assume that the Parochials have dicipline and focus , well I think you got a huge dose of it on Friday night . MTown’s lack of those things hurts them big time. I think SF went for it and went for 2 because they were there for the taking and the old saying “take what they give you” is what they did . It seems when MTown faces a team that has an answer to what they bring game night the staff has no answers or is unable to make the adjustments. Depth is another issue because after those D-1 athletes the drop off is huge . Someone on the MV blog pointed out it seems the coaches mainly rely on their players being better athletes then the opposing team and ride that fact to the playoffs and forward which in the RHL and Mid Valley division will get MTown far . I don’t think it’s having to play 3-4 tough games in row that’s the problem , it’s when you face a team with equal or more talented and better coached then you guys think, is the problem . Or maybe you’re right as you don’t have a string of those 3-4 tough games during league so that’s why you run the table . On serious note what happened to Potts and also Scoby . It was reported on the live feed that Scoby came out at half time and was bent over and never made the field again . Hope he and Potts are ok and it’s nothing serious .

        • GP AKA Green Machine

We were missing 4 Starters on Defense… However,The purpose of the off season… is to get your bodies prepared for a long season. We normally do go into league with some nick nack injuries….However no one in our league is able to expose that. By the time playoffs come everyone is back to 100%, and we roll again. Of course the comp is not as tough, but still…You string together 2-3 tough games in preseason and The SF game is the end result. That’s why is so tough to win a Inland or Pac 5 title. You get through a tough preseason, to prepare for league, then you go through a rigorous league schedule, the you go through a even tougher playoff field. If you are healthy and survive, you crowned the best in Socal and among the best in the nation. You have been around long enough to know my act lol…I will always come back to the brutal truth if it has been proven. Next year…I will hope Mtown can bang among the best…I think after our first true reality check under Maddox…I am hoping that our program learns from this and builds the type of players that can handle the mental and physical pressures of playing teams better than you are.

Getting down on your knees in front of the Monsignor is what you call discipline?

I thought you Parochials had stopped doing that…? No…? I guess that’s why you like the old saying “take what they give you”…!

          Heh…heh! Heh…heh! Heh…heh!

          Not in 2013 Either…

Last time the village idiot was seen was leaving AMAT with his tail between his legs after his puppies let him down , I guess he’s done licking his wounds , not in 2012 or 2013 either hahahahaha.

  • reality

After listening to Aram’s wrap up he stated that Monrovia was faster and more athletic than St. Francis but could not figure out how they got humiliated. Not putting words in his mouth but he is pointing out a coaching problem. Since summer passing leagues many posters identified a lack of discipline on Monrovia and that it would eventually make them look very bad.Well, according to Aram it happened tonite.

    • Inland_FB_Fan

Are Monrovia’s “stars” a bunch of front runners? When things go south, they unravel. Why didn’t Scooby play the 2nd half. I didn’t hear anything about him getting injured in the 1st half. When things get tough, the true character of a team team shows.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Interesting observation…You have to get the snot beat out of you a few years to build up the Character needed. Like I said…this was the best thing to happen to the green. Far more valuable than any title…

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Aram called me out saying that I insinuated that it was coaching…Well…you have to take a look at that. Monrovia did not look prepared. Monrovia did not have any plays to run after SF made the adjustment on Scoby. Nor did the come with any new wrinkles to catch SF off guard. Every time Potts or Scoby tried to get going a holding call here or there..The calls were legit too! The Defense had some players out, but the offense put them in some bad spots…Special teams was not good. You can’t just chalk it up and say SF was upper division team. You can’t just ignore. The consensus says that Monrovia will beat themselves…I don’t think the was the case Friday. They were just a better team, but we did not do anything correct. We did not enter the game in right frame of mind. Coaches have to shoulder that. I hope our coaches learned something as well..

      • MonkeyWrench

Your players were out/dinged because they got beat up in games aginst Ayala and South Hills.

        • GP AKA Green Machine

          Exactly…which is shameful

      • Not So Fast My Friend

The coaching staff should have, if they didn’t already know. It’s easy to fall into a routine. This play works for us, so there’s no need to develop any new wrinkles to it. That’s a failed strategy because even if you’re a very physical team or are supremely quick and have your bread and butter plays, someone is scheming to stop it. Odds are sooner or later they will. Looks like St. Francis game planned to stop Monrovia’s core plays and the coaches didn’t or made few adjustments as a result.

        • GP AKA Green Machine

That’s what happen…You should have a weekly progression of plays developed, so you can turn to something new when needed. Whether it be right out the gate or later on in the game. We ran the same plays from last year in that game. There was no way SF wouldn’t be prepared…They ran different plays and we were not prepared.

          • Not So Fast My Friend

That sounds pure and simple as a coaching failure. They didn’t prepare their team to compete against St. Francis. I would never, ever, ever, use the same plays the year before or even the week before as my core, without some wrinkles to it. Lesson should be fully learned by now.

  • Rene77

Very productive game for the lancers. It will be tough road ahead for the next 4 games, but I think they are ready for battle. Hopefully our kids come back health. Lets go AMAT and good luck in league.

    • Got UR Back

Yes sir R77!!! It was nice to see the young pups step up and play some ball!

  • Inland_FB_Fan

Monrovia & Ayala fans….you still out there? Hello?? Hello?? (crickets..) HAHAHAHAHAHA

    • Not So Fast My Friend

      Lol.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

No Cricket here…..I’ll do it again next year until we have a break through…

    • OuttaYourMindTrib

Ay…. I’m tougher on my team than anyone…

I was not predicting a win… that’s the goofballs running this joint.

  • Rafael

I was really surprised that SH played Glendora well at least defensively. Offensively I thought they would struggle unless they had a couple of tricks up their sleeve. SH had one trick which was the half back or receiver pass after it was handed off to him, it worked for about 55 yards and should of been a TD if the guy was a little faster but either way It worked well and went to it again which was wide open but the pass was off target. Other than that the offense was very predictable and again just like last week 0 points in the second half for the offense so great job offensive coordinator. I can envision the coaches blaming the loss last week to a great Monrovia team but as you can see from the loss to St. Francis they are not so great. By the way where are all of those Monrovia loud mouths?I thought they would of at least came on here and said they got beat by a better team and give congrats but went into hiding, pretty embarrassing. Oh well back to what I was saying Goss ran the ball decently, he plays with lots of heart but very limited vision and speed.

  • Rafael

I have found it interesting that coach rodriguez was given all these props last year for being a great coach after taking over for Bogan but he received a pretty strong team and took over a coach that was burnt out and did not want to go thru the grind of the Sierra League. he is not that good, not bad either but middle of the road. I feel bad for the boys next week when they play Chino Hills because they should not be in the same league as that school with that enrollment. I hope they at least finish second in league but will have their hands full with Ayala and Charter Oak and we all know Chino Hills will take first place.

    • That Dude

you have no clues who these kids are and what it takes to get a win for south hills. Fuzz rodriguez is a good coach. South Hills has had the lead at half time of every game this year. With only about three legit skill players and one lineman Fuzz is a miracle worker. You bloggers don’t know shhht about what a coach does day in and day out to bring the best out of a team.

      • Rafael

You proved my point exactly, they had the lead in every game so they shouldn’t be 2-3. Good coaches know how to finish games. It sounds like you don’t know shhht about football. You say one legit lineman but all the hype was that this senior class was undefeated their freshmen year. That sounds like an excuse to me. Big ole Rindecki not sure of the spelling was suppose to be special but the coaching has done nothing with the kid. I see no miracle working from fuzz but losing leads just like you confirmed.

        • Valley Athletics

Josh radeki . Josh radeki went to south hills for baseball and switched to football only . Was always a big kid but very slow . Have not seen him in 3 years.

  • New York

Humble pie is right, but I don’t remember any Monrovia bloggers making claims THIS year that Monrovia football is on the same level as Bishop Amat football. If anyone did, then they are definitely not aware of what it takes to win football games. Furthermore, though, one poor showing doesn’t discredit a team. Are all the turnovers that Amat committed against Rancho truly reflective of the Lancers? I don’t think so. Not at all. I was shocked that Amat lost the game the way they did.

    • Valley Athletics

Greenie after last weeks win , got in here and said he wanted to see the cats schedule teams like Amat , CO and chino hills . He did not say they would win , but they would be competive . Nothing wrong with wanting your team to play better teams . But Monrovia should schedule diamond bar , Muir , la mirada or diamond ranch in my opinion .

      • New York

Scheduling CO and Amat in place of San Dimas or Arcadia or Ayala would be awesome. It is good to have a couple stretch games and then an undisputable step-up game. I don’t care about playing Chino Hills or Ayala. Even though Chino Hills is great, they are neither geographically significant nor a known juggernaut that would create excitement and focus. Amat, CO, Rancho and those types of teams would command the type of focus and excitement needed for Monrovia to be fully invested. St. Francis has been very down the past couple years and does not create a lot of excitement until now that they whipped us.
Muir, Diamond Bar, La Mirada and Diamond Ranch: Muir is not allowed, Diamond Bar is not exciting (nor are they are top team), La Mirada could be good but Monrovia is not in a high enough division for LM to schedule, Diamond Ranch would be a great annual matchup, but there are others such as West Covina or Charter Oak that would be more meaningful.

        • Valley Athletics

Diamond bar will be exciting next year with Ll that talent retuning . Kenya bell , Cordell broadus , noodles hull , Bryan lamb . They will be a south east contender . The division Monrovia should be in .

          • reality

Diamond Bar will be going D2 next year with Bonita. Good luck against Chino Hills, Glendora etc.Better win it all this year because after that you are more apt to win the lottery.

          • SGV Guy

Actually DBar is moving into the newly created Palmares League. Rumor has it, that the Palmares will be placed in D5, D6, or D7. CH is being moved to the Baseline League which will probably remain a D2 League.

        • disqus_wD2qThRkJd

          Excuses!!

          • GP AKA Green Machine

There nothing to Say…you can fill in whomever you want…I am not going to say it should be this division or that division. They should be looking for games where they are complete underdogs..no chance of winning…and figure out how to climb those Mountains. Whichever upper division quality team is willing to play us…set it up. Then Prepare like it’s the midvalley title game because it’s going to be a much tougher game…

        • Not So Fast My Friend

Charter Oak? LOL. I have respect for what Monrovia does, but seriously, when you’re looking up at those other schools, you’re not really in a position to declare who’s more of a significant opponent to play against. Those schools you listed as being able to “…create more excitement and focus” wouldn’t play you. There is no benefit to them, nor a perceived challenge. Why would they want to do you a favor and play down? They generally pick equal or greater than programs to play against. The magnanimous tone of your post dismisses the point you were trying to make.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Monrovia should keep SF on the schedule, drop Arcadia, and add another team that can spank you 50-0. Monrovia can not afford to have any easy team on their schedule. Otherwise we don’t learn…

    • Royal Blue Thunder

Greenie: “The Green Shirts are allowing only 9 ppg and 13 ppg vs Sierra league teams. Would it be safe to say if Mtown was in the Sierra, they would be tied for first with CHills? I think they are playing along the level of the big 3 BA, CH, LH.”

Observantcat: “Happen to See Crespi in action and if you think for a minute that they are better than MTown you would be dead wrong. The real fact is that we have much more athletes and are more dynamic in terms of playing it forward.”

Greenie: “Really do you think Mtown can beat La Serna….I do..”

Obervantcat: “All we hear is who Monrovia doesn’t play and who Monrovia won’t schedule, but when you get to the brunt of whats really going on were still ranked amongst the best of them. And your’e right, I think Monrovia would beat Crespi by at least 2-3 TD’s if they were to play tommorow.”

      • Frank

Every year a few of the mtown-duarte bloggers get a false sense of reality, until they lose to a mid level team. New York is one of the few who makes good analysis and comments. Many of the others are just bragging.
This has been happening for a couple years. Last year was evident that they are a good team only at the low levels. They came to Amat for a 3 way. You could see that they were now where near the level of an Amat team. Even their best players looked slow to the Amat players. The reality is that its a major difference in the football level.

        • GP AKA Green Machine

Actually, it has nothing to do with the actual speed of the players..It has everything to do with knowing what you are doing. You can run faster, when you know where you going and where you are supposed to be. Amat, CH, SF and those uppers know exactly what to do. We don’t run our plays perfect therefore, players are running slower while executing. Drills, Drills and More drills are needed.

          • Frank

Glad to hear you admit that. That would be a coaching problem or maybe the need to be faster isn’t necessary at that division level.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

I think If Mtown played that game again, they would be much better.. the fact is you only get one shot until next year.

  • Not So Fast My Friend

Any coaching staff with games against Monrovia for the rest of the season will want the film to this game.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

They won’t see the same Monrovia team..However, it does not matter now…That game was personal..

      • Not So Fast My Friend

There’s always some defensive and offensive nuggets in every film. Teams that win a lot, overlook where they’ve become vulnerable at. They become complacent and comfortable. That’s nothing new, it happens to most teams. They do that until they get that wake up call. I’m sure Monrovia will fix what they need to, but that won’t stop any school from checking out the video and see if they can duplicate in big schemes or small what St. Francis did.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

GP is here take my medicine…Once again. My attempt to talk Monrovia up failed. I’ll have to wait to next year to see if Mtown can measure up to the rest of the top teams. We had the stage… it was there, and we laid a complete Egg. A banged up Monrovia team, wanted to no part of St Francis that night. Mtown was never in the game. The Cats look unprepared, and did not match the intensity that St Francis brought to the table. From the the beginning St Francis put the pedal to the metal…and never looked back. Complete shell shock. Penalties and few nick nack injuries, and we were through. That’s not an excuse..you must overcome those things. It’s a part of the game. Monrovia still is not ready for the type of game. As far a scheduling the Best teams….Mtown should. A few more lumps like these, is exactly what is needed. BA, CO, CH…this is what those types of programs look like when the stage is set and lights are bright. Fred, Steve and Aram were spot on with their opinions along with the Entire SGV. That was truly a D11 performance. Maybe the Cats get better down the road, but right now….Athleticism left, and Athleticism right will not beat a quality, prepared upper division team. So I am here taking my medicine.. Disappointed…now waiting to see how much we can improve…the only respectable thing left to do is win the rest of our games by a margin of 30 pts or better and shut teams out. We will also have to wait and need someone to lose to get a regional bid. Who’s to blame? Everyone is to blame. It was a complete program folly this week. The only positive spin is to see how the teams we beat finish. The dog and pony show is over for Mtown. It’s time to quietly finish with a midvalley title and take it for what it’s worth.

    • La Mirada 4life

I feel your pain…..I also say Monrovia should be in the Southeast with us.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Actually it felt good.. and was much needed for us. We need to see this and see it often. Our kids finally got to see. They never seen it before…The Big schools will prepare 365 days to the game. SF had this one the calendar along with La mirada…. BA vs CH is classic example of two teams picking up where they left off…They understand because they have to get ready. I know this…But I never point that out about Mtown until after the fact.

        • MonkeyWrench

You do need to schedle up you need to shut up. You be running mouth about every program in da valley. Zip IT. Enjoy your own sucess nothing wrong with being a great D11 team. You only be getting into trouble when you think your more dan dat.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

You are right…winning is the only language that matters… I’ll take your heat..pour gasoline on it…Let it burn.

    • Not So Fast My Friend

If there was a good thing to take from getting a butt kicking like that is the players have a dose of humility and will be ready to go next time. When you’ve been winning like that, sometimes players forget that they have to be ready week in and week out. Not every game will be easy and not every opponent is afraid to play against you. Monrovia learned a valuable lesson that night that should serve them well for the rest of the season.

Glad you showed up. :-) Standby for the mugging that’s coming though. lol

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Oh yeah…when you talk as much smack as i do….you got to step up and take the mugging…anything else is Cowardly…As far as helping the Cats..this is the easy part of the year. That “Shellacking” is one that should serve the Cats well in step up competition. That’s where they needed to learn something…

        • Not So Fast My Friend

More posters should step up to the plate and take their lumps, just like they’re here to take the accolades.

  • Boycott lacerito
