Crescenta Valley beats Bishop Amat to win Claremont Tournament …

Crescenta Valley beat Bishop Amat to win the Claremont Tournament while Claremont beat Chino Hills in the consolation championship game.

Aram’s Take: Last year, Bishop Amat had arguably its best-ever showing on the summer passing circuit … and the Lancers missed the playoffs. So, I’m not gonna sweat this. Crescenta Valley had a nice offense last year, so this is no surprise. Maybe CV shouldn’t be left out of the Pacific League discussion, which has been dominated by 2013 Southeast Division semifinalists Muir and Burbank.

  • The truth and nothing but…

CV beat BA to win tournament and Claremont beat CH to win championship game? Isn’t the championship game for the tournament or do you mean consolation game?

  • Fight ON #9

CV beat BA?? WTF?? Did Tyler and Tre take the day off? BA fans need to start to accept that a long season is pending. It really doesn’t mater what kind of offense CV had last year I haven’t herd about any of their players being top recruits… really haven’t herd of them at all. So the discussion should be that 7 on 7 means nothing and does not measure talent or 7 on 7 is a chance for 7 on 7 coaches to make a lot of money and hype up offers from big time schools that are no more than a coach saying “I like the kid, he’s a good athlete, if he keeps his grades together we would love to have him”. (Is that what qualifies for an offer now?) Take the pressure off the “Super Sophs” (they are talented) let them go out and try to make the playoff in a league where it looks like they are playing for third. A PACIFIC league team beating PAC 5 in ANYTHING is cause for concern. LANCER NATION STAND UP! There is all types of activity when a 7 on 7 team that one of your “super sophs” is on wins a meaningless tournament. Don’t get quiet when they get knocked off by a team 7 levels down. Let’s keep it 100

    • Valley Athletics

I’ve seen top 7 on 7 teams loaded with 5 star top recruits lose against new 7on 7 teams with kids with no offers . It happens . I also have seen Amat beat a super talented team with a heavily recruited Quarterback in Upland . 7om 7 is a good way to get some practice in . Everyone got to play and learn from this experience .

      • Fight ON #9

Then you are in the minority. Bottom line is hype is hype and talent is talent and talent beats hype 9 out of 10 times. Is there really a chance that Bishop Amat will win more than 2 league games this season or next? Lancer Nation loves hype up talent during the off season (7 on 7 league) how dominant they will be with their top recruits, not to mention the super sophs that won the JV and freshman “rings”(LOL). Then once they all are on varsity (where it counts) They get out coached by a public school coaching staff. (GIVE ME A FU#*KING BREAK! Not a great investment for the BA parents that think PAC 5 means free ride to a D1 program. If you’re siting at home in November it carries the same weight no mater what league your in. There is not a lot of ink during the playoffs about a top talent on a loosing team. As Pat Riley would say BA has a bad case of the “disease of me.” I see transfers pending this summer. But I think CO is full and Snoop no longer a booster for DB. It may too late to jump of the “burning boat” for a lot of daddy ball superstars. Keep the Damien coach on speed dial !!! Just keeping it 100.

        • Valley Athletics

charter oak . You mean the team Amat smoked 2 years in a row . Don’t think they are full . That is why they wanted out of D 2 . No hype on Amat this year . Talent is there . Scouts have been there on a daily basis . Don’t think any one is transferring out . Just the second string players who have been leaving because they don’t want to compete for a spot . And your right , there is a possibility they don’t win 2 league games . But there also is possibility they come out on top .. Your one of those guys just waiting to Amat to lose even in a final of a 7 on 7 , but won’t mention who you represent . Monrovia and Amat fans on here support there teams .

        • Not Since 1995

Sounds like another power player from Monrovia. You sound like Charlie’s browns teacher going on and on about nothing. Let’s just see how it all turns out.

          • Fight ON #9

Wrong again 95′ (as usual). Not a Monrovia fan. Just a fan of high school football talent. Let me state for the record that BA has some outstanding athletes that are top recruits, I love to see them perform. I just really trip off of the silence in Lancer nation when things don’t live up to the hype …… silence….excuses….. everybody had to play that’s why we lost. Give me a break that’s an excuse that works in JAA when everybody needs 10 plays. So you don’t think I’m afraid to state who support, It’s the only team in SGV that has a shot at playing in December. Say it with me now….. Charter Oak. Just don’t know why Charger Nation is so timid. I guess getting beat up by the “schoolyard bully” (Bishop) has got them scared to speak too. Sending this out to the quiet Charger fans . STAND UP!! Stop being punks! Just keeping it 100!

          • AramT

A few years ago, Big Lou put a moratorium on the blogs, and people actually listened. So, very few if any CO fans actually post. They must not want to see Big Lou show up at their door with his violin case.

          • Tan K Solot

That’s funny, Aram. Hey we’re still out here. No hard feelings towards BA though. Not sure who the kooks are that post the crap, but all my friends that follow CO are also fans of Amat, except during game week of course. I haven’t seen the CO ’14 schedule yet, and 7 on 7 isn’t worth bragging about. I’m sure things will heat up the Huddle soon.

          • Not Since 1995

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….. C-no….. That’s making a lot of sense. You guys cried your way out of D2 and you may be correct, you may really have a chance. Because in the last few years facing the like of VM and Uplands of the world you would not have a chance. Yeah you are correct us AMAT fans stand tall for our team true and true. So just keep talking, but I really wish we would have played you all again so we could of smacked your A$$’s up and down the field for a third and forth straight time. Big Lou is much smarter than that, even he knows when to bail out….

    • no-step

Yeah, I saw the tournament. CV just out coached everyone else. Talent is great to have, but coaching it and teaching a passing system really counts…much more than simply telling a good athlete “…you go long.”

      • Here’s JOHNNY, or Little Johnn

Very true but if you think about it, Amat was probably the only team that rotated the QB’s on every series which I think it was a good thing to give them two equal reps. As stated this does not mean a whole lot and I would rather work out the kinks in May versus in Sep through…

        • no-step

So, what does that mean? It means they don’t have a trigger man, and when they choose one they can’t coach up a passing system that can beat CV. Sad, but funny!

          • NHC

Sad but funny you sound like1 of the parents who’s kid could not hang with competiton at amat and decieded to be secound string for free.Maybe if amat ran the wing t like monrovia or the simplified high school spread like diamond bar or CO the dumied down offense would have allowed the qbs to look better. Sorry we play big boy football my man.

        • AramT

Amat rotated QBs? Why? Who were the QBs?

          • Not Since 1995

            Damien Garcia and Ryder Ruiz

          • Mean Joe Green

Aram, I have stated time and time again that BA has a quarterback issue that they do not want made public. Who rotates their quarterbacks equally during any competition? No one who is confident with their starter would do it. Last year, at the Bonita Tournament, Koa was on the field 99% of the time.

          • Valley Athletics

No quarter back issue . They did not split time . Garcia played more than Ryder . Last year garcia got to play some at Claremont tourney . At the Bonita tourney it was all Koa .

          • Mean Joe Green

I stand corrected then Valley. I was only at the Bonita Tourney.

          • AramT

If they split time between the two QBs in a championship game, then that means there’s some doubt about who the man starter. In pool play, I could see it maybe, but in a championship game, if that’s what actually happened, I would say that means controversy.

          • Valley Athletics

Wasn’t there . Was told Ryder got a couple series all day . In the defense is where I heard they where trying different players out . There is no quarter back controversy .

          • v-Boys

Everybody missing one thing Vaughns didnt play in championship game tried but couldn’t “cramping” mmmm so do one man make a difference…Yeah..

          • Not Since 1995

You are right. I did over look that only because the AMAT basher, “Mean Joe Blow” was showing how one tries to make sense of his own personal regrets by trying to bring down other. Yes T-Vaughs would have made a big difference.

          • observantcat

But CV?… where was the rest of the BA super softs?

          • NHC

I wish Amat could play Monrovia so we could see who has the qb issue. Hope u enjoy all the transfers u got from amat maybe it will make u guys relivant outside sgv.

          • Mean Joe Green

You wish Amat could play Monrovia because you think that is your only hope for glory this year. Face the facts dude, you guys are irrelevant in your division. No one and I mean no one is thinking about you in the post season. How much ink has your team gotten in December for the past decade? Its one thing to support your kids like most of us do hear. But we have to hear the sewage spewed from the mouths of delusional Amat fans who feel that they cannot big-up their own team without disparaging teenagers. Let’s also be clear about one thing ALL of Amat students are transfers idiot. Every kid that goes there has transferred out of their home district. All of these kids that you hail as the second coming have come from the districts of schools you now ridicule. Without these districts that you ridicule, there would be no Amat. Is your talent coming from La Puente? Let’s see if Amat fans can cheer on their team without looking across the freeway to see what other schools are doing.

          • Not Since 1995

And that is the case f

          • Not Since 1995

Well in order to technically these parents decided they wanted more for their kids. Don’t think it is all about leaving a district. Someone obviously hit a nerve here some maybe you are one of the kids that transfered out. Maybe your little Johnny did not want to compete or maybe it was just you as the parent that did not want to see your kid have to compete. You can come back on and say what you want but as you say it look in the mirror because you will just be telling your own story. Now go ahead and think of a good comeback. But your still talking to the man in the mirror mean blow.

          • Mean Joe Green

No one hit a nerve at all ‘Not Since’, its just funny how you guys are soooo interested in a school that you continue to say is below you. You guys have bigger problems of your own than to be worried about a sorry D7 school. You guys are like the bully that is always looking over your shoulder, because you know your status is fraudulent and you dread the day that a bigger team comes to knock you on your arses. The interesting thing about it is that you constantly berate the kids of other schools, but remain silent about your own. So lets talk about little Johnny A-Snot. Not wanting to compete??? That is the pot calling the kettle black. Paying for your brat to stay out of the gangs they were inevitably destined for is not the same as being educated. Private schools are a safe haven for parents who do not want their kids to compete academically with the general population at large or whose kids are too afraid of minorities (usually their own). Read the stats homeboy, there is no correlation between a private school education and social success. As for football, tell Long Beach Poly how important your private school education is to winning.

          • Not Since 1995

Wow. Mr Mirror… It only took you 4 days to figure out what I was saying… Your a joke! Go get some Z’s and come up with something better. Mr Christian, my A$$!

          • Mean Joe Green

It took four days because I have a job and a life.

          • NHC

I want amat to play monrovia because i want to see if we can compete with u. If all the kids that left have gotton better for leaving. As for other districts in the valley really could care less. Everyone wants the talent pool in riverside corna area. Few and far between elite althlete in this area. I much rather be irrelevant in pac 5 than D 7.

      • Fight ON #9

Well “big ups” to the CV coaching staff for a great job. With the upcoming PAC 5 schedule maybe it’s time for Bishop to get some coach “transfers” in. Just keeping it 100.

        • Mean Joe Green

          LOL!!

        • NHC

Really bro transfer coaches. Amat has best coaching staff in valley. They win and compete in the pac 5 not because of superior talent idiot. Those kids are coached up. The majority of the kids have been developed through the program. Amat killed co idiot not because they had better talent but because they were more prepared and out hit them CO d line was a pac 5 caliber. Skill guys jus as good as amat. They win cause of coaching and they out work and will out hit any team in sgv. That’s only way they can compete in pac 5.

  • Not So Fast My Friend

Lots of talent was at the tournament. The usual suspects looked like they’ve kept pace with last year and the frauds were still frauds. Bishop Amat still, even losing, looks athletic. It’ll be interesting as always to see if they can keep the momentum going into the fall. Some will and some won’t.

  • The stands

It’s silly to panic or to raise any concerns at this junture; the bottom line is that nobody can really predict what’s going to happen in the fall. So, to fret is tantamount to wasted energy. As many have stated on this blog, the real game is played with pads.

    • AramT

But if you’re CV, there’s no problem taking this as a major positive.

  • Mean Joe Green

I love the excuses that ramble off the lips of Bishop fans when things don’t go right. If you had won, the blog would have been filled with the sewage. Yes, it is time to panic. Your QB situation has been questionable since the start of the year. You simply do not have the jockey to get your horses to the finish line. The prevalent thought and opinion is that “We won all the tournaments last year and did not make the playoffs, so maybe losing the tournaments this year is a good thing”. NOT!! Last year, if you attended the tournaments you saw an athletic and dominant Trevon Sidney push Amat to victory over Upland. Then through the self-proclaimed omniscience of your coaches, they decided to limit the receiver reps of Sidney throughout the season. If you think your present QB is better than Koa, then you are absolutely delusional. The only thing saving you is that the athleticism of Arcanado, Sidney and Vaughns will compensate for any issues with passing.

    • Not Since 1995

Hey mean joe blow…. You have your own issues to worry about down there in your new playoff bliss. So say what you want our qb situation is fine.

  • aintnobodygttimeforthat

No one can predict what is going to happen in the fall. Not even the coaches and players can predict let alone us. These games are for practice and timing and if a team wins it they can use it as motivation for the summer/fall. No one is an expert here, so it’s only one’s opinion.

  • aintnobodygttimeforthat

Talent is one thing and coaching is another. Also having talent, toughness, being football savvy, having a high football IQ and adjusting during the games all come into play if you win or lose. Perfect example Gardena Serra had 5 star, 4 star players across the board and they fell short of a CIF title. Does that make them a bad team? No, plain and simple they just got beat by a better team last year on that day. This catholic A league is going to be brutal, if any team loses 2 games I think they are on the out looking in. Bringing in Serra and Chaminade will only make it tougher for all the other teams. So pretty much there is one spot left for Bishop, Alemany, Notre Dame, Crespi, and Loyola to grab a playoff spot. It will be tough no doubt, but like they say that’s why they play the game. Good luck to all and may the players and coaches determine the outcome in the Fall.

    • AramT

I say two losses wins the league. Probably in a tie with three other teams. Yep, I’m saying it, they’re gonna take turns on each other. Nobody will dominate.

      • Theblue&gold

I would say that 3-3 in league will more then likely get you into the playoffs in most years.

  • Chuck L

Why are BA lower programs sucessful and you don’t see that sucess in the big show? Real simple answer, BA is composed of majority Mexicans. Mexicans tend to top out in development as freshmen/sophomore. The white and black kids continue to develop. I used the word tend so don’t go crazy on me. The majority of the white families have moved to OC, and the blacks have moved to SBC. We are left with the small Mexicans and Asian.

    • Valley Athletics

There are some big Asians . They just don’t play football .

  • Valley Athletics

Congrats to trevon sidney and Tyler Vaughn’s on being ranked on the class of 2016 top 100 recruits at 21 and 27 . Also congrats to Sidney on the WR MVP at the oregon NFTC .
