Monrovia beats Buena Park to win SGV Shootout at Arroyo HS … Los Altos and CV bow out in semis …

New head coach. New quarterback. No problem.

Monrovia’s impressive summer passing circuit campaign under new head coach Chris Stevens continued on Saturday as QB Asaph Zamora and the Wildcats’ stable of top athletes were enough to beat Buena Park and win the SGV Shootout.

Monrovia beat Crescenta Valley in one semifinal to reach the championship. Buena Park beat Los Altos in the other semi.

The Wildcats will play in the Central Division this season and look like they’ll be up to the test if summer passing games are any indicator. The Wildcats also had an solid showing at the Bonita Air Assault two weeks ago.

It was a great day for the Cats. Down the stretch, they beat 4 quality teams to win the title; Northview, Dbar, CV and Buena Park. It was shame that Dbar had to play Mtown so soon. However, 3 Big time players had a chance to go head to head. Spencer of Monrovia, Hull of Dbar, Hawkins of Buena Park. Hawkins and Hull are well known, but no one knows about Spencer! He is arguably one of the best WR/DB’s in the SGV. I know there’s Bell, Sidney, Mason, Crawford, Hull and Holmes, but just throw Spencer’s name in that mix. There has been A lot of controversy surrounding Hull’s ability etc…. Hull is a top tier player. He is a big kid who can run, Passing league does not allow him to show is true skills, he is physical and fast. He stands out above 99% of SGV players. Regardless of where DBar finishes, he is the real deal. No Hype there. Hawkins from BP is effortlessly FAST. Spencer is a quiet, under the radar 3-4 star Talent. These 3 kids could start anywhere, Did I say anywhere…I think so. At the end of the Day the Cats collection speed at the skill position was too much. The only obstacle the green has is youth. It’s everywhere. However, they are going to be ready to Tackle the Central. The good thing is that Mtown loves to hit and be physical, so when the pads come on, they will get to do that. I have not seen a post passing league ranking yet…but I will do one. I’ll factor real game, head to head scenario combined with summer passing league performance.

    1. Bishop Amat

Excellent write up GP. Glad to hear Noodles looked good. I don’t know much about the BP kid other than he’s a big-time recruit. I’ve heard lots about Spencer and it sounds like he’ll be on the same level as all the top players.

Monrovia is really moving up my board. I think it’s pretty obvious the offense is going to do some damage. Still wonder about the run game and how Zamora will do under the lights. But we can only judge by the data we have now and it appears Zamora is gonna be just fine.

Central playoffs are gonna be outta sight.

      • 4peat

hopefully our running game will be fine

We have some horses in the stables waiting to run wild. Trust me on that, wait and see.

But in all fairness, you really can’t doom an entire team based on passing league, would you agree?

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Mtown has Never won a SGV shootout, and never made it out the first game in the Bonita Air Assault. This is a good sign.

        • AMAT 73

          GP,
Might be a bad sign as well . AMAT has never really showed well in these tournaments and last year we did well only to find out as the season started and progressed our running game was not up to snuff . Hopefully not the case for either team this coming season as I know your running game does have some concerns .

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Monrovia’s running game has never been a problem. It’s been the passing game. Bishop and Mtown suffer the same when there is no balance. BA’s running game was fine with Jaylen Moore. Rio was not completely focused on being a QB. It’s about having a legit QB and a Running game in the same year. The last two seasons BA never had a pac 5 caliber Running Back. This year, it seems like the passing game is going to be good at BA. Find a RB and you will be fine.

          • New York

Not enough commitment to the run game has certainly been a frustrating problem at times.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Very true! But we never worked on precision passing either. That’s what makes it so funny.

          • pack5

            Anthony Camargo!

          • GP AKA Green Machine

He wouldn’t be in the top 20 RB’s in the pac 5. You need that type of Runner. Jaylen Moore was.

          • green reality

Camargo is as good or better than Jaylen Moore. If Amat gets back to ground and pound Camargo will be equally or more productive. Jaylen was good but this upcoming o line is real good and Camargo averaged how many yards last season….8? Ryan Wolpin was nowhere near Camargo and he was OC player of the year and is up at Nevada. Camargo has 4.5 speed and runs hard. Again it all comes down to that o line and they have they athletic big guys to get it done. The big question marks will be injury and depth which we won’t know until we know. We hope and pray that they all stay healthy but that schedule is a meat grinder. I have watched a lot of Amat running backs. My favorite was Jay Anderson. I really like Camargos running style. “its not personal, its just business” He does his blue collar thing ….not a whole lot of flash…just smash.

          • 4peat

            Kameron johnson!

          • Observantcat

Amat 73, thats where you are wrong, Monrovia has some very good running backs, most are young but very talented. Remember when the coaching staff from Amat went over to the Duarte Hawkes championship game and picked up Sydney, they also tried to get Johnson, Marquez and Spicer those three are still at Monrovia and to boot we have a kid that was injured last season who stands 5’9 195 and strong as an Ox and goes by the name of Bryson Dreighton when you put all of those pieces of the puzzle together along with a strong passing attack then other teams will find it virtually impossible to defend. Just like our 2012 team that featured Marquise Bias at running back who most in the San Gabriel Valley had never heard of ran like a maniac throughout the season and scored 4 TD’s in the final game along with 262 yards by the 4th quarter. So over here we’re not worried about the RB position this season. Besides every one of our receivers can to it to the house with a touch. 3 players on that relay team that took third in the state 4×400 relay team (41.45) all have potential
            to breeze by defenders.

          • AMAT 73

            Ocat,
Never said MTown didn’t have good RBs . Don’t take every post from an AMAT blogger as challenging MTowns ability on the field . I have noticed the Mtown fans have questions on the run game . Hard to tell what that will be like when viewing these passing league contests and since your featured back is gone from last season , the questions do have merit . Don’t think it’s a question of talent , more of a how will they perform once the lights get turned on and if there’s enough run to have a well balanced attack . Another factor to that is the O line which you get no feedback from passing contests . By the way if there is no run game it only makes it harder for all those gifted receivers to get to the house . In the end it’s all about the horses and the hogs who make everythign else go . Hope you have those 2 pieces in place as it seems you are fine at QB and WR .

          • Observantcat

73, Thats where I am going with this conversation, We have a young talented group of running backs starting with Johnson, the kid put on about 10lbs this summer and is looking good, along with at least 3 other competitors at that position, last season a kid by the name of Bryson Dreighton sat out because of injury but would have definitely seen plenty of playing time along side of Scoby. New kids on the block are Germaine Bias who is a solid player and is going to be a great player when it’s all said and done and Jordan Nathan will participate in the backfield this season this is a kid that would find plenty of playing time on any team in the entire SGV including Amat, quickness and strength separate him from your average RB in the Valley. Marquez & Spicer are also very good backs that will see plenty of Action on both sides of the ball this season. All of these players are Jr’s and Sophomores so they will have lots of fun this season getting in the reps, with no Scoby the sky is the limit for these Cats. Passing league is just a formality of what is to come at MHS, These kids have been playing together since the 6th and 7th Grade including Amat’s Trey Sydney they have all been winners from the start. I think that our team speed will prevail over most teams and our QB will come out looking like a genius.

          • 4peat

well then its not about the Rb..its about the line because u can hav the best rb but if there no where to go.. lol wow

          • New York

I don’t think a good passing tournament is predictive of a poor running game. I think it was a bad coincidence for AMAT.

    • WCDan

After Amat, I think I would go with Chino Hills, they have more coming back than CO or St. Francis, Cal preps has them returning 13 starters including their QB, RB, and their best D lineman and top recruit Trent Goens, who has been a varsity beast since his sophomore year. Next, I think CO and ST. Francis get the nod due to tradition, but both have lost a lot of players as CO has only 8 returning and St. Francis has 10. I would give the edge to CO because they have their QB and RB returning while ST Francis, according to cal preps, looks to be breaking in a new QB. Because of that situation I think both can be vulnerable to teams like Glendora, West Covina, Muir, South Hills, Los Altos, and maybe Monrovia if they can combine the speed with good line play and discipline. Who knows, this new coach may be the person who could orchestrate just that.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

1 BA-No one has beat them
        2. Charter Oak-Chino Hills has lost to them 3 times in row.
        3. St Francis could be number 2. Your Qb point is valid.
        4. Chino Hills-Has to be ranked over Monrovia, with wins over Tesoro, Damien,Great Oak
        5. Monrovia’s New Coach has them placing and winning summer events. Discipline, Pride, and execution, those are all areas of improvement addressed with a former private school coach.

        • TruTH

          1. BA- I agree no one has beat and I doubt anyone in the valley could
          2. Chino Hills- Have great players returning on defense would have beat CO this year
          3. St.Francis- Crawford is a monster and will have a tremendous year
          4. Glendora- They have one of the best quarterbacks returning as well as one of the top offensive lines in the area should get them over the top in the Central
          5. CO- They have Echols returning but break in a new quarterback plus lose key players on their defensive front
          6. Los Altos- they rely heavily on their run game but did surprisingly well in the SGV shootout. Put that together with their lineman and makes them dangerous.
          7. Monrovia- They have the athletes, they have the quarterback no doubt about it, but still need to prove they have the line to go along with it all.
          8. South Hills- had a great appearance in the Santa Fe tournament, return a great quarterback and key offensive lineman. Should make the palomares real interesting this year.
          9. Diamond Bar- though they lose broudus, lamb, Hayes, and maybe bell, what will hurt them most is the graduation of Brown. We know they have the quarterback but will the run game be able to complement.
          10. San Dimas- they return Rufus which will be the guy this season. They also return a really good defense lead by stud linebackers. Should dominate the Mid Valley with ease.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

I am going to Hold Monrovia about Los Altos. Los Altos struggled with Speedy Muir. Monrovia has been as good or better than Muir was last year. This years Monrovia team is by far the fastest team in the Area.

          • WCDan

Greenie, your loyal M-town bias is getting the better of you, I don’t think any of the recent Monrovia teams were as good as last seasons Muir team. No problem though, my West Co/East side bias gets the better of me sometimes. It’s good too see Monrovia finally moving up in divisions, I’m eager to see how the former midvalley champs fare against eastside powers. I think it will be tougher than a lot of you think up here in the middle divisions.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Dan, well you may be right about last years team not be better than Muir. They were similar. Their QB was a better QB than Potts. However, I would still hold Mtown over Los Altos right now. I am not going say beating a Los Al, Glendora, West Co, or Charter Oak is going to be Easy. It won’t. I would have love for Cif to tear apart the RHL and pacific. Th final league in the Central instead of the RHL should have been a new League. This would have made the Central even better.

            Monrovia
            Muir
            Burbank
            Burroughs
            Cresenta Valley
            Pasadena
            San Marino

          • WCDan

That would be a nice league to bring into the Central, I wish that would happen, but it makes too much sense which is probably why it didn’t happen. It would also prep Monrovia better for the playoffs. Well, then again on the other side of the coin, The Rio Hondo may be a blessing in disguise since it may give Monrovia a chance to get healthy and gain momentum before the playoffs. With St. Francis, Los Altos, Bonita, and San Dimas on your preseason schedule, your preseason could turn out to be the preparation for the Central playoffs that Monrovia needs, the Rio Hondo league could then be a recovery period.

          • daddy to the rescue

Dan, if they made that league come fruition then Monrovia wouldn’t even make the playoffs.

          • WCDan

Not too sure about that, I think Monrovia could hang with that league, But you have a good point, with teams like Burbank returning the QB and two stud RB’s and the physical lines they usually have, along with Crescenta Valley returning a lot of starters from a pretty good team last year, and then Muir always fielding a solid team, there would be a chance that Monrovia might not be top three in that league.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

You are correct. It would be tight. I could see Muir beating Monrovia in a league title. I could see Burbank knocking off Monrovia in tight one. However, San Marino and CV went neck and neck in a barn burner where over 100 pts was scored. CV would not be able to hang at all. At least 3rd.

          • WCDan

With CV returning 14 starters from an 8 & 2 team, and also
returning their QB,RB,WR, top O-lineman, and top defender(this all according to cal-preps), you got too give them a decent chance to knock anybody off in that fantasy Pacific league.

          • Observantcat

You’ve got to be kidding….. You got us confused with Arcadia.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

That league would get four teams in, and Monrovia is in the top two, and most definitely 3rd place.

          • WCDan

Truth your list is reasonable, no question on number 1 these next couple years, unless they had a mass exodus that I don’t know about, their freshman teams have been strong for a few years. Number 2 is also a solid pick in my eyes since they have 13 starters returning from a strong team last year. After that the rest of the top ten is one big question mark. Traditionally I would have St. Francis and Charter Oak up there with Chino Hills, but with both teams returning small numbers, they could both be in rebuild years. Glendora
has Matt Fink, after that I don’t know much, except that they usually have good size on the lines. Question is how good are their running backs, and for that matter how about their recievers? For those reasons the rest of the top ten outside of 1 & 2 is one big toss up.
After 1 & 2 the rest of my top ten look like they are pretty evenly matched because of so many question marks on each team, so in any particular tossing their names in a bag and pulling them out with a blind fold order, I would have St. Francis, CO, Glendora, West Co, Muir, Monrovia, South Hills and Los Altos rounding out the top ten.

          • WCDan

Actually I forgot about Burbank, I think they would fit well with the above group, Crescenta Valley also has a lot of starters returning from a good team, not such an easy task figuring this top ten.

          • Observantcat

Dan I know you love your Westco, but from what I am hearing from some of my Westco friends that follow your team is that they don’t pass the test this season for even a playoff spot. If I’m not mistaken, Fred nor Aram have them in their top ten at least not now. Muir is good but they wouldn’t beat Monrovia either in the past 5 years they may have put up a good fight with the us but they have struggled against Arcadia. The Pacific is no better across the board than the RHL with the exemption of maybe Muir and or Burbank the rest would struggle in the RHL for 3rd place behind Monrovia and San Marino.

          • WCDan

Not a lot of talk coming out of West Co on these blogs but there is a good feeling over here about this and the next couple of seasons at the varsity level. I’ve heard that there is an excitement in the air in getting the season started, one of the reasons is the team unity and attitude is the best that it’s been since the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Though I’ve only seen one varsity practice, and a couple of passing games, in the one practice that I saw, I thought it was a good looking West Co team. Good lines, plenty of speed on the offense and a qb that can get the ball to the players. May not be up there with the 2010 and 11 teams, but still a team that I think will be a threat for the Hacienda league title, and a good playoff run.

Gotta see Zamora do it under the lights, but so far he’s given no indicators that will be a problem for him. In HS football, half the battle is being able to get the ball down field to your playmakers. If Monrovia gets the ball to Spencer and Bradley, they’re gonna be hard to stop. This team could be scarier than I thought.

It is only obvious that this is his dad. If you ask him why he left Amat? Well, he always justifies and is never wrong of why he did it. I’ll tell you why. He left because he knew he wouldn’t start. Afraid to rise to the occasion and compete is always what he preached. Smh and if you have noticed, ever since he left Amat this guy compares Amat and Monrovia all the time. So please tell me this is not him???

        • green reality

Observacat is not his dad. I know his dad and he never says a bad word about Amat. You keep mentioning his dad compares Amat and Monrovia all the time. Where is that at? I am curious to hear what someone who has been at both has to say. You seam very offended. Offended to the point of justifying your stalking of someones kid on the internet, I believe if you ask the Amat coaches who was the starter when he left, they will clarify it for you. He was,,,ask them what was their plan with him and i am sure they can tell you that also. You seem to know who his dad is and you have a problem with him so why don’t you go settle it with him instead of going around on all these blogs saying negative things about the kid. I see his dad at Amat games and events so don’t be such a coward and go talk to him. I can assure you he doesn’t need to get on any blog and pump any of his kids. They are all great kids. You have accused anyone who tried to say the kid was good of being his dad. Am i his dad? The beautiful thing about film is that it speaks volumes. Numbers don’t lie. Your hate for someones child is really out there and it relects on Amat in a bad way. I was at Bonita and your last posts were blatant lies. I saw the kid talking to the Amat qb and it looked like he is taller so what does that say about your qb….Is he a midget???? You blaa blaa blaa all the time. post your name or is it better to lie behind a screen name?? Especially if you go after kids and are a coward. I can’t imagine any Monrovia people have or would say anything about Amat kids because they are not classless. You are pathetic and I find it humerous because you are such an idiot. I feel bad for Amat people because you do not represent any of the values i have asociated with Amat in the past. I guess times are changing but be careful because you might have to answer to those same people when you get exposed. If this little bit of positive press ruined your day i have the feeling you are going to have a long next two years.

Well said Greenie, If they think I’m his dad then they also have to believe that Ellis McCarthy is his brother and Heyworth is his other brother because over the past few years they have been spewing the same garbage every time someone puts out a good report on our athletes it brings back that inferiority complex that non athletes have when they can’t back up what they say. Zamora;s dad did what any good dad would do and thats to look out for his kids best interest. I wonder what would happen if Trey Sydney decided to enroll back at Monrovia. These guys would probably camp outside the Sydney home with picket signs pleading with CIF to put the house on a Crane and move it to La Puente. It’s almost funny how these little brothers of Notsince have become so relevant all of the sudden.

        • The truth and nothing but…

Everyone is touting the wrong kid. Spencer made this kid look good by out jumping a bunch of below average DBs. All Zamora did was lob the ball up to Spencer. For that, they say he’s a hero. LOL!

          • green reality

Nobody said he was a hero, but the numbers are impressive. The other receivers did great also. You are an idiot if you are calling noodles and Jaylin Hawkins below average dbs. You do not throw 50+ Tds and have one pick over two tournaments because you lob the ball to one receiver. Did you see the film or are you just blabbering to blabber?

          • green reality

I said “if you are saying that those two dbs are below average you are an idiot.” Now you are switching up and making excuses for them. They are great dbs. Again you seem very preoccupied with who gets anything positive said about them. There is a lot of positive press about Octavius. Who ever said otherwise? But you don’t have to hide behind semantics to join the above haters…just say what you want to say but don’t think people are not going to hold you accountable if its pure nonsense and call you on it. You talk like playing at Amat is somehow the holy grail of football. Again what are you implying? Maybe they left because they thought Monrovia was a much better program. Maybe a better fit. Maybe it had nothing to do with football. Either way they are at MHS and they appear to be doing really well. The writing on the wall would be what…not seeing the field. Again you are babbling. Thats saying the Amat coaches would not develop and put a 6’3 receiver on the field?? No thats wishful thinking from some delusional hater.

          • Mean Joe Green

Was there a single thread last year where you even mentioned the name Octavius Spencer?!! Did you even know who the kid was last year. The only reason why are you mentioning him now is because its a subtle but very obvious attempt to take a stab at our QB. Every single receiver on Monrovia’s team is chomping at the bit to play with Zamora. First you criticized the kid and said he had no arm, now you are accusing him of throwing 40 yard lobs. A QB with a weak arm cannot throw a 40 yard “lob” strike. Last year, you (yes you) criticized every single wide receiver on Monrovia as not being an athlete, now you are saying that it is their athleticism that is the reason why they completed passes. You sound utterly ridiculous. You may not remember the poison you spewed on these blogs but us MTown fans do. As for below average DBs, since when did Noodles and Jaylinn Hawkins become below average? If they are, you might want to share that with USC.

          • Wow

I’ve never seen so much hype over a kid that has yet to be the full time starter at the varsity level. I’ve seen the kid play in a couple of tournaments and thought he was pretty good little QB with above average accuracy, but like some of the other bloggers here, I would have to question the velocity that he puts on the ball. With a helmet and shoulder pads and limited vision due to his size some of those soft throws are bound to get picked or get his receivers lit up. I find it very strange that so many of the Monrovia people are trying to sell this kid so hard to everyone.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Really, The best qb’s in the SGV have been Under 6ft. Frankie Palmer at La Serna. Nick Bueno at Monrovia, Travis santiago( was about 5’10). Koa Haynes(5’11 at best). Steven Rivera. The key is they had explosive WR’s which got open. This is the fastest group of WR’s the SGV has seen in a long time. 3 of the 4 starting WR were a part of the Relay team which finished third in state. ETC…Go back a study SGV football.

The problem with Monrovia is they do not have lineman. They have an average size line that will not last the bigger teams in the Central. All those Quarterbacks you named were successful because they had guys up front that could block.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Honestly, Monrovia has not had a small line in some years. The Problem at Monrovia has been always been the mistakes. The penalties, the bad calls, unbalanced game plans and relying on the stars. Even if your line is average size, they still can be effective and can still get the job done. The Central is not the Pac 5 or Inland. There is More size in this division verses the Midvalley. However, speed kills, and Monrovia has the most in the Division. Monrovia is a different team. The summer success is not the end all be all, but this team is together and up for the challenge in this new division.

          • What?

How do you know that Monrovia has the most speed in the division? Have you seen Colony, Kaiser, Colton, Bloomington, etc? And please stop with the “we lost games because we made mistakes, penalties, bad calls, and bad game plans” B.S. Every team experiences those same problems all the way up to the NFL level, it’s part of the game. That’s like a basketball team saying, ” we only lost because the basketball didn’t go threw the rim enough times”. The best teams tend to make less of those errors.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Well 3 of our 4 WR were on the state placing 4 x 100 team. Everyone on this team is fast. You can’t see that on the tape? Our Lineman will be much faster and in better shape ETC… I think Mtown has the Fastest team. Buena Park is a very fast team and as you can see, they were not the fastest team on the field. About the mistakes, if Monrovia would commit only 1/2 of the mistakes, they would win. This year the focus is not making mistakes. Not beating yourself. So Far Monrovia has done this so many times. It starts with the leader the QB, and Ours so Far has barely turned it over. 0 INTs in the SGV shootout.

          • Wow

Well my best advice to you and the sensitive other Monrovia bloggers would be to let the kid play a few games 1st and show what he can do in an actual football game. Then you can come on here and tell it to everyone. Those QB’s you mentioned were all very good QB’s, but not until they proved it on the field did anyone tout them as being exceptional. Anytime people come on here and try to over hype a kid with no actual evidence to back it up, will tend to cause people to be skeptical. If you want to stop the skepticism you will need to stop the hype until you have proof.

          • green reality

Absolutely. Thats all anyone wanted in the first place…

          • Mean Joe Green

No one is sensitive and no one has attacked you for your opinions. I think you are over-reaching a bit. As for hyping QBs up, I believe that you are wrong. Everyone of these kids who came into high school and made a splash were already hyped up. Nick Bueno had already made a splash on the Junior All American level. He came into Monrovia hyped up. So were half of the talent that we now praise. Very few high school stars came into high school as unknowns. All that Monrovia bloggers are asking is that you reserve your criticism until the season. If I do not have enough data to hype him, then you surely don’t have enough data to criticize him. Fair is fair.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

No one is hyping Zamora. He had a great summer throwing the ball. Can’t a team be excited about that? if it was easy to do, wouldn’t every qb throw the ball well at every outing? That’s pretty much what this kid did. You can’t say he didn’t. Criticize all you want. Great players can handle that. He will have to handle that. However, since his departure from Bishop, I am sure he has been working out with a chip on his shoulder, and ready to prove the haters wrong. Besides that all the players at Monrovia want to play well, just because.

          • What?

Your kidding right? Not being hyped? lol. The Monrovia faithfull have been hyping the heck out of this kid for months now, hanging him out there like a pinata, with statements like, “He’s the Real Deal” etc. To be honest with you, everything that I’m reading is in response to some very boastful statements and is pretty much limited to people stating that his is a little bit undersized and doesn’t put alot of zip on his ball. From what I’ve seen in video and his listed size on Maxpreps, all those opinions seem to be valid points. If you can’t handle criticism, maybe the blog isn’t the right place for you.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

What this not the place for GP lol…..well tape shows something different. I already answer your quest besides Fink, who’s legit size? Who has a big time are. Who is accurate? He throws a nice ball and he can put zip on it. It’s on the tape.

          • Mean Joe Green

Thank you GP for the historical perspective. Some people act like 6’4″ QBs grow on trees. More importantly, someone needs to tell 5’11″ Russell Wilson and Drew Brees that they cannot beat 6’5″ Peyton Manning because they are undersized. Apparently, they were not listening to haters like the ones we have on this blog.

          • green reality

It is definately over the top but it is simply in response to a lot of lies and hating on a kid. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and thats cool but there are a few guys that stalk the kid and spew all kinds of nonsense… so people are just reacting. Attacking any kid is inappropriate. People get on here to discuss football, not hear some weirdos bad mouth a local kid everyone knows. if every time Wow showed up anywhere in an article or blog the same people got on to say irrelevant hateful things that were outright lies eventually people will be “cockroach go away” You can not like someone or have an opinion, especially one backed by facts….but stalking a teenager is too much.

          • Mean Joe Green

Wow, my defense of the kid is positively correlated to the amount of unnecessary criticism of him. Trust me when I say that no MTown fans would like a lot of publicity coming into the season with a new coach and the loss of a startiing QB and RB. I for one, (unlike the fans of other schools) would like to remain silent on our chances. However, every time I try to remain silent, some imbecile keeps turning a football thread into a personal vendetta against one kid, who happens to be the QB of a team I support. If you look at all the threads about the great kids of the SGV, you will not see a single MTown fan going into the thread and disparaging the kid’s accomplishment. For whatever reasons though, whenever there is a Monrovia article some stalking lunatic makes it a point of disparaging our athletes.

          • What?

Are you serous? Did I just read the following quote correctly?

“Trust me when I say that no MTown fans would like a lot of publicity coming into the season with a new coach and the loss of a startiing QB and RB. I for one, (unlike the fans of other schools) would like to remain silent on our chances.”

You’ve been all over this blog the last few weeks doing exactly what you just said you don’t like others to do. ROFLMAO, MTown fans are the biggest attention whore’s in the SGV. If you don’t want the attention or publicity, then stay of the blog with the “Look at us, we’re so great” statements.

This next quote is almost as funny as the 1st quote.

” If you look at all the threads about the great kids of the SGV, you will not see a single MTown fan going into the thread and disparaging the kid’s accomplishment.”

Just for starters, I seem to remember alot of MTown fans being highly critical of the Glendora receiving corp and how un-athletic they are. MTown fans do nothing but constantly shoot their mouths off but when the same types of comments come back at them they get complete flustered. Again, either grow some short and curly’s or stay off the blog.

          • Mean Joe Green

Please learn to read. I said we prefer to remain silent on our “chances”. Silent about our chances, and silent about our team are two completely different things. When have I ever spoke about Monrovia’s chances this year? Have you ever heard me speak about playoffs, championships or CIF? You can’t find a single quote where I have. So please research before you act like you know me. I will always defend our athletes and our program. Any respectable fan would. The only news that I am interested in on this blog is the news as it relates to Monrovia. Unlike you I don’t go trolling around topics that have nothing to do with my team. Stop trolling around on our topics and find some light at the end of the tunnel for your sorry a$$ team. As for Glendora, I did not make a single disparaging remark against any one athlete on their team. In fact I said that I like their quarterback. I said that their receivers were not athletic enough to keep up. Was I lying? I think the Glendora head coach would agree with me. Lastly, I think a team that has won three titles in a row, gone to the state semi-finals and the CIF semi-finals five years straight deserves a little attention. What has your team accomplished over the last five years? Please list their accomplishments over the past five years for all of us to review and critique.

          • What?

So when you say that a group of receivers from Glendora is not very athletic and can’t keep up with your players (which i personally have no problem with) that’s ok because in your eyes it’s true. But when someone points out that your QB lobs the ball or puts very little velocity on the ball, that’s over the top and cant be tolerated? typical Moron-vian homer/dad. You might want to look up the meaning of the word “hypocrite” and get back to me afterwords.
In regards to the statement about, “WE prefer to remain silent about OUR CHANCES”. Perhaps you should learn to write, because when you say WE that would include all of your fellow Moron-vian homers/dads and I can re-post several statements made by your Moron-vian homers which boast about, “your chances”.
Lastly, you can get back to me about what attention you think you deserve after your team wins a “Meaningful” CIF Championship as opposed to those D11 8 Man Football Championships. Keep pounding your chest in the kindergarten play ground. LOL

          • Mean Joe Green

Let’s be clear, I would rather be king of kindergarten than the bullied punching bag of the first grade. You still did not answer the question. What significant accomplishments has your team made in 5 years. I know who you are, so don’t claim a winning team that ain’t your own. Also, I criticized the “lob” comment because it was one out of several other vitriol comments the same dude made on other blogs. So I was not responding to that comment in particular, but about his comments in general. Lastly, if I went into a thread about your squad and started critiquing your players, I would expect the same backlash. By the way, don’t you have a plane trip that you should be packing for? Be sure to keep your mouth shut while you’re there. Texas has enough hot air.

          • What?

Why are you getting all bent out of shape? The man just complimented Spencer and you jump all over him about your QB. Why not just take the compliment about Spencer and say thank you?

          • Mean Joe Green

I know Spencer and he would tell you to take your compliment and shove it somewhere if he heard you dogging his teammates.

        • Blue&Gold95

Sir Lancelot what are you doing? I don’t understand why you feel the need to make us Amat Alumni’s look like idiots. Let me see if I can bring you back to our reality. Let’s entertain what we have going! First off we need Ryder to take over our offense. Second we need bigger/taller DE for our defense. I don’t have to much faith in our current DE that we have now. Also all of this “personal highlight” videos need to stop!!!! And NO I’m not talking about those companies that come out & film our boy’s. I’m talking about those parents that find the need to try and put all the spot light on there kids.

          • Bipolar

Dear mr not since 95, lil Johnny, under the stands, 1st and 10 and all the other names you have going on.
Amat defense is small on every position where your “lil Johnny” will have a problem is filling in those big shoes at LB. Now that camargo will be running with the rock, now Amat has only one good line backer. Being sarcastic about Ryder as the starting QB gives you away. You Amat bloggers shoulda stick together. That’s the only way you guys will winds a unit. The cats will shock the SGV while Amat will have an upsetting year.

          • green reality

Terlizzi is a beast, He was a Hawk by the way!! Wiley ,Soto, Schnieder, Hernandez,Hugo, Rashad, Austin. It is a puzzle but they have the pieces and if it is about stepping up and filling a hole, They don’t have a problem there. I don’t know where they will play those players, but they are all capable of stepping up and getting it done. Now it is about getting an identity and swagger and going out and being physical. Amat has not been physical in a while. I know in the past all the Amat people thought they were physical but naaa, They haven’t been physical at all since 42 went to New Mexico…..That dude was physical. This group has played physical since they were babies. Get out of the way coaches and cut the dogs loose!!!1Kelly and Vasquez with that dl line. They have the athletes in the secondary so now the chess game begins.

          • Blue&Gold95

Shock the SGV?!….LMAO!!! Have you been to a Amat game, have you seen our schedule? THIS IS DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL! I suggest you come to one of our home games & really join in the festivities, this is like tailgating at the Rose Bowl! And yes I feel Ryder should be the starting QB, for crying out loud his brother graduated from here!

        • Mean Joe Green

Dude, your infatuation with following around Monrovia athletes is teetering on criminal. Are you sure you are allowed within 100 feet of our high school? You sound absolutely ridiculous in all of your comments and are the number one reason why so many others in the SGV have come to hate the fans of your school. You come on here and pretend to be three different people, when in fact you are the same idiot. You make it seem like there are large number of Bishop Amat idiots out there like you, when in fact its only you. I have a proposal. Since knowing who someone’s father is soooo damn important to you, please tell us who you are the father of. Who is your child? You seem to know a lot about Monrovia and Amat so I am curious about who you are. I can tell you who you are not. You are not the father of Camargo, Wiley, Sidney, Vaughn, Arcanado, Terlizzi, Austin, Kelly, or Thomas. I know those father’s and they would be disgusted to know that you are an Amat fan. So if you are not the father of those players, then what athlete of significance could you have possibly spawned. Let’s talk about your child’s grades, his athletic performance, his weight and his height. Otherwise shut up and keep your infatuation with Zamora to yourself. As for Zamora himself, the kid is a great QB, with a great arm, a great disposition and a great brain. Only an absolute imbecile or hater would have something negative to say about him. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but talk about the program and not the kid. No one on these blogs has the cowardice to go after a kid but you and your kind. If you are sooo concerned about who his father his, I will introduce you to him next time you are kiddy patrolling Monrovia games.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

well, Dbar came back when Monrovia had in back ups. But it was not a blowout either way. It was a competitive match. DBar is missing Bell and Broadus. If they had them. That game would have been nuts. Noodles did not have too much help besides the Peterson kids.

    • PatrickHT

Rumor is Bell may be with them, also he was just added to maxpreps roster, so who knows

      • GP AKA Green Machine

That’s a great pick me up. What about the line?

        • PatrickHT

Well like I said, it’s a BIG maybe, not sure bout the line, But they got some good kids!

  • http://www.friv2hi.com friv 2

congratulations, hope you will be the champion

  • Green IM

Sheesh, Aram posts a few kind words about Monrovia summer passing league victories and this turns into a slobbering Monrovia love fest. We ain’t even got to tacklin yet.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

You can’t lie Monrovia threads are fun.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

    Well we will see
