What will be missed more than the football stuff is the character and discipline that Stevens tried to instill in the young men of Monrovia. Stevens was a man of strong convictions and good character. Football is temporary, but the lessons that these young men get during practice, on the sidelines and in the locker room can have a lasting impact in their lives. Stevens encouraged the young football players of Monrovia to start the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Monrovia’s campus when he arrived. He understood that football and morality are not mutually exclusive concepts. It’s something that seems to be missing in sports these days. Best of luck Coach!
