$3 entrance fee at Big League Dreams

Sports reporter Fred Robledo and editor Eddie Barrera were talking about the indoor soccer league they play with at West Covina Big League Dreams. The facilties are nice, they both said, but there is a $3 entrance fee.

I haven't checked it out yet. But the leagues I play in dont' have an entrance fee.

What do you guys think? Is the fee worth the facilities?

makes perfect sense to me...let's use taxpayer dollars to build the big park (sorry sport's park) and then let's charge the taxpayer's to use it......ah, got to love the politicians, always looking out for those they represent.

This is not a public park in the true sense of the term; it is a for profit venue. In this case, I don't see a problem charging people to go there.

I think it's great. More money in my pocket!!

I think it is very interesting now that the park is built and open, the city has a projected budget problem. I guess those bond debt payments that come out of the city's general fund really will hurt. If I were Ben Wong or Mike Miller, I'd be sitting at home with a grin on my face saying, "I told you so".

What public agency in its right mind pays to build a private company's facility and then charges people to use it? I guess West Covina does. Go figure.

The whole concept of "Big League Dreams" is that it's more than just a baseball diamond. You're paying for the ambiance and the amenities.

At other Big League Dreams parks I've been to, the kids get to play in replica of Fenway or Yankee Stadium or what not). Also, the $3 entrance fee included a token for a free drink.

It wasn't a big deal for me, but I think my little league-playing nephews got a real kick out of it.

The real question is, how much of every $3 goes into Touhey's ginormous back pocket?
