Elected official doesn't want to be bothered

I got this voicemail from an elected official, who I won't name until the story comes out in the weekend. I've called him a few times and spoke to him personally and he has refused to comment each time on how he is spending the public's money. Here's the message:

"Hello, Jennifer. You know, you've called a number of times, and not this time, but before you said, 'Oh, I have a deadline,' and twice you said that, and I haven't seen an article yet. I've told you, I have no comment. Clearly you don't understand that. Please understand that I have no comment. You run that story, that is your right to do that. But do not bother me anymore. I hope you understand that. Thank you very much."

My oh My, what is it with all these little cities in the SGV being so secretive and nasty? Can't wait for the ID to be known.

Why no comment? Is it that he knows eminent domain is just legalized theft?

Jennifer....I assume you will be including that quote in your story...please, pretty please.

I wish, Gilman. But the answer is no. This little nugget is a blog-only type of thing. :(

The story -- a very, very, very long story -- is going to run on Monday, with a "no comment" from the above mentioned elected official.

Well, Jennifer, you have us in suspense...patiently waiting for the story to be run.

Just imagine what it would be like without cool reporters like Jennifer asking some of the hard questions. What an inconvenience it must be for "elected officials" to have to campaign for our votes.

it was me!

Keep up the good work Jennifer. The only way the electorate can know how badly they are being seduced is to make abuses like this public. I hope this is not forgotten when Leon comes up for reelection to this cushy job.

I wish you would place that audio online for the rest of us to hear. He knew he was being recorded. So its fair game.
