Rosemead gadfly escorted out of meeting by deputy
Gadfly Jim Flournoy was escorted out of the Council Chambers after this exchage with Rosemead Councilman Gary Taylor:
Flourony: "Gary, shut up."
Audience: "Throw Jim out."
Flournoy: "Throw that bastard out," addressing Gary Taylor.
Taylor: "Which one of us is a bastard?"
Lt. Mike O'Shea then escorted Flournoy out, but after a talk with Mayor John Tran, Flournoy was told he could stay if he behaved.
The above exchange was prompted after a discussion about the general plan, developers and mixed-use projects.
(Heh. Notice the falling apart "No smoking sign in the above picture. That is just one reason why the council is upgrading its chambers.)

I thought Taylor said, "Who's the bastard?" but I don't have a recording. Maybe Gary will ask for verbatim minutes so we can get to the bottom of this.
The exchange between Jim and Gary wasn't about the general plan, but about following the agenda. It was public comment time, and that's not the appropriate time for a council member to seize the floor. So Gary kept talking and Jim kept shouting, "Shut up!"
Jim was clearly out of line to be shouting at Gary. But Gary was out of order to be talking when he was. And then, to shout back at Jim, "Who's the bastard?" or "Which one of us is the bastard?" I suspect more than a few people were thinking, "Both of you."
Mr. Taylor is not a bastard. He is the best thing the City of Rosemead ever had happen to it. The city should be fortunate to have such a responsible, respectable and ethical person on their city council. Whoever Anonymous is should think about that when the circus that is the Three Amigos runs the city into the ground.
Taylor's been in office since before most Rosemead residents were born. Yet, people like you are always complaining about day laborers loitering, traffic congestion, graffiti, shopping carts, and a lack of "American" restaurants and supermarkets. Have those problems gotten better or worse in the last 34 years? What has your esteemed councilmember done to address those problems? Go on. Tell us "The Truth." LOL!
The truth is it is not Taylor's fault, palce blame where it belongs, with the people who do these things. So since the three amigos have been in office, money is spent on what, a sleeping city attorney who can't get his bills right, a new city hall, and a sexual harassment settlement.
If you want to know what Mr. Taylor has done, look up his record.
