Cha-ching $$$

Looks like Louie Lujan is getting a jump start on fund-raising efforts for the November 2009 municipal election.

He's holding a fund-raiser next week at the popular Vive Lounge in Old Town Pasadena (a bar/night club that is usually pretty poppin' as they say on the weekends).

Guests include Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, D-Santa Fe Springs, Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero and State Assemblymen Ed Hernandez, D-West Covina, who I should add has historically been a big contributor to La Puente council campaigns including Lujan’s.

Want to be a sponsor and support the “Committee to Elect Louie Lujan?” It’ll cost you. Sponsorship levels start a $99 and go up to $10,000. That's a lot of money for a council seat. Apparently, La Puente does not set campaign contribution limits for local races.

Mark my words-- he'll use some of that for the municipal election, but I
guarantee the lion's share will go to the state assembly primary in 2010.
If I'm wrong, I'll eat humble pie. So...will his family be voting only once
this time?

Mayor Lujan is the only guy with the guts to move our sleepy city forward! He helped 2 new Councilmembers - Holloway and Mendoza get elected. He's the man! I hope he DOES run for higher office! We need leadership with guts.

Hey I went to his fundraiser last time and it was great. I'll be there again. He always knows how to bring a fun crowd together. Good times, good friends this is what political fundraising should be about. Take note Obama, Clinton, McCain.

Citizen: If I understand FPPC rules - you can't transfer local funds to a state race if it's your own campaign. So "no" he can't transfer money from his La Puente account to a state account.

so....could he "transfer" funds to another politician's fund....and then receive a contribution to his state race from that politician.....?

SGVPolitico said:

Like the R. Chavez did? Sure with $3,300 at a time, but it's a very small amount compared to a state run.

Even if Lujan wanted to, the FPPC makes it difficult for any elected official to "transfer" funds. Anyway, best of luck to you Lujan! Can you lend me some gas money?
