'I f***ing control the city'
El Monte resident Henry August called El Monte Mayor Ernest Gutierrez an "embarassment" for the mayor's actions at a recent sister city event. August, who spoke at the El Monte City Council meeting this week, lambasted the Mayor for showing up at the event drunk, groping his girlfriend on the dance floor, and using "very bad language."
Apparently, the mayor asked a group of women from the sister city what he could do for them. The ladies said they wanted a graffiti cleaning machine. The mayor's response, according to August: "I f***ing control the city. I can do whatever I fell like doing."
After August spoke, no council members or staff followed up on his comments. And from what reporter Claudia Palma tells me, there aren't any plans to talk about it either.

What a total embarrasment for the people who elected Gutierrez to office. Does this man have no shame or self control? He is out with another woman who apparently is not his wife at a City sponsored event. How unprofessional and a total embarrassment for his other four councilmembers and the City of El Monte. What a horrible impression he has left on the minds of those visitng from another country. The City Council should take action on his deploreable behavior. If he can't come to a meeting or event without being drunk stay at home. If he can't controll his infedelity be a man, get a divorce. For the cities sake don't flont your nasty going ons. Furthermore if you, Mayor Gutierrez can't and won't control your use of language for the future and above all for the sake of El Monte, resign. No one wants to read about a mayor who is totally out of control, unethical and unprofesiional.

It was apperent to me that the city council sat there like four frogs on a long listening to two residents complain about Ernie Gutierrez the Mayor. What the heck is going on. Do they approve of his behavior? What action are the four going to take on him? There must be someprotocal, somewhere at city hall. Where are the El Monte Police when you need them? How can some one, especially the mayor drive around drunk. I hope that it is noted that thiskind of unprofessional behavior will not be tolerated no matter the posiyion in city government. What a great role model for the city, especiall the youth who heardand saw this on television in their homes along with their parents. Gutierrez should be recalled or fired immediately.

Wow! I am gald to see that someone finally stood up to Ernie Gutierrez. It took a real man to speak his mind and put Ernie in his place. Let's hear it for Mr. August. He does not desrve to be called Mayor. His poor wife Olga sat in the front row listening to all these terrible things her nasty husband Ernie did. What a cowardly thing to do. He does not respect the office, his wife nor the visiting delegation from Tuxla Mexico. What a ugly memory they take with them to their home town. The women must of ben horrified by such actions and language. A letter from Ernie and the city council will not save this relationship. It will only serve as a pathetic reminder and a slap in the face to the sister city committee and delegation who attended this disasterious event. Cut the ties Ernie. Leave the office. You don't deserve the title that alone the responsibilty it entitles. Your true self has finally surface for all to witness. The city council should turn this matter over to the District Attorney's Office. Who knows what they may find with such a questionale elected official.I feel for the other four who have to clean up after a dirty mayor.

Mayor Gutiereez it seems to many of us in El Monte that you desperately need some professional help. You once served as a teacher and counselor. What kind of role modle do you think you are portraying not only to our children our city but other cities. God only knows how you conduct yourself outside, when you attend other meetings throughout California and other states and countries. You need to get help as soon as possible. Your tone of voice and mannerism clearly shows that you are hung over at the city council meetings that we watch and witness on cable and at city funtions. It is that ovious. Please seek marriage and anger management classes as well as attending alcocolic anonymous as soon as possible. There is no shame. Get the help you need Mator Gutierrez.

As a divorced wife and a mother of four children I can not believe that our mayor is such a cad. His wife Olga should take him for everything he has. Being a retired school teacher, veteran and city official he has a bundle of money not to mention his pention. For all the humiliation and embaressment he has put this poor woman through. I am sure he takes his girlfriend, the..... to very nine places to eat and travel together. Does he do this at the citys expense? Do the other councilmembers just turn their head as well as the city manager. Who does have the power in our city? I sure hope it is NOT Gutierrez. This council had better address this right away. It is a total embarressment to us all who live and voted for you all five. We (the city) do not need to be hounded by the media, like Antonio Vilaraigosa and others elected officials who cheat on their spouses. We as women need to stand up for ourselves and get justice. Olga you are not alone our thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. Get rid of that ....!
