I got this e-mail earlier today from Monica Killen, program supervisor with Baldwin Park:

“I am pretty sure you are aware of tonight’s City Council meeting at 7pm but I wanted to let you know that the City Council is going to vote on approving the new BALANCED budget for FY 08-09. As you are well aware, other city’s are facing deficits while our city is moving through the economic slowdown with no job cuts or reduced services.”

Killen tells me Baldwin Park is looking at a balanced budget for 2008-09.

In talking to city officials earlier this year, it looked like freezing open positions within City Hall and the Police Department, and cutting back in city departments helped them weather the fiscal storm.
