What is the latest in South El Monte? Is the Charles company kicking down the door? Which councilmembers brought them into the city?

How do these negotiations happen? Is the meeting in the open or behind closed doors? Aren't councilmembers held to a degree of honesty? They have to fill out a 700 form correct? That tells us what they get for free. Can the Tribne get that information for us. Thank You.

Now that a blogger posted projects in other neighboring cities I can see what all this controversy is all about. When Charles Co puts their foot into a door of a city, look out. They aim to keep it there. Wonder who's hands will be greased in S. El Monte?

Someone who knows said:

If the Charles Company is getting a deal, check to see if any of your councilmembers have any ties to WC Councilman Mike Touhey. Since Touhey has been in office the Charles Company gets free reins in Wc at bargain basement prices!

I remember when this project was first proposed, It was Blanca Figueroa (Mayor) and her sidekick Joseph Gonzales who strenuously supported it. Matter of fact every Council member voted in favor of the project except for ex-councilman Allen Co. He was opposed from start to finish.

Well now Allen Co can eat bread. The project is going on with out a hitch. Residents are very happy with their new homes and the developers have begun to start building this great mixed used project. It will be a matter of time befor we all enjoy it. My son plans to work at one of the places there. It will benefit the city in the long run. I am very happy with Mayor Blanca Figueroa's leadership in this developement. Thanks to the rest of the city council too. We all win in this case. Can't wait.
