Financially sound?*
What's West Covina's financial outlook for 2008-09? Hopefully it's better than what is out of Pico Rivera, which is reporting an $8 million deficit.
I'll find out Tuesday at the West Covina's council meeting. This will be my first West Covina council meeting since the recent reshuffling. I'm hoping West Covina's meetings are as entertaining as those in Rosemead. Click here for a copy of WC's agenda.
*Thanks to the readers who pointed out that financially was misspelled. I'm glad to see that at least it generated passionate comments.

It's "Financially". But again what should we expect. Just another sign of the dumbing down of our society and it's newspapers (what's left of it).
Check your spelling "Finacially"?
Spelling has never been the strong suit of the Leftover ladies!
Suprize? or Surprise?
Hookt on Fonics wurkt four me!!!!
Someone misses "n" and that's worthy of 5 comments?
Missing the entire point of the story and the post.
The first post was right though in a way, it is
"Just another sign of the dumbing down of our society"
No wonder the City of Pico Rivera is seeing an eight million dollar deficit, while still planning a three day gang member attracting event for their big Bicentennial celebration.
Dumb ass!! You didn't use "ph" its "Hookt on fonics wurkt PHour me." Sheesh!!!
Me go home now.
It's not about the spelling it's all about the "Gotcha" - all electeds are corrupt - all electeds are corrupt - all electeds are corrupt. Thank goodness for the Leftover Ladies to point that out for us.
Don't you mean "Kurrpt"
Who is this "West Covina Watch" and why has he or she tried to steal my handle?
As for finances... Yeah, the city's in a black hole. Same year as the opening of Big League Dreams. Coincidence? I think not. That thing's costing a lot more money than it's taking in. And in case anyone's missed it: It's costing more than $50 million! No grants or anything (although Steve Herfert promised the city would look for grants to pay for it, but then it IS Steve Herfert, Liar Extraordinaire). It's all bonds, baby, and we're paying for them.
Who cares if a word was spelled wrong? She corrected it. Great, lets move on now. I would hope that these people have something else better to do than to correct their spelling.
I'm glad that West Covina Watcher noticed that strange coincidence with the opening of BLD and a budget crunch...
But should it surprise us?
Grr...I can't believe these people.
Grr.....lego my Ego!!!!
Yeah, what a coincidence. Nevermind that the economy took a dump which means lower property values and lower property taxes, nevermind that people are buying less cars resulting in less sales tax. Nevermind that but I'm sure it was big bad Touhey and his BLD buds sinking the city. Do us a favor and stop the bitching and go buy stuff or play some ball.
It dont seem good to me in Pico
don't believe the hype. the deficits alot worse than they let on.
