Sushi anyone?

I was reading through the notices "of intention to circulate recall petition" against Baldwin Park City Council members Anthony Bejarano, Marlen Garcia and Monica Garcia last night.

First of all, sorry for not providing them on the Web site.... we'll be getting thatt up online today.

Second of all, the paperwork is pretty entertaining! Among the list of grievances listed as the grounds for the recall for each member are the following:

"Anthony Bejarano is more concerned about eating sushi at restaurants than taking care of the City and he problems of day laborers and public safety."

"Marlen Garcia has told people at City Council meetings that Baldwin Park Police are greedy, and if the citizens of Baldwin Park do not like her views to move to Tijuana."

"Monica Garcia fails to speak for herself at council meetings and is only a puppet of the mayor."

Wow....fighting words My favorite is the sushi comment.

The small amount of respect I had for CARA as a "grassroots" movement just went out the window. These people are a joke.

Mmmmm....sushi. Does he have any favorite restaurants he could recommend? I'm at www.westcovinawatcher.blogspot.com

Thank God we, the "RESIDENTS" of Baldwin Park are of a greater intelligence than that of the CARA few, who like Treasure and this nut Tuttle, who don't even live in our city.

I agree with you BP resident!

Seriously, some people just don't have anything better to do with their time!

That list is really silly! C.A.R.A. de payasos! lol!

I'm so ready for a new and fresh downtown! I'm tired of spending my money in West Covina, Pasadena and other neighboring towns!

I heard he also prefers scambled eggs instead of fried. Tania Chatila of the tribune should have a full expose on this on Monday

I agree with the B.P.residents that think their council are a bunch of arrogant a***s, though I hope they have better reasons for a recall listed.

The comments made by Garcia and Bejarano should be listed in a flyer and passed out to as many resident as possible. Use their exact words, Something like

When asked about where would all the displaced people would go, Bejarano replied "They can go to East L.A."

Garcia stated" If they don't like it they can go to Tijuana"

Does Bejarano even live in Baldwin Park?

"Does Bejarano even live in Baldwin Park?"

No. He lives in Playa Del Rey and commutes twice a week to Baldwin Park for council meetings and community events.

Also, once, when starving people were protesting at the gates of his palace, he said "let them eat cake."

More recently, thugs in his employ and in his political party harassed and threatened violence against one of his chief political rivals, Morgan Tsvangirai, forcing Tsvangirai to seek refuge at the Dutch Embassy.

And of course who can forget that fateful night in Las Vegas back in 1996 when Tupac Shakur was murdered while riding in Bejarano's car on the Vegas strip.

I mean seriously, the dude likes sushi. How many more innocent fish need to be murdered to satisfy his thirst for raw fish.

THE MURDER OF INNOSENT FISHIES IS NO LAUGHING MATTER. BEJARANO WANTS TO REDEVELOP BALDWIN PARK AND BRING IN MORE FISH SLAUGHTERING HOUSES. I ALSO HEARD HE PAID AN OFF DUTY POLICE OFFICER, AND KNOWN CRIP, TO MURDER BIGGIE SMALLS. I SHOULD HAVE PUT THAT IN MY RECALL NOTICE. DAMN IT. ANYWAY, HE HAD BIGGIE KILLED BECAUSE BIGGIE WAS AGAINST THE REDEVELOPMENT (REMEMBER HIS SONG, MORE MONEY MORE PROBLEMS? THAT WAS AN ANTI-DEVELOPMENT SONG).
I THINK BEJARANO IS ALSO LIEING ABOUT BEING LATINO. HE SURE LOOKS LIGHT SKINNED TO ME. HE'S PROBABLY PRETENDING TO BE MEXICAN SO HE COULD GET ELECTED IN BALDWIN PARK, AND IS GETTING KICK BACKS FROM ALL OF THE DAY LABORERS.

I am so surprised at the number of BP residents that are okay with the blatant attempts at Urban Gentrification of Baldwin Park. I guess it is easy to take a side when your home and business are not at stake. Just wait until rents go up because there is no affordable housing and your property taxes sky rocket and forces you to move. The council should be looking out for the best interests of their lower income residents who have no one to speak for them. I am all for Urban Redevelopment. We all know BP and many surrounding cities need it. But it needs to be smart growth. I think there is a better way to do it that doesn't displace hundreds of families.

And how exactly will redevelopment cause this?

"But it needs to be smart growth. I think there is a better way to do it that doesn't displace hundreds of families."

And what better way would that be?

I'm not disagreeing with you, necessarily. It just seems that lately on this issue there is this generic call for a "better way," yet I've not seen anyone propose a realistic (or specific) alternative.
