Scooped!

My editor plopped a copy of the San Gabriel Valley Neighborhood News on my desk yesterday and waddya know? Baldwin Park School Board member Sergio Corona gave an exclusive interview to Michael Armijo in the paper's June issue (published by Armijo News).

In the story, Corona tells Armijo that he has no plans to step down and that he didn't smoke anything the night of his arrest, as is stated in the police report.

"Many of us have problems, but if we all quit our jobs, then where would we be?" Corona said, adding he has been getting calls of support from parents and community members who want him to stay in office.

Corona said the toxicology report "will tell the true story."

I sure hope it does because now I'm really confused.

I have to say, I was a little surprised to see Corona spoke with Armijo, considering the fact that he dodged my calls and failed to return any of the messages I've been leaving him for the past two weeks ago.

I called Corona one more time Thursday afternoon and left him another message letting him know I still want to talk to him --- you know, just in case he didn't get any of my other calls.

Haven't heard back yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed....

Wake up Tribune... this is the exact result of your type of coverage of the news. No one wants to talk to you and give their side of the story because you don't care. Your story is already written with your biasm and witch-hunting style.

Kudos to the STUDENT FROM SIERRA VISTA who (on a separate blog) is courageous enough to stand up for what is right. You, your peers, and the outpouring of community support to oust Corona, can make a difference and it's called a RECALL. To start the process, check out the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder's website at http://www.lavote.net/VOTER/PDFS/GUIDE_TO_REC...
