More allegations in chamber drama emerge

Well, I finally got to talk to chamber Executive Director David Luevano today (after about two weeks of trying to get a hold of him), and Luevano is saying that Councilwoman Marlen Garcia did threaten his job at an informal meeting last month.

“I mean I just thought that it was wrong,” Luevano said. “I felt degraded – humiliated. What else can I say? She is a person, I guess, if the chamber doesn’t swing their way, I guess it’s no way.”

While Garcia admits to having been at that informal meeting, she denies allegations that she threatened Luevano’s job.

Chamber Vice President Jose Barrera also said Garcia did not threaten Luevano’s position, but that Garcia did say both Barrera and Luevano were unqualified.

Luevano says he has an affidavit from a chamber employee who overheard the whole thing, backing up his claims.

“(Garcia) did threaten my job,” Luevano said. “I have a witness to that. Maybe witnesses that were (there) don’t want to say it for other reasons, but I have another witness.”
