To our readers...

My apologies for not updating the blog earlier today. Because today will be a late night -- I got in at 2 p.m. to cover the El Monte meeting -- I am just now getting into the daily grove.

For the reader concerned about our Gregg Industries coverage: It is my understanding that a reporter has been covering that and is still at the hearing. We will have an update when she returns.

And yes, chasing down dead ducks and chickens does cut into blogging and reporting time.

Congratulations to Joe Blackburn for his efforts to keep everyone's eye on the ball when it comes to Gregg's activities in El Monte. Mr. Blackburn is right, the problem is worse at night. If any members of the council toured the plant please consider that and also consider the posibility that Gregg went out of its way to smell clean the day you visted. They are trying to address a pollution problem as a public relations problem and are giving the city and the larger el motne community a real snow job in terms of what they are and are not doing. Please keep an open mind and please don't let yourself be bullied by large ASTROTURF campaigns to convince you that the city will lose jobs if Gregg is forced to clean up its act.

mclain,

no word on the rumble that took place at Big League Dreams this past Friday? Word has it there were tables, chairs, blood, police and somebody was tasered. Can you confirm or deny these rumors?
