New Year celebration salvaged

Reporter Amanda Baumfeld got back from the Monterey Park special meeting a little bit ago and said that the city decided to salvage the annual two-day New Years celebration.

The council had considered significantly scaling back the festivities to only four hours because of budget concerns.

I think that the city council made a good decision. While we can still celebrtae the Chinese New Year that is important. No one group should have any more days of festivals as others. This is not China. It is America. You don't see St. Patricks Day, or Cinco de Mayo celebrated for days on in. Keep it short and sweet. It is all good.
