Cop by day, DJ by night
El Monte police Det. Ralph Batres will DJing Police Chief Ken Weldon's retirement party tonight.
When asked what kind of music he plays, Batres replied "everything."
Apparently, Batres DJ's often at weddings, birthdays and even divorce parties.
Partaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

So what! Doesn't the Tribune have something better put on their blog?
I here there's another cop who had a garage sale at his house once.
Eh? Eh? Garage sale?
Can you say "Call Steve Cooley"?
Go daddy go!
Anonymous...what is the problem? Why do you read something negative into everything that is written on this blog? If the Tribune irritates you so much, and you don't trust what they print, why read it? I gave up the L.A. Times years ago for that reason.

In regards to your entry. Anonymous , can be anyone. Do not generalize. It's true ... who cares that a cop is a dj on his free time. By the way, thats not all they do. Cities in the San Gabriel Valley are enduring serious matters that need immediate action and the Tribune wants to blog about a cop that dj's ...WOW! There are many police officers that do good in a community on and off work , why not blog about that?

To san gabriel valley resident:
What is negative about a cop being a DJ in his spare time? Yeah, you're right, officers do lots of things in their spare time. Some even blog.
I've never enjoyed music as much as I do when Bad to the Bone Ralph Batres DJ's. We got a taste of it at the Chief's Retirement Party. I was grooving to the music and dancing like a freak since music vibes hyponotize me. Bad to the Bone I want to date you!!!
Hey gogo dancer:
Do you know Mayor Ernie?
Another sad example of the decline in journalism. Perhaps the Tribune would gain more respect if its writers would spent more time on stories that are actually newsworthy.
This story is a nice change of pace from stories about the mayor, the town drunk. I wonder if the mayor and his hoochie mama were dancing at this party.
I thought YOU were his hoochie mama????
