Lights out for nocturnal councilwoman

The South El Monte City Council has given Mayor Blanca Figueroa a curfew.

The council voted 4-1 last night to prohibit city council members and city staff from using city hall facilities past 11 p.m. most nights. Figueroa is known for her late night office hours that sometimes have her at city hall until the pre-dawn hours of the morning.

Figueroa says she needs to work late to keep up with myriad letters, emails and requests from constituents, after spending her days going to meetings.

The four other council members supported the new regulations out of safety and liability concerns.

Councilman Hector Delgado said Figueroa can work from home using a city-issued laptop computer and cell phone if necessary.

First people complain about how lazy public officials are and how little time they put into their work. Now they complain about them working too late.

Make up your mind people.

I have met the mayor on a few occasions and I can say without a doubt that she is a few cans short of a six pack.(CRAZY)

I would like to ask which other mayor or council member in the San Gabriel Valley meets or gets visits by their constituents at 2 or 3 in the morning?
NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her response about meeting with businesses and writing letters of reference/referrals is highly suspect.

Our Mayor Figueroa does a wonderful job in representing us. She goes above and beyound her duties. We stand behind her 100%. She has been the best mayor ever in our city. Just look how much South El Monte has grown with many developments. The city has never looked better. She is a nice lady and dresses very well. She has brought class and style to city hall for a change.Keep doing exactly what we elected you to do Mayor. Representing us your residents of the city. Thank you for everything you do.

I dought very much that West Covina Watcher has ever met this mayor or any one else for that matter. You sound more like s fruit cake everytime you blog. No one can take this dummy seriously. Gadfly, that is what you are dude. The Mayor of South El Monte should keep on helping the people of her city. It is rare to find an elected official who cares enough about the city they represent. It is good to read a positive story for a change on a mayor in the San Gabriel Valley.

It sounds like some of these blogers are pretty mean and nasty. Wow, what a bunch of know nothings. To knock some one who does their job, despite the late hours. I too work late at night. As long as I get the job done who cares. Sounds like you all need to get real with what you write. Seams to me that the person writing these blogs is one person...anonymous. Sign your names and identify yourself. Stop being a coward.
I do agree Angelica the councilmember is a total hotty...if you like that kind of broad. I will meet with her any where...anytime.

Thank God the City of So El Monte doesn't have a shower their. The City of So El Monte provides the Council with Laptops with wireless hookup so she could respond to the emails from her house and write all those letters from her house. What the City of So El Monte doesn't provide each councilmember at their house is Heating, Air Conditioning and Cable TV. Mayor fix your own Heater and Air Conditioner and pay those bills, pay your Cable TV bill don't use the cities and blame the other Councilmembers. Mayor, Clean up your house and make it livable and move out of City Hall and pay your own utilities don't use the Taxpayers! Quit living off the residents get a job and leave City Hall when the employees go home. Your the only elected at any City Hall all night. Go to less of those free chicken lunches and dinners and respond to your residents during that time.

I am very disgusted with the mayor, for her behavior against the other council members who are truly looking out for the residents of South El Monte.

Everywhere I look or read this woman wants to get some type of media coverage. The reason I feel she does this is because no one in their right mine pays any attention to her.

She makes a complete fool out of herself at city hall and city events. I think she wants to get as much attention as the Mayor of El Monte, Ernie Gutierrez.

Those are two jack-asses running two great cities.

It's terrible that she even thinks for a moment that the residents of our city would be behind her on this issue.

I want the rest of the council to know that I am behind your efforts to restrict the hours of use for city hall. Bravo!

I hope one of you council members runs against this silly woman.
