Monterey Park Mayor to endorse Romero

| | Comments (18) |

Monterey Park Mayor Frank Venti announced he will endorse Gloria Romero in her run for Rep. Hilda Solis' seat a day after former Mayor Judy Chu said she is vying for the same seat.

"No doubt in my mind Gloria Romero is the better candidate," Venti said. "Not willing to allow such a precious seat to someone that I believe is a lightweight legislature."

Chu is on the California Board of Equalization.

In 1988 she was elected to the city council of Monterey Park, where she served as mayor for three terms. She ran for the California State Assembly in 1994, but lost the Democratic primary to Diane Martinez; in 1998, she lost the primary to Gloria Romero.

Chu will be beneficial and a go getter for all the cities that she will represent no matter what. All her background and experience will make her the best candidate for this job as the Congresswoman.
Feliz Navidad and Happy New Year.

Under Gloria Romero's leadership in the state senate california has become fiscally sound and a national leader in education and commerce. Whoops. I mean the state is banrkrupt and falling apart. Let's send her to congress!

DUE TO ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH A STATE DEFICIT WE NEED TO SUPPORT JUDY CHU FOR CONGRESS. SHE HAS THE BACKGROUND THAT IS NEEDED TO GET US BACK ON TRACK. GREAT CHOICE AS OUR NEXT CONGRESSPERSON IN WASHINGTON.

Put aside the politically correct observations, "a latino seat" or need for "Asian-American" representation. Ultimately neither one will help our state or country out of this financial mess. What are they going to champion? Remove all the Wal Marts in the nation. Unionize every entry level job in the country? Champion "living wages" for hot dog vendors and rolling catering trucks? We need someone who will fight to lower the size and scope of government both federal and state. We need someone who will champion the need for billions of transportation funds to help our cities improve both mass transportation and upgrades to our existing freeway system. Money for upgrades in water and sewer systems. Money to improve the goods movement from our ports to the railroads to remove truck traffic and clean up our air. I hope we voters will get to see a good batch of candidates to choose from. Lets not get into already preselecting an "heir" to the "throne"

Yes, you already said that. Is that the extent of your knowledge? Do you think if you keep repeating it you can make it true? What a putz.

Winning will take money and organization, which both Chu and Romero have. It would be a competitive, costly, and messy race that could cripple the loser's chances for moving up elsewhere in 2010.

They're both smart women. More than likely, the two of them will hash things out long before the filing deadline and they'll be able to endorse each other for separate races that both will win easily.

Romero, Calderon and Hernandez are not fiscially responsible or in touch with their cities that they represent at all. They are all part of the economic mess that California is currently going through. We need a responsible person who can make a difference as our Congressional Representative. Ouy with the old in with the new. Judy Chu is our choice for that seat. She will help straighten out this disaster and bring stability to our cities.

I believe that there is hope for our city and all others that are neighboring ones. This can only be done by empowering Judy Chu as the Congresswoman. She has served this area well as a Assemblymember. She has a proven record of leadership and smarts. There is one choice for us to be made.

El Monte said:

I would prefer to have Judy Chu as our next Congressperson. She has not been part of this stuggeling econoic madnesss. California will be facing a huge deficit in the millions come June of 2009. No more Romero, Hernandez or Calderon. They help create this disaster. They have proven that they can not come up with a solution to help save California. Oust them all together I say. Give Chu the opportunity to do what she does best. Work for the best interest of us all. Happy New Year to All.

I like Judy because she seems to be a hard worker and someone who really tries to take care of her constituents.

MONTEBELLO said:

FORGET THE OTHER THREE CHOICES. CHU WILL BE THE ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE FOR CONGRESS. WE WILL COME OUT AND HELP HER TAKE THIS VERY IMPORTANT POSITION. YOU GO MS. JUDY.

Isn't this focus on Asian and Hispanic representatives becoming nauseating?

Judy Chu was elected to the Board of Equalization. Shouldn't she finish that unfinished task first? Should she not live up to her promise to serve the public in the office to which she was elected FIRST? Isn't there a major fiscal crisis in California. Does our Lady Chu seek to leave us holding the bag while she goes off to
help undo the mess in D.C. Judy, finish this mess first1

Gloria Romero was elected to the State Senate and, as we know, our financial crisis in California is overwhelming.
Recently, a number of us witnessed Gloria Romero's tear-jerking presentation about dropouts in California's school and her pledge to end that ugly blight. She has already raised a lot of $$$$$$$
to run for the California Superintendent of Education's position. Why change now? Do they pay better in D.C.?

Lady Chu and Lady Romero, fix the mess in California's kitchen before you fire up the stove in D.C.

That's what we deserve--service from you since you were elected to serve here!

Never leave a task undone or in the air, please!

An Open Letter to Gloria Romero:

Dear Gloria,

How are you going to answer to all those persons who have already worked hard in your campaign for
the position of Superintendent of Public Instruction here in California?

My wife and I donated together donated $200 to you for this post. Are you going to return our money and the money of all those who listened to your impassioned
public commitment to drastically improve public education in our state?

Quite frankly, my wife and I, and, I assume, all those supporters you once had are now COMPLETELY
DISILLUSIONED WITH YOU!

Is this your demonstration of personal integrity on your part?
