SGV city hall news wrap-ups:

-- Industry voters -- all 82 of them -- will go to the polls today to vote on allowing the city to borrow $500 million for infrastructure improvements. And could these improvements help improve roads needed for the proposed NFL stadium? Of course. Read more. (And here's the LA Times story.)

-- The West Covina City Council is meeting tonight to talk about districts, but a memorandum released to the council members tells them that it is a violation of election code to vote on the issue since the petition hasn't been submitted or approve.

-- The Police Officers Association of Los Angeles County is going to recognize Covina Police Chief Kim Rainey tonight at the Covina City Council meeting. Rainey led the department in dealing with one of the most horrific massacres in the region.

-- Vulcan Materials is going to open access to Fish Canyon Trail in Duarte through its Azusa Rock Quarry site on Saturday.

It figures that Roger Hernandez would put something on the agenda that is against the election code. I'm sure it's just for creating havoc as usual. Worst Mayor Ever.

Roger Hernandez was at our breakfast this morning talking about his redistricting proposal. Does he not understand that this was the wrong forum?

At one time he was a promising young man, it is very unfortunate that all he cares about now is his own personal financial and political gain.

anyone familiar with election law will know that the council can place on the ballot its own districting intiative.

That's why I'm wondering why there's a memo saying they can't discuss their own initiative. I mean, unless the city attorney is in the pocket of the council majority that opposes the initiative. . . ?

I too was at the breakfast meeting with Hernandez; it is a shame this misguided young man cannot get past his own ego. It is extremely obvious he only cares about his personal agenda and his personal gain. At one time I believed he truly cared about the City of West Covina, but unfortunately it is blatently obvious he does not. Districting is divisive in nature and pits neighbors against neighbors. As our new President Obama has said this is the time to come together for the betterment of our nation. Our City needs people that truly care for all of West Covina. As residents of West Covina we should not allow Hernandez and his small following to destroy a wonderful City.

Hernandez wanted to discuss putting "HIS" proposal on the ballot, not the councils. He wanted the council to set an election when there is no election to set.

WC RTF said:

I agree. Hernandez wanted to discuss "HIS" proposal. Ita always only about HIM, HIM, HIM. Forget the rest of our Council.

A misguided young man. What a shame. Worst Mayor ever.

I was at the West Covina Council meeting last night. I sas Mr. Alfred Williams the petition organizer go into a racial tirade. If he is successful then West Covina will be run by some horrible people.

Another MSAC Student said:

Yeah, I attended that meeting as well. My report on municipal government is quite interesting. Seeing how some guys have been passing out petitions and some people were totally upset at all the lies they were told to sign these petitions. Then all of a sudden some guy named Alfred Williams freaks out at the council people and goes into a fit for no reason. Yikes, he looked like a TOTAL NUTJOB! Told my instructor I'm not sure I want to go back again.
