Tripepi will stay on in La Puente through 2009
I was chatting with La Puente Mayor Louie Lujan recently and he informed that the City has decided to keep Frank Tripepi on through the end of the year essentially as La Puente's interim city manager.
"We're very confident and comfortable with his management style at City Hall," Lujan said. "In the meantime, the position is still open but at the same time we know Tripepi has agreed to stay on through end of the year."
Guess that means recent interviews for a permanent replacement didn't go as well as planned.
When I asked Lujan what Tripepi's salary would be, he said that's still being worked out. When a $20,000/monthly contract was approved with Tripepi's company Willdan Financial Services in October, Lujan reasoned that it gave the city about about five and half months of pay to Willdan without exceeding current budgeted costs.
Obviously, that's going to change since those five months are up about March.
Louie Lujan is paying an interim city manager $20,000 a month. I smell a rat and his name is Lujan.
Dan Holloway and Nadia Mendoza are stealing money also. Let's make JOhn Solis the Mayor and Lola Vice mayor.
What a great idea La Puente Voter, to have a new and deserving Mayor such as John Solis and Vice Mayor Lola Storing or vice versa. It's there turn and would be refreshing instead of the same old folks controling who gets to be Mayor. Besides I'm tired of the same mayor every year. Time for change.

Not unless you are part of that old guard who still has there feelings hurt from the last election. If anything the city of La Puente has been moving forward has been doing very. Our city council needs some help. We have the same mayor over and over again. Obviously the three have theire own priorities. Lola Storing deserves her chance to serve as mayor and so does John Solis. Whether you like them or not they were voted in to office by the residents of our city. They deserve their time. Maybe next election the three will let someone else have a crack at mayor. By the way 20 grand a month is a bit excessive for us taxpayers and should be revoked!

Like Renee Chavez was? At least Nadia talks when she's on Council, and why does it matter if she just moved into the city? Is is a req. to be here for 10,15,25 years? The voters wanted her, don't be a big cry baby about it. CHANGE was brought and the city has been CHANGING for the better, like i said slow and steady. What a bunch of garbage! The reason Mayor Lujan and the others are keeping Trepipi is that he is the only city manager in years who is actually doing anything for the city. Carol Cowley was a joke and she did nothing. Trepipi recently got the city a new trash contract worth hundreds of thousands of dollars according to the paper. If it were up to Storing or Solis, or God forbid they were Mayor or Mayor pro tem, the City would be just like West Covina and many other SGV cities with a huge deficit and leaders looking to the past rather than to the future. Thanks to Mr. Tripepi and Mayor Lujan's leadership we have a good chance to survive these rough times and move forward.
I have to agree with Chris Cama and Anonymous. Lujan, Mendoza, and Holloway are the first council members in a very long time to actually have La Puente moving forward again. If Trepipi is doing the job, they should keep him on.
I also agree that there should be some form of public accountability for these posts. It is my belief that many of these negative comments regarding Lujan and others are actually coming from a single, bitter, and unemployed source: Ed Chavez.
La Puente Lookout: If you are right about Ed Chavez having no life but to sit at his computer and talk alot of "crap" then that explains all those ANTI La Puente Council remarks and the Anti- Hernandez (Assemblyman) remarks going on over the past couple weeks.
And I thought that we had a mess on our city council in west covina with roger hernandez. It looks like Mr. Lujan in la puente has a bunch of clowns running his politicial agenda.

John Solis is the only true leader in La Puente. Therefore, he should be the Mayor. Not the crooked Louie Lujan.

The same John Solis? If so, he should just run around La Puente saying "I'm the Mayor! I'm the Mayor" I doubt he would get arrested for that. You should really take a look at the police reports!

I'm asking IS THAT THE SAME JOHN SOLIS WHO SHOULD BE MAYOR?
as a La Puente resident I want to know why Solis should be Mayor when he got the least votes in the last election. Our city voted in two new council members (Dan and Nadia) and we want to see them leading our city not the old guard (solis). It makes sense to me and everyone else in the city.
None the less, no matter how many votes Solis received he was voted in by the people to represent them on the council. Therefore he deserves to be mayor as much as anyone else and so does Storing. If we don't like the process and we want only 1 peson to constantly represent us as mayor, then we should vote for an elected mayoral position. Lets be fair.
If Lola Storing was the Mayor, she would not waste taxpayers money on an interim city manager at $220,000 a year.
Correction: $240,000 a year.
Make Solis the Mayor NOW! Lola can be Vice Mayor! We need these two leaders. They are the bulldogs in our city.
Do you know why Solis runs a girls softball league? It's so that he can line his pockets with extra money from sponsors and parents. Someone needs to look into that. I think it's also been happening for years in the LP little league organization. Soneone should look at the accounting books, soon!!!! My grandson's little league fee went up almost 50% this year. Something is terribly wrong with that Little League organization. Go get them Tania
