Walnut City Councilman Joaquin Lim came to a press conference regarding the city filing a lawsuit against Industry over a proposed stadium hung over.
The former mayor told a handful of reporters at the 11 a.m. press conference that he got tanked the night before at a local bar that was closing down.
"You'll have to excuse me," he said. "I am so hung over."
UPDATED INFORMATION:
Walnut Councilman and NFL stadium opponent Joaquin Lim revealed to reporters in an 11 a.m. press conference that he had met twice with billionaire developer Ed Roski, Jr, on March 6 and 13.
"I was asked to meet with him and I said I would," he said. "I
simply asked if he would consider issuing a new EIR and his answer was no."
Roski's Majestic Realty Co. VP John Semcken said Roski asked Lim to meet with him to see what his concerns over the stadium were.
"(Lim) asked us to keep it confidential and we did," Semcken said. "Nothing came of it unfortunately."
Semcken said Lim had requested to meet alone with Roski but a trusted third party facilitator was called in. Lim was not available to respond to this statement Wednesday evening.
Of the commentary at the news conference over this large issue, THIS is what you report? How disappointing.

WALNUT FILES LAWSUIT CHALLENGING
THE ADEQUACY OF THE INDUSTRY STADIUM EIR
The City of Walnut filed a lawsuit this morning against the City of Industry, challenging its February 26th approval of the NFL Stadium complex without an adequate Environmental Impact Report. As approved, the project will exacerbate unhealthful air quality and traffic congestion in the region while diminishing the quality of life in Walnut.
On March 11, 2009, the Walnut City Council authorized Special Counsel Jan Chatten-Brown to file a lawsuit in this matter. According to City Manager, Rob Wishner,
Walnut retained the environmental law firm of Chatten-Brown & Carstens in December to pursue all of the City’s legal rights under the California Environmental Quality Act in anticipation of the City of Industry’s project approval.
As indicated in Walnut’s many comment letters to the City of Industry, the project as approved would result in significant environmental and economic consequences to the City of Walnut. While the project proponent suggests economic growth in the region, although debatable based on published literature, neighboring cities such as Walnut and Diamond Bar would realize significant traffic impacts, noise, air and light pollution, and other impacts that would jeopardize the health, safety and welfare of its residents.
Moreover, the project would burden Walnut with significant additional costs in providing traffic improvements, fire service, and police protection.
By litigating the adequacy of the EIR, Walnut can assure that the true adverse impacts of the project are acknowledged, Special Counsel Jan Chatten-Brown said.
Once impacts are identified, they must be mitigated if feasible mitigation measures exist. Although litigation is expensive, the cost of ignoring the impacts and not forcing the adoption of stringent mitigation measures is even more costly, Chatten-Brown further stated.
The suit was filed in the Central District of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The residents of Walnut deserve better than idiot!
What you see is what you get. Councilmember Lim is a embaresment to Walnut. How could he possibly think that it was just fine and dandy that he appear at a press conference hung over. His so called credibility just flew out the window. The so called press conference should of been held on " drunk and hung over politicians." The council should of sent some one else. Did anyone bother to give him a breath test, or have him walk a stright line before he spoke? Where there any beer cans or liquor bottles in his car? What a joke this guy is. He should of stayed at the bar. Maybe the bar would of paid for a taxi to have driven him to the press conference and sent him on his merry way with a hot cup of strong coffee. MAYBE!

Is this the same Joaquin Lim who leads the anti stadium supporters whose key concern is the drinking that will go on at the proposed stadium?

Councilmember Lim needs to attend AA Meetings. He should not speak against this NFL Stadium. "People who live in lass houses should not throw stones."
