Chu, Cedillo don't deter other candidates

teresa.jpgCandidates for the 32nd Congressional seat keep trucking along, even though Judy Chu and Gil Cedillo appear to have gotten a lot of media attention over the past few weeks.

Covina resident and former Covina Councilman Dave Truax, who is running for the 32nd Congressional seat, is hosting a meet and greet "dessert reception" from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the home of Steve and Donna Cayson, 1524 E. Algrove Street in Covina.

Tonight, candidate Teresa Hernandez, a West Covina native, will have an event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the South El Monte restaurant, Cielito Lindo, 1612 N. Santa Anita Ave. Among those in attendance will be Sen. Bob Huff, Covina Mayor Walt Allen and Rosemead Mayor Margaret Clark.

Well, if Maggie Clark is a "headliner" at the event, that means Teresa has locked up the old, white, Republican female vote. In the 32nd District, that's good for about six percent of the vote. Congratulations, Teresa!

Hey, isn't there a City Council meeting tonight in Rosemead? No Mayor?

The bad news is she can't win because she's Rep, the good thing is that she will still look HOT after she loses! I can't wait for T. Hernandez to take J. Chu! That is something I'll love to see!

How in the hell is someone qualified to run for Congress when they have absolutely no expierence in public office?

Can someone tell Mrs. Hernandez that plastic surgery doesn't qualify you to run for Congress!

My question is if she is part of that teabagging business going on around the state? I hope she is part of it. We need more teabaggers like Teresa Hernandez! Teabaggers for Hernandez!

Have you noticed that Judy Chu likes to be called DOCTOR Chu? You know, like Marcus Welby, M.D.? She is not in fact a doctor of medicine. Judy Chu received a Ph.D. in psychology apparently from the California School of Professional Psychology. I never heard of the school, so I looked it up. The National Research Council provides quality scores for approximately 185 Ph.D. programs in psychology. The California School of Psychology ranks 176th out of those 185. (http://www.socialpsychology.org/ranking.htm). The number one school? Stanford. You know, that school where 32nd Congressional District candidate Emanuel Pleitez earned his degree. But you don't have to call Emanuel "Doctor Pleitez". Emanuel will do just fine.

That is interesting...I have never heard Chu refer to herself as a doctor? Damn her for expecting the same recognition of her doctorate degree as anyone else with one..

Isn't Stanford the same school that cranks out career politicians, you know the ones that got us into this mess.

Go back to school, Manny! said:

When Manny earns his Ph.D. (as Doctor Chu has), he can call himself "Doctor," too. When he starts teaching college classes (as Doctor Chu has), he can call himself either "Doctor" or "Professor." And if Manny manages to earn his doctorate in psychology from Stanford, THEN comparing Stanford's Ph.D. program in psychology with the Ph.D. program at the California School of Psychology would be tangentially relevant. Until then, since Manny hasn't even been admitted to a doctoral program in any field, I think I will call him, "Manny."

How Long Does Judy Expect to Serve in Congress, Actually? said:

Sorry, but Emanuel does not need to go back to school. Judy, on the other hand, needs to start hitting the streets for votes, because at this point with just six days left it just may be dawning on her that a million plus dollars cannot buy this election if she is bereft of ideas, a grass-roots ground and internet game, and relevant attributes to be our Congress-person for the next twenty years. Because that is how long it takes for a Member of Congress to acquire power that will materially help our district. Judy, who is approaching 60 years of age, simply isn't going to live that long. We don't need to send an old lady to Congress only to have her die as head of a House committee in charge of the Congressional library (that actually happened in the recent past). What we need is a young person with the staying power and smarts to climb the Congressional ladder and, if we in the 32nd are LUCKY, run Appropriations or Ways & Means. The only person in this race with the right skills and characteristics is Emanuel Pleitez.

Yeah, you take your argument that what we need are more career politicians to the streets and see how far that gets you.
