Fair game: employee salaries
The Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District is going to consider yanking Bill Robinson on Tuesday from his appointed post on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California after he questioned whether the labor unions are immune from budget cuts.
In the meantime, Irwindale City Manager Robert Griego said that he will meet with the police officers union and managers union on Wednesday to inform them of possible ways to control cost measures such as controlling overtime, modifcation to different benefit programs, and modifying things like tuition reimbursement to reduce operating costs.
Good for Bill Robinson for addressing an issue that needs to be tackled.
Bill Robinson has the experience to get the job done. He was voted by the people and represents the people.

Why should "public" employees be sheltered from the effects of the economy any less than the union employees of GM and Chrylser? If anything, "public" employees should shoulder the burden first, since they have such a great desire to "serve" the public.
At West Covina's council meeting, I heard employees with telling council members about financial worries and job worries - welcome to the real world folks.
I think someone can agree with the premise that employee compensation should be considered, but still feel that Bill Robinson does not belong on the board. The two are not a package deal as much as the bloggers who run thsi page want you to believe that so that the story doesn't get "too complicated."
