4 in running for 2 seats on La Puente council
There are two open seats in La Puente's November City Council race, and only four people running.
Incumbents Lola Storing and Louie Lujan will face former Councilwoman Renee Chavez and former council hopeful David Argudo in the Nov. 3 election. Lujan is currently under investigation by the District Attorney's office over allegations of campaign finance violations.
Moving on to Argudo --- he's a business owner and La Puente High School graduate. He ran for council in 2007, but lost to Councilman John Solis by just 27 votes.

Then there's Chavez, who fought to keep her seat on the council in 2007, but also lost coming in at 94 votes behind Solis. Chavez also ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic ticket for the 57th Assembly District seat in 2006, but lost to Ed Hernandez. At the time, she was trying to fill the seat being vacated by her husband, Ed Chavez, who was termed out.
Should be an interesting race.
So which office is Lujan running for? City Council or Assembly?
Argudo needs to worry about his IRS Tax problem before City Council.
We were on David Argudo's team for Relay for Life. He is a liar and a cheat. He claimed to raise all this money but never bothered to tell anyone that non of his donations ever came in.
No one on the Relay team liked this guy in charge because of his attitude and bizarre behavior.
I have cancer survivors in my family and wanted to help a good cause. When this guy got involved, it was clear that he was using the event and our cancer survivors for his political gain.
Everyone involved in the relay will never vote for this arrogant liar.
I agree, Argudo is no good for the community. He showed up drunk t oa couple of the Relay for Life meetings. Then he had the nerve to drive home that way. La Puente does not need him, ever!!!!
If this was Texas Hold 'Em Poker I'd fold my hand, it's a loser. If Lujan can't keep his campaign finances right, how can he lead a city. Storing doesn't know what she is voting on most of the time, Rene Chavez is a puppet who did nothing in 4 years and Argudo is a bad guy as described in other comments. This is one of those cases where I'd like to vote "none of the above!"

I agree. That dummy, thug, and punk Solis must go also. Does this guy even know how to speak and write? Someone once said that Solis printed his high school diploma back in the day. If you want to lower the IQ down of the West Covina City Council, I would agree with Concern WEst Covina. Two of the three running aganist the Incumbents are Un-Employed so that would give a majority to Mayor Roger Hernandez who is also Un-Employed. Three Um-Employed Councilmembers that would be a first, I hoping for a different outcome let's keep the 3 we know over the other 3 we don't know!

Even if the incumbents have issues, it doesn't appear that the challengers are any better. Sometimes, change for change's sake is worse than doing nothing.

Argudo was a top contributor. Most of the top participants and teams came from his efforts. He challenged his committee, participants and teams as he pushed hard to try and achieve and break all previous records. Relay raised $38,000.00 dollars.
At the City council meeting he publically challenged the City of La Puente to become more active participants and form a team. Listen to the City Council audios, witness first hand Argudo at work.
The City of La Puente came in first place, raising thousands of dollars.
I say the City of La Puente needs leaders that are business minded, solution oriented and just plain HARD Workers!!!!!

These Argudo comments are true. As a relay for life participant we trusted David to account for ALL MONEY that was raised by ALL the workers.

This should be an interesting race between Argudo Chavez, Lujan ans Storing.
Chavez's record is 1-3. She Lost her first race to Council, won her second, lost her Assembly race, then lost her re-election bid. She is done. Seems like the Chavez's just want "in" somewhere. We are tired of them.
Argudo is not very well liked, is considered arrogant, a drunk and is being probed by the IRS for tax evasion and Lujan has accounting troubles.
Then there is Storing who doesn't even know she is there.

Concern West Covina yes check the facts for yourself. Four councilmembers have a job and have had one since they were in High School. Mayor Roger Hernandez 34 years old and still no job! Councilmember Steve Herfert has a College Degree from Cal Poly Pomona, so does Councilmember Sherri Lane she also has a College Degree from Cal Poly Pomona. Councilmember Michael Touhey attended Azusa Pacific and Biola Universities. The difference Steve, Sherri and Michael worked and paid there own way through College, Mayor Roger Hernandez had the Taxpayers of West Covina pay his way! Mayor Hernandez is a professional student, some of the residents in West Covina have to work so the City of West Covina can pay Mayor Roger Hernandez's College tution. Employees took a pay cut but Mayor Roger Hernandez had his College Tution paid, Roger reimburse the City to help out the employees and quit traveling on the Taxpayer's dime. Share some of the pain, you alraedy act like a Assemblymember. Concern West Covina, four Councilmembers own there houses here and Mayor Roger Hernandez lives in a condo provided by his mother. Does The Mayor Roger Hernandez pay any of his own bills?

Lola is from the Jurrasic era and needs to go the way of the dinosaur. Ed Chavez needs to find a job and stop trying to place his wife in office. David Argudo is the change in City Hall we need. He was an asset to Relay for Life. He is not a cheat or liar, he is a hard worker and helps people in a genuine way. David Argudo has a love child up north with a girl he went to college with. He also started to date a women from the American Cancer Society a few months ago when we were all on the committee with him. The woman (who I will not name) did not know he was married...because he DID NOT tell her. When his wife found out, all hell broke loose in the Argudo home (which by the way needs a cleaning and weeds pulled).

He tried to take all the credit for raising all the money that WE worked hard to raise. WE the regular people, did all his work for him. Now, he is taking credit for all if it.

I was a former Argudo supporter until I found out that he is approaching business owners and telling them that unless we give him money for his campaign, he will not not support our association.
I am not against the man asking for money, but I am against him asking for $5000 and then saying that he will not work with him unless we "support" him.

When I see who everyone is on here I will listen to your bashing of the candidates. These comments all seem rigged and have someone corrupting even these. Why bother reading all these liars. Call up the candidates yourself and go from there. David Argudo is at least willing to talk to everyone who asks to talk to him, when have any of the others?
