Leiweke asks for $1 billion from taxpayers to pay for downtown stadium

| | Comments (4) |

After AEG's Tim Leiweke spoke to L.A. business folk Tuesday about using the L.A. Convention Center to help build an NFL stadium, some people aren't reacting to it as he might hope.

The big hiccup? Ed Roski's Industry stadium is privately financed while Leiweke is asking for, oh, something like $1 billion from taxpayers.

L.A. Observed has a video up. And you can put Ron Kaye on the side of Roski's plan vs. Leiweke's downtown idea.

AEG is spoiled rich. They can find their OWN money and not screw over taxpayers. There are many people starving and cold at night on the streets. I love sports but money can't be diverted to cover stadiums that make money for the greedy and give nothing back to the community...

WILL AEG GIVE THE TAXPAYERS OWNERSHIP IN THE NEW STADIUM? I THINK NOT! THEY WILL CHARGE OUTRAGES TICKET PRICES AND FILL THEIR ALREADY FAT WALLETS! THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED!

If true (and I'm doubting the SGVN; just giving AEG the benefit of the doubt), then the powers that be should support the privately-financed City of Industry stadium plan, not the taxpayer-supported Downtown LA traffic-builder.

Let's bring the Rams and Raiders home, to the City of Industry!

Not true. AEG's plan is privately financed. Period. This is misinformation, and you should be ashamed, whatever your agenda.
