Rosedale project gets extension on building fire station

Sensitive to the economy and the housing market crash, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors gave the Azusa Rosedale housing project’s developers a four year extension on building a fire station for the community.

“We asked them on behalf of developers … if they would consider giving an extension,” Azusa City Manager Fran Delach said. “They had no problem and understood. It’s a good thing that will help Rosedale.”

The developers will have until May 2015 to construct a 6,000 square foot replacement fire station that is contingent on 1,000 homes being sold in the community.

Antonovich takes a jab at Mexico’s government

Just grabbed this from Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich’s twitter feed:

“@mikeantonovich: If Mexico continues with this frivolous lawsuit, then Arizona ought to counter-sue for the cost of services to illegal aliens”

Antonovich is referencing Mexico’s government’s decision to offer a legal opinion in support of five lawsuits against Arizona’s new immigration law.

Mexico’s legal brief doesn’t make them a party to the lawsuits, but argues in favor of the lawsuit’s position.

Apparently, though, Antonovich is none to pleased with the Mexico’s government getting involved with Arizona’s bill.

Thoughts?

Are Supervisor Antonovich and Jack LaLanne friends?

Politicians receive gifts from a number of sources. Some are more interesting (such as overseas trips) than others (say, a basket of fruit). One local supervisor received a small, but nonetheless, intriguing one.

Of the three gifts (pictured) Supervisor Michael Antonovich, 70, reported receiving gifts last year, one of them was a $100 juicer from the “godfather of fitness,” 95-year old Jack LaLanne, according to the supervisor’s disclosure forms.

Has anyone tried one of them?
