Deep in the Heart of Texas

All I can say is Trevor Murdock and Brent Albright are awesome.  While in Texas this past weekend I got a chance to see Murdock wrestle Brent Albright for the National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Championship in what I would have to say is a match of the year candidate for me personally.  Normally I don't remember matches since I'm focusing on getting the photo,  But I was just in awe of this match.

They pulled out all of the old school stops, Hiding a foreign object in the turn buckle while his back was to the ref  before the match while talking to the crowd.  They even pulled out a fake injury so well that I was generally concerned,  until Albright turned his back on him and Murdock attacked getting the crowed wanting to kill him for preying on their general concern for him.  The match went back and forth until the object became a part of the match.   Murdock loaded his elbow pad with a foreign object to   and hit the flying elbow for what everyone thought was the win and the Championship.

As they were announcing him as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion; Former WWE developmental contracted wrestler Ace Steel hit the ring to right the injustice that he had just witness. Steel attacked Murdock ripping off the elbow pad to expose the object to the ref decided to restart the match which Albright quickly pick up the win to retain the championship.

During the whole match they had the crowd eating out of their hands, it was one of the most amazing sites I have seen in a while. Why the WWE let go of these three men were beyond me as they are better than most of what is on WWE television right now.  In the first time in a long time I was a fan.

I'll post photos of the whole event from this past Sunday tomorrow.

About Slam Jam

Shane Michael Kidder, creator of a Web site of his photos that receives nearly 2 million hits a month from around the world, has learned many lessons in his time photographing wrestling, the most important one being “watch where the wrestlers are going.” This comes after almost being knocked out by a wrestler diving out of the ring at his first show in 2003 at a Golden State Championship Wrestling event in Newhall, Calif. Born in Northridge and still living in the San Fernando Valley, he spends most of his time working on his Web site in preparation for the next wrestling event.
