Real Salt Lake at Galaxy

David Beckham is out, of course, for the Galaxy while Carlos Pavon was benched in favor of Edson Buddle. Steve Cronin makes his first MLS start of the year in goal so the ever-present Joe Cannon can catch a breather. But otherwise it’s the same tired eleven that started against Pachuca.

Real Salt Lake sticks with the same starting line-up that brought them their third win of the season Wednesday against the Wizards, which means former Galaxy forward Robbie Findlay stays on the bench. Recently signed Argentines Mathias Mantilla and Javier Morales make their third MLS start, while Fabian Espindola (another Argentine) gets his second. Former Galaxy player Nate Sturgis is still out injured.

No TV tonight unless you have HD Net (and few do).

Galaxy striker Alan Gordon just scored a header in the sixth minute off a Landon Donovan cross to get things off to a fast start.

RSL just had a goal disallowed for offside in the eighth minute.

Updated: That’s Gordon’s first MLS goal of the season.

Also, the Galaxy are playing in their galactic blue tonight. The reason: RSL only brought their white kit, which is appreciated here in the press box.

The feeling is the blue and gold looks far better than the faux Real Madrid white the Galaxy adopted to make Beck’s feel at home.
