Colorado Rapids 0 Galaxy 0 (Half Time)

The Galaxy marked the two-thirds point of the 30-game season with a deathly dull first 45 minutes against the equally tedious Rapids.

The litany of misses included Alan Gordon failing to poke it past Rapids goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul with only the Senagal native to beat in the 41st minute and a spectacular whiff by an unmarked Kyle Martino in first half stoppage time.

The Galaxy haven’t scored on Colorado in 588 minutes now — their last goal came in September 2005 — and they don’t look like breaking the streak.

The Rapids were just as awful, a selfish Mehdi Ballouchy in particular to blame for electing to sky a shot high over the bar in the 38th minute with two Rapids players stationed in front of the goal.

The positives were few for both teams: Cobi Jones slipped past Fercundo Erpen in the 22nd minute to send Edson Buddle through, but Coundoul pushed the ball around the near post.

Rapids defender Brandon Prideaux required Galaxy goalkeeper Joe Cannon to pull off a save with a hard left-footed shot from 18 yards in the 37th minute.

Galaxy defender Abel Xavier was hobbling at the end of the first half, but has returned to start the second 45 minutes.

Coundoul just committed a howler 26 seconds into the second half, gifting Gordon an easy goal as he ran onto a through ball from Vagenas. The Rapids keeper came out of his net, but completely missed the ball.

Guess they broke the streak, after all.
